He was on top of the nightmare "wedding cake", too.  I doubt any of the high school kids will be back for the final installment.  Which is sad because they provided some much needed comic relief.  I just can't see any justification for having them back, story-wise.  I REALLY don't think they needed to split the last book into two parts, and I'm afraid that the last movie will be a bit thin.  I think they're about out of gas.

The humans don't have BD2 listed on their IMDB creds. also I think I read it in someone's interview sometime. I have to disagree with you about splitting it in two. It was a great idea. I think it was split in just the right point. reading the book, I always felt like I just read two books. It does seem like there's two full stories in it.

That may be part of the reason, but I'd like to think the motivation is more that they thought they couldn't possibly squeeze everything into one movie and still do the book justice. Or is that too idealistic of me?

Sure they wanna make money, but the Breaking Dawn book contains a lot of story, that would have been too much for just one movie. So it's a good idea to split it in two, just like they did with Harry Potter. I can't wait for Part 2.

And all one movie would have taken more time to film and a long wait. I still think next November is too long to wait it should be next summer or sooner!

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I watched the matinee yesterday. There were maybe 10 people in the cinema. The girl two seats over cried like crazy. (And, like everyone but me and two others, she rushed out as soon as the credits started, thus missing the last scene with the Volturi.) I personally thought, as far as book adaptations that have Robert Pattinson in them go, this one was pretty good. Still, perhaps wrongly so, I got more excited about the ten seconds of Matt Bomer in the In Time trailer they happened to play in front of the movie than the prospect of watching Breaking Dawn.

So, yes, it's always lovely to see Mike Welch on the big screen, even though his role was super short. He did look snazzy in that suit, however. The last scene (don't worry, I'm not gonna spoil) was very much cribbed from Avatar. Wonder if they did that on purpose. My biggest gripe is probably the make-up. The vampires always look so fakely white, like they just applied very bad, pale makeup (and to the face only). And PFac was wearing Da Wig From Hell. It looked very fake, and very horrible. (And by the way, I thought Alice's and Jasper's hair was fine. Even Pattinson's hair looked all right.) I mean, this is the effin' 21st century. They should be able to do better than that!

I'm looking forward to part 2 next year. Should be a good one.

The scene was apparently like Avatar in that it also caused seizures...

No, I was talking about the very, very, very last scene, not the birth giving. There was no birth giving in Avatar.

The link talked about Avatar also causing seizures.  Since I haven't seen either movie, I don't know what they were talking about with Avatar.

I didn't see any similarities to Avatar. But well, I've only seen Avatar once, so I'm not an expert. I plan to see Breaking Dawn a second time, maybe it will occur to me then.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I saw a bootleg of BD the other day. it was a very murky cam version, barely watchable, but it inspired me to go and see it in theater last night. only about 10 people there. it was pretty good. followed the book well enough and I think the acting has been getting better from most of the actors. some of them just seem to go worse because they don't get enough lines. like  the humans. and the Cullens even. I'm always just very sick of Volturi and thought that end scene was pointless. they were in the other set of actors that seem to devolve in my eyes.

yes, the wigs were terrible. The wolves talking were a little "eh" at first but then I realized it was pretty close to the book too. even the Alpha's voice distorted, loaded with power. anyone else ever notice that on every movie, when ever the Cullens and wolves fight, it's Emmett vs Paul? big_smile there was barely enough Alex in the movie. Booboo attempts to take over A's throne in my eyes, on who makes the best wolf.  Booboo IS Seth, right? big_smile on another note: I've totally fallen in love with Kristen and didn't even realize. I absolutely didn't like Bella in the books but Kristen's interpretion of her is very likeable with only a little bit of dislike. PS: She's so damn sexy. I might have to admit that the reason I wanted to see it in theater, were the teasing scenes on the honeymoon. I mean: WOW! I think I might see it a couple more times to catch all the little details start to finish, but I'll wait for the DVD.

The very last shot of the last scene in both (excluding the Volturi add-on) is exactly the same, only with different people, of course.

You mean when she opens her eyes? Well, I don't exactly remember what happened in Avatar, but I can't think of any other way to show the completion of a transformation like that and it doesn't lead me automatically to think "They stole that from another movie." It's like the neverending fight about who stole from who, Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, whatever. Some people have similar ideas. It happens. No need to argue about that.

BTW, you mentioned book adaptions that involve Robert Pattinson. I suggest you watch Water For Elephants, he's brilliant in that one. I've heard that from other people who hate him with a passion.

Yes, that's the scene I mean. And since I've seen Avatar so many times, I couldn't help but notice the similarity. I didn't mean to say it wasn't well done in Breaking Dawn, or that it didn't fit. It was just... exactly the same. And conveniently also exactly the same in that it was the very, very last shot of the movie.

BTW, you mentioned book adaptions that involve Robert Pattinson. I suggest you watch Water For Elephants, he's brilliant in that one. I've heard that from other people who hate him with a passion.

Yeah, I'm sure it's great and lovely and all, but Robert P. is to me what Shia L. is to Deb. I just can't help it. He may be a good actor, but I just have zero interest in watching him, unless I really, really wanna see the movie. I have no desire whatsoever to watch Water For Elephants, especially if I have to pay money to do so. And even if someone gave me a copy of the DVD for free, I would probably only ever watch it if I was super bored and didn't have anything else to do whatsoever for the next two hours. (Which is very likely to never happen.) I know that may be wrong and irrational, but people don't always behave rationally, right?

I guess it's kinda like when you meet someone, and you don't even know them, but you already have a loathing for them the minute you set eyes on them. It happens. And mostly you just have to accept it and move on.

I don't like his singing either, but he CAN play the piano. I like that. I have to admit before Twilight I didn't even remember him from the Potter movies, and Twilight isn't his best acting, but he definitely did brilliantly in Remember Me and WFE. I love those movies. I'm looking forward to see him in Bel Ami. If that'll ever come out. *sigh*

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I think the guy's pretty damn good, myself.  Especially after seeing Remember Me.  And I recently watched the HP movies again.  He was great in that too.  A lot of the bashing is just idiots with their knee-jerk backlash bullshit.  People think they're cool for crapping all over the Twilight kids even if they really don't feel that way.   TeeJay's pure hatred is real, obviously.   But a lot of the crap on the Internet is just the ravings of juvenile idiot's.  Stand by your man!   I will defend Kristen Stewart to the death.  I think she's brilliant and 20 years from now, she will still be doing fine work, probably racking up a pile of awards.  I think Lautner is a gorgeous, but ultimately an empty shell.  My bet for him is that he'll get stuck doing stupid action movies for a while, and eventually end up on TV somewhere.

May I join you here? I worship Kristen's talent. I will watch anything she does.
Lautner, well, he's good, but he's not really my type. I wish him all the best for his career, but that's it. I'll stick with Pattinson. wink You should check out Water For Elephants, he's great it that, too. And hey, of course I'll stand by him! Just like I stand with all my favorite actresses and actors. The list may be long but I love them all equally. I have a big heart! big_smile (Most recently, it belongs to Nelsan Ellis. big_smile I'm currently busy catching up with his career.)
I've stopped caring what other people say about Twilight, or Kristen or Robert or any actor I've grown to love. I know what I like, and that's what's important.
