The X Files 2

Here's where you can see the first images of Mulder & Scully in the new film.   Still sessy as ever, those two.

Very cool!
I loved watching the X-Files! I used to collect the trading cards, read the comics and novels, and even had action figures and an X-Files video game--but unfortunately I lost interest around the time the first movie came out--and then when Mulder left, I resorted to watching the early episodes I had on VHS for my X-Files fix. smile
I haven't read up much on what the sequel's gonna focus on, but hopefully it'll be viewer friendly for those of us that bailed before the Series ended. wink

Re: The X Files 2

It's going to be a totally stand-alone story.  Should work just fine for those of you who already forgot everything you ever knew abut the mythology.  I'm a little bugged by that.  I wanna know what happened to William, damnit!  I wanted to see a movie where they moved heaven and earth to get him back.  So, what, we just go back to Mulder & Scully before they had a baby together?

Re: The X Files 2

I loved watching the TV series, but when I watched the first movie in the theaters, I thought it was sooo boring. I'm not sure if I am going to see the second one. Maybe I'll wait for the DVD.

Man, I'm so far removed from that show that I don't even remember how it ended, Mulder/Scully relationship-wise.

Re: The X Files 2

He gave her a baby and then disappeared.  It was never explicitly stated if they did it the old fashioned way or through medical technology.  Scully named the baby William.  But he got taken away from her in that whole "super soldier" plot that I just couldn't keep track of.  I thought if they ever did another movie it should be about Mulder & Scully trying to get William back.  Alas, Chris Carter says this movie will be totally stand-alone.  So, what, William's just gone?  As a Scullyite, I refuse to believe that she wouldn't spend every waking minute trying to find her son.  They'd better deal with this or the movie is just going to royally piss me off.

I'll have to go dig up the VHS of the first movie and rewatch it before the second one comes to theaters. Wonder in what closet that one hides... hmm

Re: The X Files 2

I was a huuuge X-Files fan, so of course I had to buy the movie. I didn't think it was that great, but I was way into the fandom then. I think I saw the movie in the theater two or three times. Once I sat in row 10 seat 13, I thought that was cool. smile

I think I saw it three times in the theater too.  I also didn't think it was great.  Buy dayum did David & Gillian look fine in that movie!  That's why I couldn't stop watching it.

I was also a big fan of the show but I still thought the movie was boring. But well, I never had the chance to see all the episodes. We didn't have cable TV until we moved. Guess I should re-watch the show some time. LOL

TeeJay, did you know that Gillian's all time favorite ep is Bad Blood?  She said so recently at that con.

That's the one we watched together, right? The one with the vampires? It's definitely among my all time favorites too. So many classic lines in that one.

Yep, that's the one.  She got to play a lot of very funny stuff in that one.  I'm sure that's what appealed to her.

X-Files creator spills film details

By DERRIK J. LANG, AP Entertainment Writer
2 hours, 29 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES - The truth about "The X-Files" sequel — some of it, anyway — is now out there.

"X-Files" creator Chris Carter, writer Frank Spotnitz and other crew members gathered Wednesday to discuss the TV series — and declassify some information about the upcoming film.

The popular Fox paranormal drama, which aired from 1993 to 2002, starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully

"While this is not a mythology movie, it's true to everything that's come before," Spotnitz said at the William S. Paley Television Festival. "It's true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they've had."

The series first made the leap to the big screen with 1998's "The X-Files: Fight the Future." Plans for another film were grounded in 2005 when Carter sued Fox over syndication profits for the show. The lawsuit was later settled.

Carter, who also directs the new movie, said it takes place in the present and uses a story envisioned when the series ended. While the show's sprawling alien mythology isn't part of the plot, Carter said there is a reference to Scully's seemingly supernatural son, William, who was born in season eight and later given up for adoption.

The film is due out July 25.

Carter was tightlipped about the title.

"I can't tell you," he said. "I know what I want it to be, but Fox has some ideas of their own."

At last William gets a "mention".  What?  Did Scully ship him off to Dr. Xavier's school or something?

Re: The X Files 2

A wee bit more...

The film will pick up six years after the end of the series. It's supposed to be a standalone feature removed from the alien mythology of the TV show, a throwback to the show's "monster of the week" episodes. Still, some lingering aspects from the series, like whether Scully's child will be a normal tyke, will be addressed. "It will not be a mythology movie, but it's true to everything that's come before," says writer-producer Frank Spotnitz.

That's gorgeous!  Remember those original Spiderman posters they couldn't use because they were of a web stretched between the WTC towers?  That reminds me of them, for some reason.  Really stylized.

Re: The X Files 2

At first glance, I thought it was kinda spooky.  But I like it the more I look at it.

Know what Carol?  I've got that original Spiderman teaser trailer of that scene with the WTC web catching the helicopter on my computer.  I wonder if it can still be found online.  Talk about spooky...

Oh, but that's nothing compared to the ep of The Lone Gunmen where a plane is highjacked and flown at those buildings.  I have that on tape.  Well, I have all eps of that show on tape.  That scene is just incredibly creepy now.  It used to be available on YouTube.  Ever seen it?
