Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

During choir today, my friend was talking to the assistant teacher about Heath. She asked him if he was sad about Heath's death. He said he doesn't feel anything about people who kill themselves through suicide. Its total BS.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

By all accounts, it was most likely an accidental overdose from a cocktail of anti-anxiety and sleeping pills.  Way to jump to conclusions, huh?  We don't know anything yet.  Some people...

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

From what I've heard, which could be 90% fabrication, it's hard to tell, it was an accidental overdose. Which seems to make more sense.

I'm glad I don't have your assistant teacher, Melody, I'd probably have a lot of arguments with him.

I read on Foxnews today that they found a rolled up $20 bill with a 'substance' on it that is now being  tested. Not sure how much validity there is to that, but I guess we shall soon find out.

As I go back to check the site, they have updated saying that there was no residue found on the rolled up bill.

Sean, I love you man, but Fox?  Really?  Did you hear John Gibson JOKING about Heath's death less than 2 hours after the story broke?  It was utterly vile.  Everyone associated with Fox is a cretinous idiot.  Come on over from the Dark Side and join us at MSNBC.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

I'm certain there's something nefarious going on.  But seriously folks, did anoyone hear what John Gibson said?  I think he owes the Ledger family and Michelle Williams an apology.

And the Phelps camp did release a disgusting statement about this, just like we all knew they would.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

Well that's going from the ridiculous to the sublime, isn't it?  John Gibson (like so many of his collegues at Fox) is, of course, an ass.  There really seems to be a contest over there to see who can be the most offensive.  As far as the persistant rumors are concerned, I think the 24-hour news cycle is to blame.  They're all so desperate to scoop each other that they continually report rumors, gossip, and unsubstantiated crap from unnamed "inside sources".  If television news was just aired a few hours a day, there wouldn't be this constant feeding frenzy.  And there wouldn't be so many jobs for creeps like Gibson, Bill O'Reilly and their ilk.

Sadly, this kind of "journalism" has become so successful that legitimate news outlets have felt the pressure to move toward this sort of reportage.  Last year, when Anna Nicole Smith died, CNN and all of the networks reported every lurid detail with the same seeming glee as the tabloids and FoxNews did.  That was sad, but at least I had the impression that Anna Nicole Smith, the queen of excess, wouldn't have wanted it any other way.  Heath Ledger made every effort to live quietly and have a private life with his young family.  Making jokes about his tragic death seems way beyond anything resembling decency.  Just business as usual at Fox, though!

Twelve years ago on "60 Minutes" Andy Rooney delivered an editorial following the suicide of Kurt Cobain that offended many people.  And it was nothing like the lip-smacking enjoyment with which Gibson reported Ledger's death.  It was just Rooney's traditional gasbag routine, an old man running his mouth.  But the following week his apology was so humble it almost made you feel sorry for the poor old coot.  You felt sure that Don Hewitt had delivered the message loud and clear: you will fix this or you'll be looking for another job (at 76).  Legitimate news sources govern their on-air "talent".  Despite a brilliant career spanning half a century, Rooney came close to being fired over that incident.  Rooney (and Don Imus) are not allowed to say anything they choose.  I'm sure the kind of behavior that got them in trouble would get you a bonus and a slap on the back over at Fox.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

And no Fox Noise assbag ever apologizes when they're caught with their decency down around their ankles, either, do they?  I really hope no one plays that tape for Heath's family.  Or tells them about the Phelps nutbags.

My birthday is ruined forever! :crying::crying::crying:
Tina told me about HL's death via text message. Dudes, you cannot imagine how shocked I was! And I was almost going crazy because I had no internet access. Next morning I checked every online source I knew. I just couldn't believe it. I was really looking forward to my 25th birthday, but I didn't expect something like that! sad

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

I don't give a sh** about what people post on imdb. Most of them are morons. And I don't believe he did hard drugs. Maybe he really had problems to sleep. But then again, you should think that a 28 year old knows what can happen if you take too many sleeping pills. Maybe, if the pills didn't work, he should have tried some alternatives.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

Yeah, I agree with what Anne said.  There's no point in fighting with people on IMDb.   If they want to believe he did hard drugs, who cares.  I don't believe he was on drugs but he might have, he might not have we'll never know for sure.   If he was on drugs, it wouldn't change my opinion of him one bit.  It's his life, he was a grown man, he could do whatever he wanted, he was still a really good actor even if he was on drugs.

I've learned to pick my battles on IMDb and this is one I really don't want to step into.  Sounds ugly.  I've had enough ugliness to last me for a while.

I agree completely, Laura. Heath is great no matter what. Off topic but its the same thing with the actor River Phoenix. Hes 1 of my fave actors and I will always love him even though he did drugs. And if Heath did too then that doesn't change a thing to me. He was still a great person!!

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

So it looks like John Gibson apologized:

Fox News's Gibson Apologizes for Remarks About Ledger

Fox News commentator John Gibson apologized on his TV show, The Big Story, Thursday for remarks he made on his radio talk show the previous day about the death of Heath Ledger. During the show, he had mocked the late actor as a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" and laughed that he may have killed himself in reaction to the plunge in the stock market. He then played a clip from Brokeback Mountain -- a movie that Gibson had once described as a "gay agenda movie" -- in which Ledger utters the famous line "I wish I knew how to quit you." Well, Gibson mocked, "he found out how to quit you." He then played another clip in which Ledger remarked, "We're dead," then repeated the line himself laughing. On Thursday's telecast, Gibson said, "To anyone offended by my comments, I'm sorry. But I'm also sorry Heath Ledger is no longer alive and with us." The gay-rights group GLAAD said it planned to send a petition to Fox News asking why it continues to provide a platform for Gibson's "cruel and tasteless comments."

It's not enough.

That's the guy with the stiff hair that looks like a combed back blonde brillo pad. They should fire his ass asap. But they likely won't.

The last time I really watched Fox Channel was during 9/11 because they seemed to have the better camera angles that day. But I haven't really watched them since.

And that Bill O'Reilly idiot.

Fair and balanced - my ass.

I watched mostly CNN or sometimes MSNBC for news.

Re: Holy Hell! No Way!!!

I'm addicted to MSNBC.  I love Keith Olbermann and Dan Abrams.  Doesn't matter to me what Gibson says.  I don't believe for one second that he was sincere.  He was told to apologize by his higher-ups because Fox Noise did not want a fight with GLAAD, pure and simple.  He showed his true colors with the bile he spewed.  No turning back now.  It's almost as offensive as O'Lielly's assertion that there's no such thing as a homeless vet living under a bridge. Yeah, tell that to the one they found dead under a bridge last week, assbag.
