That's a long time. I barely go to the movies anymore. I would go to the $1 theatre but there's even more distractions by tons of stupid people.

The check I sent General Mills for the cereal bowls finally cleared. One entire month.
Wonder how long till I actually receive them.

Here's the pic of the animated series in the Mach 5 case.
While I like the idea, it just look weird. It's too short in length, no fins & no windshield.

Got the dvd prices off of dvdtalk forum.
Target:
Speed Racer >>>> Low Price ($16.99)
Speed Racer: Deluxe Edition w/Digital Copy >>>> $22.99
Circuit City:
Speed Racer w/Digital Copy Download >>>> $14.99
FYI: Both regular editions comes with the ability to download a Digital Copy.
I have no idea what the Deluxe Edition @ Target is or if it includes more extras or if they are just including a second disc with a digital copy.

I can't wait to buy it. Pretty soon Speed Racer is going to be at my local videostore for only 5 or 6 dollars. They always get too many copies of new movies and end up selling them cheap.

Finally received those General Mills cereal bowls.
They're so cute.

Well, I watched this on DVD. I'm not going to say much about the movie because I like to stay positive. One thing kept hitting me while I was watching it. Christina Ricci really resembles Susan Sarandon. (I know I know, I sound like one of the IMDB people) It is really just the eyes(they both have the same big slightly bulging eyes), but I kept thinking she would have been more believable as Sarandon's child than Emile was.
Joan: So, my true nature is to be a catalyst? That is mad anti-climatic.
God: Anti climactic. Anti-climatic means you're against the weather.

I will have to wait till Friday to buy it.
Target has an exclusive set that comes with the mockumentary that they originally released around May of this year. I already have that, so I'll get it from CC for $14.99, instead of spending $22.99 for the Target set.

Bought it today. Stupid Circuit City was sold out (I swear they always are sold out of sale items). Price matched it at Meijer.
When I watch it I'll let you guys know what I thought of it.

Watched it over the weekend.
First off I really liked that they kept the logo from the cartoon in the opening credits.
I will admit that when young Speed was imagining racing in the classroom I thought "Oh my God, this is going to be a little kids movie."
It was kind of confusing at first during the first race when they would go back and forth between young Speed & Rex racing and now Speed racing and trying to beat Rex's record. But it was a really good move to make the Mach 4 red instead of white, or it would have been really confusing.
Next comes some boring parts involving Royalton and Speed deciding to accept or decline his offer. One of the bad effects is when Spritle & Chim Chim are going down the corridor in the cart thing.
I think the best race in the entire movie is the Casa Cristo Classic. It really shows off the Mach 5 and it's abilities. Also I like the fight sequence in the middle of the race which is something they always did in the cartoon. Great cues of the original cartoon music in the finale of the race.
I really like the Racer X character. Probably the best character in the entire film. I like the scene where Speed and Racer X meet on the racecourse and X takes off his mask. I like that throughout the entire movie they help each other like brothers, which they are really, but Speed doesn't know that. I really like that they bond together like brothers during the movie.
The final race is very good. At first I didn't really care for the Mach 6 at all, but it has grown on me. Still me favorite is the Mach 5. The use of flashbacks during the final race is very emotional. The only 2 things bad during the final race is the sequence where there are spikes in the middle of the course, no way at that speed could any driver comprehend getting around them. The other is when the Mach 6 is riding down the track on it's nose.
I really liked that during the end credits they begin with the original Japanese versions theme song and then goes into using clips from the Speed Racer cartoon and using voices of the cartoon as well.
I didn't have a problem with the colors at all. Sure it was hard to follow who was who during the races, but as long as I could keep track of Speed Racer and either the Mach 5 or Mach 6 I have no problem.
Overall I really like the movie. One of the better summer movies I've seen in a long time.

Oh by the way Larry is wrong in regards to the Mach 5 getting destroyed. Actually it's the Mach 6 that gets destroyed early on in the film. Then he races in the rally in the Mach 5. He can't race in the Mach 5 in the final race because it doesn't meet the specs for cars that race in that race (something about wheel base).
That's why they re-build the Mach 6 and race it in the final race.

Like I said, it was very hard to tell what was going on and my eyes were glazed over for most of the movie LOL. It was all a blur by the next day and I wasn't taking notes.
