OMG, did you hear the story of the little Chinese boy who's marching with Yao Ming as China's flag-bearer? He survived the earthquake in May where 20 of the 30 kids in his class were killed. He escaped the rubble but he went back in and saved 3 more of his classmates by leading them out. They asked him why he did it and he said he was a class leader and a hall monitor. It was his responsibility. He's 9 years old. Incredible. You wanna know what a hero is? That's a hero.

They interviewed Yao and he said he almost did cry. He sung the praises of little Lin Hau as he held him up. The kid even speaks English.

I'm certainly in luv. He's been swimming competitively since he was 5 and he was about to give it up and get a "real" job after a terrible race, but his family tried to convince him not to give up just yet. Then he was asked to try to qualify for the Olympics and he decided to give it one last shot. He went to the meet and not only won several medals, he broke records. Of course he qualified and he went on to win more meets in the lead-up to the Olympics. Interestingly, he trains on his own and created his own program for preparing to compete in the big show. He has a real shot to medal in the games. Malta is agog over him. Could be really fun to watch.

I was watching something else and my cable went wonky. I did watch some of that earlier though. What's really painful is watching them stretch those tiny little girls over backward in a donut shape. Yeeeeouch!
