Good luck and much success for your job interview this afternoon, Anne!! Kick ass, they need to give you a job! Just be yourself and try not to be too nervous. I know that's easier said than done, but just remember that they're not out to get you or give you grades. They just want to know who you are and if they think you'll fit in at their workplace. It's really not that scary.
Think of Chris and how many auditions he's already had to do. I bet he was nervous for those where he really wanted the part very badly. Just take your James pic with you and look at it for reassurance if you need it.
Show 'em, girl! (Not the picture!)

I wish I could do that, but the lady called at 8am and cancelled the appointment. Now I have to go next week. <sigh>

Well, at least it's only postponed and not cancelled completely. You'll do it, no matter when.

Here are some news from job front. I had an appointment at our local employment agency today (once again) and they offered me to do a second education as an "Specialist (m/f) in labour promotion" (that is the English translation I found on their website, I don't know if it's true). More information about that when I figured out how to translate it.

Hey, that's cool! All the best of luck that it'll happen! What will you have to do in that job, then? Try to help find jobs for unemployed people?

Well, not exactly. But it has something to do with that. I just can't explain it in English, sorry. But now that I am going to earn my own money soon (I hope), I can do what I always wanted to do: Do a Business English class at the Volkshochschule. I'll send you a link via email.

News: I got a letter from the employment agency and they have invited me to a selection process. Now I don't know if I should be glad about that or not, because that thing's next Monday. Monday of all other days of the week! I'm not happy about that yet.

Thanks. I'll try.
My mom said, Monday is a good sign, because it's "that" day. But I'm not so sure. I mean, what if they don't take me? Then I'll be reminded every year on my birthday of that thing. Great. That's not something I expected for my birthday.

Aw, come on, don't let it get you down that it's your birthday. You'll do fine. Keep all the birthday presents unwrapped until after you get back home. That way you can give yourself a really nice treat. And I second Deb: Go, get 'em!

Yeah, my mom's all crazy about it. She keeps saying it's a good omen. But I'm still not so sure.
Ah well, I'll just go there and see what happens.

Little Update: Got a letter from the employment agency, they invited me to a job interview.
Wow. I'm kinda surprised, I didn't expect that, because I thought I really sucked at this test thing I did on my birthday.

Okay, so today was the day. I came homw an hour and a half ago and I felt terrible. No, horrible or awful. Awfully terrible. terribly awful. Choose whatever you want.
I don't think they're going to take me, since there are only four free jobs and they have a lot more people who want the job. I know, I wasn't quite convinced when I had this selection process and they still invited me to an interview, but I don't think it went very good. First I was a few minutes late, which sucked already. But I didn't do that on purpose, of course. Then they asked me some questions I wasn't prepared for. I mean, I of course did prepare myself for the interview, but then they wanted to know everything super-exactly. Why am I the right person for this job? Why should they take me? At some point I had no more answers. And because I had been late, I was sooo nervous during the whole interview. A woman asked me how many interviews I had already. Well, what could I say? This job interview was the SECOND I had in my life. Yeah, really. Two years of joblessness, two interviews, including this one.
I was so happy to have my mp3player with me on the bus back home, so I was able to calm myself down a little by listening to Snow Patrol. And now I want this day to end.

The interview was today??? Why didn't you say anything? I would have crossed fingers and everything. I'm so sorry to hear that you don't think it went well. I could have sent you some interview preparation questions, because there are those questions that they ask almost each time, including the one you mentioned: Why would YOU be the right person for us to hire? I was asked that question in almost every interview in one way or another. Oh, well, better luck next time, huh? But sometimes even if you think the interview went horrible, they might still take you. One tends to be more critical with oneself than how others see you.
And I was looking for a job for over a year any only had four interview too before I started working with IFE. It's just the way it goes. And it sucks big time. If it doesn't work out, you have to see it as a chance to learn, a new experience to draw back on for the next time. I just hope it's not gonna take another year until you're invited to the next interview. Crossing fingers.
Now go veg on the couch and treat yourself with something good and nice. I'm working from home right now because the plumber came in the afternoon and fixed my shower. Now I can shower at a decent temperature again. Yay!!! Well, at least I hope so, I haven't showered yet since he fixed it. But he needs to come back tomorrow to fix something else. Great....

You're working from home? Oh, didn't know that. I sent you a short mail. Hm, better should have sent it to your home address ...
I didn't post the date of the interview here? Oh. Must have forgotten about that. But yeah, maybe they're going to take me because they have some pitfulness for me, because I had only two job interviews. Haha.

I wasn't planning on working from home. I only went home at 2:30 PM because of the plumber. I spontaneously decided it would be stupid to go back to the office afterwards, so I packed Linus and am reviewing a monitoring report or two now. Don't worry, my mail in the office isn't being forwarded to anyone today since I will be back tomorrow morning.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Here's one good thing, though: You have the experience to draw back on for the next job interview. Maybe that time you will be just a little less nervous.

Okay, I actually didn't want to talk about that already, but since I posted it in the JoA section I guess I have to explain.
My dad recently had the idea to put an advert in the paper to find me a job. I was very upset at first because he did it without informing me about that. I thought okay, noone is going to answer this, because he also put in three typing mistakes (and among them was a REALLY embarrassing one ...) but well, when I came home from class this afternoon there actually was a letter. It said I should call them to make an appointment for an job interview. But when I called them they were already gone, so I have to call on Tuesday again. So there actually is no job interview yet but who knows, maybe there will be one soon.
That's the story behind it. It sounds quite good though, they seem willing to take beginners too, because they said something like "We want to familiarize you with our pre-press workflow, blah, blah, blah ..." (Sorry, I can't translate it right.) Wish me luck!
