I had to look him up on IMDB to even find out who you were talking about.

You might not have followed that discussion, but we actually met Michael in person when we went to LA in October. And most of us have seen him in a lot of things now, not just Joan of Arcadia.

Today I actually found out he read an audio book in 2006, Flush, by Carl Hiaasen. I'm tempted to buy it, but it's not that cheap. Might be a cool thing to put on my x-mas/birthday present list.

At least it's available on Amazon Germany. I'm going to think about getting it for my birthday, too.

Re: All Things Michael Welch

play.com about the book Flush, by Carl Hiaasen. Oh, spoilers.

Noah's dad, Paine, is a kind but slightly irresponsible fisherman, passionate about saving the local Florida aquatic life. When Paine discovers that a local businessman is running a scam from his casino boat, he takes the law into his own hands, sinks the boat and ends up in jail. The scam involves releasing the effluent from the boat's toilets directly into the water, to avoid the cost of disposing of it safely. Noah and Abby, his sister, take up the fight on Dad's behalf and enlist the help of Shelly, former girlfriend of Dodgy Businessman. Shelly knows that DB is up to no good and comes up with a plan to prove it. She gets a job as a barmaid back on the casino boat and plans to sneak a huge load of coloured dye into the toilets. Meanwhile... Noah and his sister have never known their paternal grandfather but have always been told that he died in mysterious circumstances in South America. As they delve deeper into the mystery, an elderly stranger turns up and seems to be watching over them, even intervening to save Noah when he's being beaten up by DB's horrible son... On the night planned for Shelly's mission, Noah and Abby are watching from a small rowing boat.Unfortunately they are spotted from the deck of the casino boat by a violent thug who works for DB. As he raises his gun to take a shot at the kids, he is pushed aside by the mysterious old man. When the toilets are flushed that night, the bay turns orange, the coastguard are called and the terrible scam revealed. Dad gets let out of prison and of course the stranger turns out to be their grandpa!

Sounds exciting. I'll bet Mike sounds great reading it. Lots of funny voices. big_smile
You got me all excited and it's a children's book. lol Mm, might get it anyway if I find both the audiobook and the book together. Might be a nice way to start teaching our kids a bit bilingual. They are getting into this TV-show that's part english, part finnish...

Hey, how come I've never heard of this writer. He's written so many books.. some for adults too.http://www.play.com/Books/Books/6-/Sear … chsource=0

Re: All Things Michael Welch

Children's book?  Carl Hiaasen is one of our greatest American satirical novelists.  I had no idea he'd written a children's book.  Most often he writes snarky mysteries set in Miami.  He's absolutely hilarious.  Writes great political satire too.

I hate waiting for stuff in the mail. Twice before I ordered 2 shows on DVD and it took over a month to get both of them.

Re: All Things Michael Welch

Well I got if off from the amazon marketplace from a British seller, that usually takes a while. If I would have ordered it from amazon directly, I probably had it already now but the seller sold it for 10 Euro cheaper, so I thought waiting a few more days wouldn't be that bad. I just hope he/she'll send it next week.

It was there earlier.  Wonder if they removed it.  Weird.

It might have been a duplicate that Ryanne later removed. Here's another pic of him and his girlfriend:

Re: All Things Michael Welch

He really likes that sock-story. This morning I watched some video with some Twilight-actors on stage with fans asking them questions and he told a short version about the socks again. Seemed to me a bit like the other actors got sick of him talking more than the others. Didn't really seem like he liked that interview alot, as part of a group interview. He tried hogging the spotlight all the time. lol
