Re: The Invisible

Deb asked if I could find out any info on the DVD and whether or not it's Unrated.

http://www.dvdfile.com/index.php?option … &Itemid=15

We have full specs for the 16 October Blu-ray Disc release of The Invisible from Buena Vista. This beyond-the-grave thriller about two kids who have the power to see beyond the boundary of life and death will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p widescreen transfer, a PCM 5.1 track, two audio commentaries, a handful of deleted scenes, and a few music videos. The SRP is $34.95.

http://www.dvdfile.com/index.php?option … &Itemid=15

he Buena Vista shocker The Invisible will find its way onto both Blu-ray Disc and standard definition DVD releases on 16 October. This creepy-crawly thriller is about a young man who dies yet doesn't quite leave our world (he becomes…invisible). It will arrive on DVD with a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mix. On Blu-ray Disc, it will have a 1080p widescreen transfer and both PCM 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mixes. Bonuses on both releases are identical: two commentary tracks, some deleted scenes, and a few music videos. SRP for the Blu-ray Disc is $34.95; the DVD will retail for $29.95.

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65698

extras include:

    * Deleted Scenes (13mins)
    * Music Videos: "The Kill" by 30 Seconds to Mars and "Taking Back Control" by Sparta
    * Audio Commentary with director David S. Goyer and writer Christine Roum
    * Audio Commentary with writer Mick Davis

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65697

Features include:

    * 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
    * English DD5.1 Surround
    * French and Spanish language tracks and subtitles
    * Deleted Scenes (13mins)
    * Music Videos: "The Kill" by 30 Seconds to Mars and "Taking Back Control" by Sparta
    * Audio Commentary with director David S. Goyer and writer Christine Roum
    * Audio Commentary with writer Mick Davis

I even did a Google search for "The Invisible Unrated DVD", which did bring up a strange sounding DVD called "The Erotic Misadventures of the Invisible Man".

Circuit City only lists the standard DVD and Blu-Ray editions, no unrated version.
As does Wal-Mart.com.

So I couldn't find any info online about an Unrated DVD.

Re: The Invisible

Hey, we get a commentary from Mick Davis.  Cool.  Maybe he'll have a lot to say about all the ridiculous changes Disney insisted on.  And I'm sure Goyer and his friend who wrecked the script will defend the final cut with plenty of phony zeal.

Re: The Invisible

The person I was talking to on IMDb has seen an advanced screening copy of the DVD.  Weird that it has the deleted scenes actually put back in, huh?

I think they sometimes do that. We have a couple of DVDs like that too.

Re: The Invisible

Sometimes it's optional that you can either watch the deleted scenes by themselves or watch the movie as a whole with the deleted scenes included. I remember seeing that too, though I don't know if any of my DVDs actually has that feature.

Re: The Invisible

I think our Brokeback Mountain DVD has it. As far as I remember there are some little scenes where it switches from German to English (if you watch it in German), that's kinda cool. Well, for me, not for my Dad. LOL

Re: The Invisible

According to one of the people on IMDb, you can see the extended version of TI, with some of Chris's stuff put back in at joox.net.  He says it's DVD quality.  I haven't checked it out yet.  Will do so from home tonight.

Re: The Invisible

It's possible that this is either a last minute change that BV did to try to boost interest since the film didn't do to well at the theaters, or it could be an exclusive release where only a certain store chain will get the "Extended Edition" and all others will get the regular theatrical cut.

The feature where you can either view more than two versions of  the film is called "Seamless Branching". A few DVDs do offer that, usually for Director's Cuts or Extended Editions. I have the Disney version of the film Beauty and the Beast and I am fairly sure than it has at least 4 versions of the film all on the same DVD.

I visit many forums, some which discuss store exclusives. So if there is an "Exclusive" release  on DVD, I'll post it here.

But so far, the only "Official" info is that it's the theatrical cut on the DVD. But, it's possible that Disney could have changed their minds after the announcement.

Re: The Invisible

I doubt that the movie will do well on DVD. They just messed up with this one. If they had done proper promotion and cut it together better, it might have ended up being decent, both as a movie and at the box office. But I'll buy the DVD anyway, and it'll probably be the standard version, whatever that might turn out to be.

Re: The Invisible

It's there on joox.  I looked at their list and it's there.  It's not in alphabetical order if that's what you were expecting.

Then I must be blind. I looked again and still can't find it. Where exactly is it? In the newly added movies? I looked there twice. When I click on Movies on the right, it's not listed either.

OK, it was there two hours ago.  I swear.  I even read all the comments about it.  Maybe they took it down after they found out that guy posted about it on IMDb.  That friggin's sucks!

Cool. I'll try to download it. It says 1:51 as length. Is that the "extended" version?

Oh, I just saw it's joox. I love joox. I used to watch some Life On Mars from there. (Life on Mars is a British cop show, in case you don't know.)

Re: The Invisible

You could probably download it yourself. Just go to the link and click on "download". I'll take a while, though. But I can also send you a copy when I have it. I'll have the DVD in October or November too.

Re: The Invisible

One hour, 51 minutes is 111 minutes, so yes, it's the extended version.  The theatrical cut was 98 minutes long.

Re: The Invisible

What kinda sucks is that the downloaded version of it has a .divx extension and it was somehow coded so that you can't fast forward. At all. So you can't look at certain scenes individually and you have the watch the whole movie in one go. I don't think I can make screencaps off Chris's scenes from this one.

At least the quality is decent. I think I'm gonna wait for the DVD to watch the movie again, though, then take another look at this extended version to see if there's any deleted scenes in it that might not be on the DVD. Maybe this version is even from the DVD if they decided to release it in a way so that you can see the whole movie with the deleted scenes inserted.

Great, Cooper had another crashdown and the download was already almost 50%. Now Firefox won't work anymore, so I'll shut Cooper down now and wait until tomorrow. roll

(I think I am going to buy another laptop when I have a job and my dad can keep that one. I can't use a laptop that crashes all the time. roll

Re: The Invisible

According to the guy on IMDb, the old man has been restored and so has Pete's interrogation by the police.  He couldn't remember a scene where Pete steals Nick's money though.  So it looks like at least "some" of Chris's stuff has been put back in.
