Google Map yourself

I thought it maybe interesting to see where we all live.

Don't be specific for obvious reasons, but provide a link to the general location of where you live and if you can provide some details on things nearby.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=honeytree … 1&ct=title

If you scroll down from that location along Independence Blvd you'll see a street called Alexander Circle. That is a Shell gas station where I get my gas.

You'll notice that I live near an industrial park. From the starting location move right along Naperville Rd to Marquette Dr. The large building at that corner is Sharp Electronics. At the corner of Marquette & S. Bolingbrook Dr. is a newly remodeled McDonalds.

Now follow S. Bolingbrook Dr./ Route 53. The very large parking lot just south of I-55 is an auto auction place.

Now continue Northbound on Route 53. At the corner of Route 53 & E. Briarcliff Rd. there is a shopping center just to the south of that on the eastside. In that is a Walmart I shop at.

Continue North on Route 53 to E. Boughton Rd. Now go eastward on Boughton until you get to the 355 Tollway. You'll see 2 shopping centers. The one closest to 355 is the Meijer I do grocery shopping at. Across the Janes Ave. is the newer shopping center with a Circuit City, Barnes & Noble, Hallmark, Macy's and a whole bunch more.

Now if you westward on Boughton this time until you get all the way to N. Weber Road. You'll see 3 shopping centers. The one at the 1 O'Clock position has a Target and a Jewel Food Store. The one at roughly 8 O'Clock position has another Meijer, Borders, Home Depot and the now closed Circuit City. The one called "Bolingbrook Center" has the Best Buy I shop at. Also in the Bolingbrook Center is another Hallmark.

You'll notice a small airport near that intersection as well. Basically small planes like Piper's and Cessna's take off from there and they approach the airport by going right over the Best Buy store.

If you wish feel free to add a link to the general location of where you live and give some details so others can get an idea of where you live.

Re: Google Map yourself

OK.. I'll play. big_smile http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= … iwloc=addr and yeah, of course I'm not putting up my address, just the neighborhood. big_smile

So as you can see I don't exactly live in downtown. One might even say that I live in the outskirts of out little city. It's a nice neighborhood, lots of houses close to me. There's apartmentbuildings closer to the river shore but that's not where I am. I'm about a mile away from the river.

You see there's this big island in the river. That's our downtown, where most of to services and restaurants and small stores and such are. There's some big markets, most grocerie stores and gas stations and living neighborhoods on the "mainland" as some call it.

And clearly visible in  there is the Finnish-Swedish-borderline that's right on the west shore of that downtown-island and follows the river for hundreds of kilometers. I can walk to another country. I can shop there and never need to stop at the customs. Good thing for honest people, easy. Too bad it makes drugsmugling easy too and this is one of the most used route for that, if I recall right...

There's a video link too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNWZfFNjEaM
Here's some tourists crossing the border from Sweden to Finland at some time last winter or fall.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d1DMzl6pp0 I really don't miss those times.. they were still making the new roads... They're all ready and beautiful now. Maybe I should go take some film too when there sunny and beautiful.. it's cloudy in all  the videos I found. And honestly, this past year has been like living in Forks... roll

What else could I tell you?

Re: Google Map yourself

The map tracker is very essential. It helps me locate my contact in any part of the world. Amazing!!
