Re: Jacko had a heart attack

My word, I was in such shock when I first heard this.  I first heard of it on Facebook, before there was any confirmation anywhere else, I have to admit it was pretty cool how the news spread like wildfire.  Within maybe five minutes of my hearing it, all the TV broadcasts were interrupted to report the news.   sad   Even now, there seems to be a hope in the very back of my mind that this is all just a rumor, and he's still alive and hiding out somewhere.

I actually wasn't the greatest fan of his, although I did like most of his music in the '80s and early '90s, and I enjoyed his videos.  I greatly enjoyed watching MTV2 on Sunday and all the classic videos they were playing again.  When it became apparent how messed up he was though, I lost all interest.  But I even had a slight crush on him back in the day.

RIP Michael, you're an icon, and will remain so for a long, long time.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

As crazy as this might sound, I don't believe he's dead.  It's just too convenient.  He was hundreds of millions of dollars in debt and he didn't want to be in the public eye anymore, so he either faked his own death or killed himself.   He'll pop up in Vegas someday with Elvis and Tupac.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Today they're saying he wanted to mix a cocktail of drugs that would make him seem too sick to do the concerts in London that he was not physically well enough to actually do.  So he may have killed himself, though I'm not sure it was intentional.

I read yesterday that in addition to Lupus, he had a arare genetic disease that was destroying his lungs, that he was taking treatments and would sometimes feel OK and seem well, but he never could've done those 50 shows, or even one.  At the very least he would've had to lipsynch because he didn't have the lung capacity to actually sing anymore.

There was so much that was apparently wrong with that man.  Lupus, lung disease, nose cancer, vitiligo, and don't forget the burns on his head...

Yes, he'd apparently been wearing wigs for years too.  He had only patchy hair and it was gray.  It just all very sad.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

I think in the end he will have been killed by prescription drugs, just like Elvis.  He was surrounded by yes men(some of whom were doctors) who gave him whatever he wanted, and eventually it destroys the body. The drugs may not end up being the actual cause of death, but the years of over use, and the destruction it can cause will be.

I hope so!  A drug dealer is a drug dealer, even if s/he went to medical school.  I'm also glad to see that they're proceeding against Anna Nicole Smith's "doctor" and pimp, er fiance. roll  When people surround themselves with people who never disagree with them and cater to their every weakness, it's a recipe for disaster.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Jermaine's on ET right now and he said they brought the kids in to see Michael in his hospital bed and say goodbye to him after he had passed.  So they saw him and "got it over with" and now "they're fine".   Oh yeah, those kids are gonna be fiiiiiiiine roll

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

It'll take those kids years to recover from his death, if they ever do.  It's bad enough to lose a parent, but he was the only parent they've ever known.  Those kids are never gonna be ok and the custody battles will probably be the least of their problems as they grow up.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Yes, more than one report has referred to him as skeletal.  They say he was only eating one vegan meal a day.  And with all those drugs, it's no wonder he lost a ton of weight.  He was always really slim anyway so I'm sure that didn't help.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Okay, I have to get it off my chest.  This memorial is costing my city $3.5 million dollars at a time in which we are laying off city employees.  And AEG (who is getting a fortune in free advertising out of this) has refused to help offset the costs.  I'm sorry the guy is dead, but I am now more annoyed than sorry.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

I totally understand, Rick.  I'm not as nearly angry as you of course because I don't live in LA, but it does piss me off.  AEG is pretty low-life, aren't they?  First they tried to screw Michael and now they're just reeping the rewards of their dastardly deeds.  Despicable.

I'm watching it on and off and the only part of it that affected me at all was when his daughter, Paris got up to say something.  That broke my heart.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Michael's people claim that Michael only signed on with AEG for 10 concerts.  But they upped it first to 40 (I think) and then to 50, without his consent.  I don't see how they could do that, but that's the claim.  Michael was even quoted as saying "I went to bed committed to 10 concerts and woke up committed to 50."  He was supposedly absolutely livid at their underhandedness, but he needed the money so desperately that he went along with it, even though he probably wasn't anywhere near physically capable of doing 50 shows.  There was a big, long article about it in the NY Times last week.  You could probably Google it.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Here is where you can read about how AEG isn't going to lose any money
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_b … gaine.html

And when they start having the tribute concerts (One is already in the planning for London) and the dvds of the over 100 hours of rehearsal footage they have.  They will make a fortune off of this.

Is Blanket really holding an action figure of Michael?  I can't decide if that's sweet or disturbing...

Oh, it is definitely a Michael doll.  It has the cast on its arm.  Remember the cast?  I think it's kinda sweet.  Probably gives him some comfort.

I think it started at like 3am our time, so havent had a chance to watch it yet. But im not worried. I am sure every network is going to be fighting to show the highlights of it. I just feel so sorry for his children.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Yeah, I just saw what Paris said on ABC News and it made me cry.  So did Jennifer Hudson singing Will You Be There.  I ADORE that song.  It's from Free Willy, which is a movie that I love so ridiculously much I can't even explain it.  That song just destroys me, so beautiful.
