I actually just watched Free Willy the other night and just sat there thinking "it would be funny if he fell on the kid..."

All the Jackson men wore one glove today.

Shame on you, Laura, wanting that beautiful whale to break his butt on that surly little kid!  yikes

In reality, a whale can't make a jump like that.  He would have at least smacked him off the rocks with his tail.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

That, I have no problem with.  Surly kids in animal movies who get turned into sweethearts by the end are such a tired cliche.

Oh, hey, meant to mention that my favorite thing today was listening to original MTV veejays, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Nina Blackwood do a radio tribute to Michael on XM's 80's on 8 channel.  They're all regular deejays there.  But where the hell was Martha Quinn?  She does a once a week show and little trivia time fillers on the channel.  I mean, come one, she's got something BETTER to do?  I doubt that!

Apparently, I'm not the only one who loves Will You Be There.  Jennifer Hudson's rendition was the most replayed thing across all TV networks tonight.  I must've heard it 20 times.  Not that I minded in the slightest.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Just heard an awesome rumor on ET about who the real father of Prince & Paris might be... former child star and friend of Mike, Mark Lester.  You older folks might remember Mark as Oliver Twist in the great '68 musical Oliver!  Why do I think it's awesome?  Because I've been a Mark Lester fan since I was a kid.   He was so beautiful.  And he's holding up pretty well.  Those would be some good genes.

Can you see the resemblance?

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Oh God, guys.  Have you seen the new footage of Michael's hair catching on fire?  It's horrific.  That poor guy.  It had to hurt awfully.  Anyone who's made fun of him for that, I don't think you ever will again if you watch that video.  Some people are saying it never grew back after that, so he always wore wigs from then on, which I bet was a drag.  The more we learn, the more tragic it all seems.

I always felt so sorry for him and his family. He just was always so talented but seemed like such a soft soul that the limelight just destroyed him

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

The thing that made me go "wait... what?" about the video of him on fire was that he didn't really seem to notice until everyone else did.  I'm not saying that it didn't hurt like hell, but it just seemed off to me that he kept dancing instead of, you know, getting help.   There is no possible way he wouldn't have known he was on fire.  The pain is excruciating.  There's a video on YouTube from the movie Man in the Mirror, he didn't catch on fire like he did really, but he immediately went into shock and fell down the stairs and he passed out at the bottom when his crew came to get him.  Seems weird, but the fictional representation seemed more realistic than what really happened.  And hair can't grow on scar tissue, so he either wore wigs or had hair fibers implanted.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

The stuff in his hair was called Jheri Curl.  Very popular back in those days.  And apparently highly flamable.

There's even a crack about Mike in the definition.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Back in '82, I had a friend named Tommy who wore his hair in a Jheri curl so I've touched it and smelled it, and it wasn't really unpleasant or anything.  It was a little oily and smelled like any other hair product... kind of chemically but with a perfume added.

Perhaps if all this was released earlier, then people might have not seen him as a freak so much.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

I assume it is coming out now for legal reasons.  Either Micheal was keeping them from releasing it and the family has now okayed it or maybe because he is dead, and therefore has less rights, maybe there is no way to stop it now.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

I can't stop watching the Jacksons mini-series on VH1.  I really wanted to see it again after Michael passed, but it wasn't really what I wanted to do tonight.  Still, it's on, I got sucked in and I think I'm stuck.

ET's gonna talk to Mark Lester tonight and apparently he's decided he might indeed be at least Paris's bio-dad after all.  Wow.  This could get interesting...

The "other" VH1 movie about Jacko, Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story, is very bizarre. I watched it a few years ago, and sorta enjoyed it. It has a lot of Canadians in it, and was also directed by Allan Moyle, a Canuck who also directed Empire Records & Times Square, a movie that I recall liking a lot when I saw it thirty ( ! ) years ago at the Varsity 1.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Yeah, they've showed excerpts from that one during their daily Jacko coverage on ET.  It does look odd.  I love Allan Moyle though, since Times Square is probably the seminal movie of my entire life.

I thought the two girls in the movie were cute. I think that Diner is the seminal movie of my life. Also, to a lesser extent (since I never smoked up), Dazed and Confused.

Re: Jacko had a heart attack

Robin Johnson, literally pulled right of the street to be in the movie, was remarkable I thought.  I have the script to the movie too.  It's very different, but equally cool.  The commentary with Allan & Robin on the now out of print special edition DVD is absolutely priceless.  This new movie that's being made about The Runaways, I've read that script now too, and it reminds me a great deal of Times Square.  And Robin Johnson always reminded me of Joan Jett anyway, so I'm having a lot of fun following the development of this new movie now, and turning people on to the ancient one.  big_smile
