Mercy

I just heard I will start working on the series tomorrow. So, if the show sounds interesting to you PLEASE watch it and tell your friends to watch it (especially if they have a neilsen box).  I would love to have a hit series for a change.

Re: Mercy

Is it the one with James Caan and his son?  And Troy Garity, Jane Fonda & Tom Hayden's son?  It DOES look interesting!  Best of luck, Rick.  I hope it goes well.  Especially among Neilsen families.

I am assuming that this is the show you are talking about Rick. I never really got into any of the hospital dramas but I will remember to check this out. However Australia normally only gets shows once they are already a hit in the US. I will keep an eye out though smile

Yes, Kate, that is the one.

And I did the first episode last spring, and it was pretty good.

Re: Mercy

I saw a trailer for it. Brought Nurse Jackie in mind, but looked very interesting. I'm sure they could survive at the same time. Many other hospital series have even if they've looked somewhat alike. I used to keep mixing up Chicago Hope and ER, but both were good. And I was a teenager. Wouldn't make the same mistake now.

Good luck on your show! I'll be sure to see it.

Re: Mercy

Now that ER has ended for good, maybe it's the perfect opportunity to look into a new medical show. You know, apart from Nurse Jackie. smile Maybe Rick could supply us with the occasional trivia along the way.

Re: Mercy

Not sure what I can say yet, but I do want to mention what a pro Michelle Trachtenberg is.  I have always liked her acting, but she makes it a pleasure to work with her.  For most actors it is hard to give the performance they want, and do all the technical things we all need to make it possible to bring that performance to the public.  Hitting all of the marks so they are in focus and in the lights. And for what I do,  speaking in a way that projects for the microphones (even when whispering) and speaking clearly even when emotional.  If they don't do this, we often have to bring them in to replace the dialog(because if you can't understand the dialog you can't follow the story), which can hurt the performance (which we don't want to do).  She has been perfect so far.

Re: Mercy

You know, I've read that about her many times.  As a huge Buffy fan who already liked her before she joined that show, it was great to read how much her colleagues at Mutant Enemy loved her when she came aboard --- even though the audience was resistant at first.  So cool to hear you say it from your perspective too, Rick.  smile

I liked the first review, not too sure about the rest.

And to everyone, I hope you will watch, and I hope you like it.  But remember, I didn't write it, or direct it, so I won't be insulted if you don't like it.  Please feel free to say what you think.

Re: Mercy

Mommy liiike.  No lie, I really enjoyed the first ep.  It's a fun hour of TV with some cool characters played by pretty people delivering snappy dialog very well.  I'll be there next week.  big_smile

Re: Mercy

Seven is set to screen new US medical drama Mercy.

The show, which premieres in the US next week, focuses on three nurses. Veronica Callahan (Taylor Schilling, pictured centre) has returned to Mercy Hospital from a tour in Iraq. Jamie Lee Kirchner plays Sonia (right) and Michelle Trachtenberg (left) plays rookie nurse Chloe.

The three will navigate the daily traumas and personal dramas inside the hospital and out.

Behind the scenes are executive producers/writers are Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights, Boston Public), Gretchen Berg & Aaron Harberts (Pushing Daisies) and director Adam Bernstein (30 Rock, Rescue Me).

Updated: Seven advises Mercy will launch at 9:30pm Monday September 28th following FlashForward premiere.

They have been flooding the promotion of Flash Forward but I have only seen a few ads for Mercy. But its not a bad time slot and so far the buzz seems to be that people are waiting to see if its "just another medical drama" or whether its something they would actually enjoy watching. I will be watching BOTH premieres come Monday night. And only being a few days behind the US is awesome news. They have started doing that for alot of shows now because far too often people are just downloading the episodes from the internet because we were usually up to a whole season behind. "FAST TRACKED" -- Woo Hoo!

Re: Mercy

There's far less focus on the medical than on the drama, so far.  I like that.  It's more like Nurse Jackie than Grey's Anatomy.  And I like that too.

Re: Mercy

so far Margo Martindale is a regular, but I am only one episode ahead of you.  The schedule is fighteningly tight.
We finished tonights episode monday, and we will be finishing every episode 2 days before air.

I'm glad you liked it.  And the tone and balance of medical vs drama is pretty consistant with the next episode.

Re: Mercy

Wow, are most tv shows like that?

I was always under the impression that they were usually a few episodes in front of what was airing on tv. That is very tight.
Cant comment on the actual show yet but I will let you know what I think on Monday smile
