Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Here or at my fanfiction journal?  Either way, I just did both.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

I have one question, though. What's a prompt table? Also, I've read about this Fanfic 100 Challenge, but I never figured out what it actually is. You're supposed to write a 100 stories on one particular subject or set of characters? I'm totally clueless. Anyone wanna help out?

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

A prompt table is a set of prompts that all the challenges I'm in give me, you write one story or chapter of a story for each prompt.   It's usually just a single word or phrase that is supposed to spark something in your brain and make your plot bunnies go nuts.  Most times, you don't need to go strictly by the prompt and you can use artists lisense and write what it means to you instead of the dictonary meaning.

FanFic100, for example, there's 100 prompts.  You claim a pairing, character, group of characters, or a general fandom.  But with ff100, you'd either need to write 100 seperate one-shots (like I'm doing) or a 100 chapter story.  Usually only one person can have a claim on something at a time, so if you wanted to claim something that was already claimed then you'd be waitlisted.  But if you wanted to claim a single character within a pairing/group that hasn't been claimed yet, you can do that.

... I hope that made sense.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Is it the prompt table thing or the fanfic100 thing that's confusing, because I can try to narrow it down and explain it in less words.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

I found that there's a fanfic100 community at LiveJournal and I think I now understand. You either write 100 separate stories (one shots) or a 100 chapter story. You have to pick for yourself (= claim) a TV show/movie that you want to write for and a character or pairing. There is a table with 100 words or phrases (= prompt table) and you're supposed to write one story/chapter for each word. Right?

If you still don't get it, Anne, I can try to explain it in German.

I think I get it now, I just don't get what that prompt table is exactly.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

It's just a table of prompts, words or phrases you get inspiration from and write about.

Here's a link to all the prompt tables I've been writing for, maybe seeing one will clear it up: http://community.livejournal.com/fic_on … ompt+table

I like this one too.  It's an Independence Day gapper, what Joan and Adam said to each other at the end that we didn't get to hear:

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Laura, I read SO MANY of your fics today. And I left comments all over the place, just in case you haven't seen them already.  I have a few more to read.  Probably save them for the slow times at work tomorrow, as much as I'd love to keep reading tonight.  I'm floating on a happy A/J cloud right now.  big_smile

I actually read that one before, on fanfiction.net. I've always really liked it, might have left a review there too. I wish more people would have written stuff like that, back in the day. <sigh>

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

I don't think you did review tongue  I remember at the time I wrote that I was expecting a lot more to pop up over the weekend, but none did... probably because I wrote and posted mine ten minutes after the episode aired.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Yeah, I remember you saying something in your author's note about expecting others to write something similar. Shame no one did. I once wrote a gapper for the episode "Common Thread", but it was slightly longer than your ID gapper. smile Sorry for not reviewing, I usually always leave a review when I like something, mainly because I know how nice it is when people review my stories.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Wait a minute. You're American Idiot??? Sweet Jesus, that name certainly rings a bell. You have a lot of stories up on FFN, and I believe I've read each and every one of them. You're one of those that seemed to have stopped writing eventually after the show was cancelled and that I always wished to return. I'm glad you're still doing the Fanfic100 thing, so we get to read something new all the time. You're stories are certainly an enrichment and a balm for the soul.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Yeah... I was just waiting for one of you guys to figure out my FFN pen name.  I've always meant to go back and finish what I started but I just seemed to lose all inspiration for the stories posted on there, mostly because the early stories I wrote that have unfinished sequels annoy me now.   I guess I just started hating my own writing and when that happens you know something needs to change.

Don't worry about the reviewing thing, I've been doing the same thing with Butterflies.  And, wow... thanks.
