Erm, hi everyone.

Okay, so about a week ago I said I'd check out the boards here, and, well, I figured it was time to follow through on that. I'm a teenage girl from the United States, and I'm a rather recent Chris fan. My best friend got me to watch Joan of Arcadia on DVD last May, and now I'm a total nut for the show. I instantly fell in love with Adam Rove, and then I subsequently started watching for things Chris was in. I think I've seen him act in a few things before, but nothing really pops out at me, so until then I'm a Joan of Arcadia girl. I'm planning on making runs to the local video rental store to pick up some of his movies.

Honestly, I've never really had a real actor crush before, and this is my first (weird, considering I'm 16). Not only do I think he's totally cute ( ^_^ ), but I think he's an amazing actor with the ability to move me to tears. He has the whole package and I've fallen hard. Not trying to get back up, either. =P

I'm not all that great with many things besides fanfiction, so hopefully that will suffice for any contributions made. Speaking of which, I should probably get back to just that (Joan of Arcadia story). So, here I am. Hope I'll be able to make this site a regular stop!

~ Ashley

My life long dream is to somehow get Adam Rove into a puppy-suit. Until then, my imagination will have to tide me over.

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

Welcome, Ashley!  Nice to see you.  A lot of us came to be a Chris fan beginning with JoA.  But no matter how you found him, I think you'll find that you picked the right guy for your first actor crush.  If you wanna get to know us a little better and help us get to know you, why don't you go and answer our Chris quiz in this thread?  Both fun and informative.

How much of the site have you explored?  We have tons of gorgeous pics and some video and audio you won't find anywhere else.

In the Fanboys Tribute thread, you find a bunch of pics of Chris that are at this point, exclusive to our site.  They're not in the gallery, so you'll want to just page through that whole thread.

In fact if you just scroll though any of the threads, you'll see even more pics that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

We have our own epic JOA future fic, Butterflies, going, with a pretty web version of the first 5 chapters here: http://beam.to/joa-butterflies

And the whole 30 chapters or so that we have at this point linked here:
PG Version: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3029235/1/
R version: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3042947/1/

As for going to the video store for Chris movies, here's your list:

Alpha Dog
American Gun
The Girl Next Door
Just Friends
The Tic Code
Freddy Vs Jason
Miracles (Complete Series)
Strong Medicine (Season One)

Am I forgetting anything that's out right now, guys?

I hope you'll make the site a regular stop too!  smile

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

... Wow... I have a lot to do. I wonder if we even have some of those movies/tv shows around here, though.:/ I'll have to look around.

I've been wanting to read Butterflies for quite awhile now, actually, though it seems a bit daunting to start. I'll take a good look at it pretty soon, though, I promise. Which would you recommend- the PG version, or the R version?

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

Depends on your comfort level with a grown-up relationship between Adam & Joan.  They're 22 in our story and reunited.  The R version has some adult sexual situations.  It's not horribly graphic or gratuitous, but it is definitely not for anyone who'd be bothered by a highly-charged physical love relationship between these two characters.

I would suggest you start out with the pretty web version so you can see the cool mastheads TeeJay created for each chapter that we've posted so far.  The first time anything sexual happens is at the end of the 4th chapter.  If you can handle what happens there, you can probably handle the rest.

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

Alright- despite my age ( >.> ), I have read some R-rated sexual scenes, just not that many. I don't like to make a habit of it, but if the story's really good, and there's actual reason (and if it's in-character, of course), then I'll give it a go. I'll read it when I have some time (AKA, once I finish the story I'm working on).

Well, we hope our story's really good.

Here's my favorite review we ever got...

Haha, wow, it really does sound like something. Long reviews are nice, too (actually, that's usually the kind I write >.>). 30 chapters is really something, too. I'm not sure if I could do a story that long (at least with my current procrastination habits).

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

I couldn't have done it alone.  No way.  We just fed off each other and it came kinda naturally.  We get into spells where we don't finish a chapter for months.  But we also have about 7 more chapters in various stages of development right now, one that's over 31 ages long already.  We try not to put any pressure on ourselves.  We just love writing these characters.

The way I usually read fics is I print them out, stuff them in my backpack and read them when I'm stuck somewhere boring.  Just like taking a book with you on the bus.  I got into the habit sitting vigil by my mom's bed in the hospital the last few years of her life.  Back then, it was Buffy fics.  I love fics.  Never was good at writing them, until TeeJay and I fell into this collaboration.  Now, I can't stop.  And I love our sweet, romantic, sexy concoction.  smile

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

Heh, well, I can't really print all that many out because the computer I use doesn't have a printer (we'll get another one day...). Back when I used the one with a printer, I'd have my brother print out what I was reading when he had to get on the computer, and if I really liked it, I'd continue reading it. Several stories, however, I loved and printed out chapter after chapter... There are literally hundreds of pages all stacked by my bed- I have no idea what I'm going to do with some of them, because they're hard to carry around, but the stories are awesome.

I have several fandoms that I just love writing for, and that I can write the characters nearly perfectly for. Joan of Arcadia's one where I love writing it, but since this is only my second fic (and my first in writing many of the characters), I have a really hard time telling if I'm doing an okay job with them. I second-guess my work way too much, but I really do have a lot of fun writing it. I don't do collaborations much, except with my best friend, but all of those are totally insane humor fics that are written at ungodly hours of the morning.

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

In my eyes you're definitely doing a good job with them. I haven't felt like anyone was out of character. Adam is a heck of a lot of fun to write for, isn't he? As you know, I sometimes like to McPunish him... wink

I never really collaborated on anything, until I found Deb. It's been a hell of a ride. I have a couple of my favorite stories printed out, but not a lot of them. I usually read fanfic on the computer, but I do save those that I really like to my hard drive. That reminds me, I still need to do that with yours. I try to leave a review for every story I like. Because as a writer, I know how nice and uplifting it is when you receive positive feedback. Your PM in reply to my review really cracked me up.

As to you being intimidated by Butterflies... I know, it just seems so long, doesn't it? Why don't you start with the graphically enhanced version? We've only got five chapters up so far. If you like it enough to want to continue, you can always switch over to FFN. Or just wait until we post the next graphically enhanced chapter. No one's forcing you to read it all in one go. Deb said the necessary things about whether you wanna go PG or R. Up to you whether you'd like the sexual intimacy to stay in your own imagination or if you'd rather see it spelled out in loving detail. It is very graphic, but it's not icky or awkward. I used to shy away from very graphic stuff, but I love what we're doing with this story, although the R-rated stuff is almost all Deb's work. Just rest assured that if you decide to go with the PG version, you're not missing out on anything story-wise.

Re: Erm, hi everyone.

I think I'll end up going with the graphic. There was a time when I was younger that I would shy away from reading it, and I would skip over it if it was in a story, but now I've learned that skipping over something that big sort of detracts from the story (plus, I'm a bit of a sucker for A/J, so ...).

I'm totally honored that you want to save my story to your hard-drive. Like, so honored that I can't even move. My PM response was sort of exactly how I reacted to seeing your review as well. It's like, I stared at it for a moment, and then fully registered everything. Oh, man, I went insane. I seriously love getting reviews as well, especially I haven't written for the fandom much.
