Re: Randomness

Yeah, we always started on Monday too. But the last day of school was always a Wednesday. I can't believe that it's six years now that I left schpol. I guess I am getting old. LOL

Re: Randomness

I think the schools back in Arizona started about a week and a half ago, but I know Arizona State started Monday as well. I got an extra long summer this year with the move, don't have to start until the 6th of September. I hate it when summer ends sad

Re: Randomness

I love it when summer ends because I live in Atlanta and it was freakin' 101 degrees today!  I know you're used to  heat from living in AZ, Brenna.  But here, we also have horrific 90+% humidity.  And Code Red smog alerts almost every day.  Anyone who thinks Global Warming is bunk should come stay with me for a week or two.  I'll show you a movie called The Fire Next Time from 1993, and a documentary called After The Warming from 1989, and you'll go home a believer.  This stuff is for real, y'all.

Re: Randomness

Oh jeez, yeah. Arizona gets very hot, but I'd pick 120 degree temperatures and little humidity over high temperatures lots of humidity any day. Humidity, quite honestly, turns me into a raging lunatic. I start snapping at people, I'm hard to get along with, etc. Pretty out of character for me, so I know the weather has something to do with it, lol. I had to deal with a bit of it this summer in Massachusetts as well. It's not fun.

Re: Randomness

I start my school work on September 10th. I'm homeschooled, so mom usually starts me after Labor Day. My last year! I just had to order elective classes. I picked French, Latin, Spelling and Art. I'm actually excited.

Re: Randomness

How long have you been homeschooled?  Do you like it?  My cousin and his wife homeschool their three boys.  They're 14, 10 and 8.

Re: Randomness

Since the end of 7th grade. My parents had it with the teachers and the school and when Spring Break came, my mom pulled me out, and after Spring Break I was being homeschooled. I love it. Teachers wer awful at school, and the school wasn't following my IEP, and I was just unhappy. Since I've been homeschooled, my grades have gone back to B's and A's. It's just a lot better and simpler. My mom writes out all the work in a notebook and I follow it. When I have an Exam, we send it to the school where we order my books, they grade it, send it back, and mom keeps it for records and stuff. Dad kinda just stays out of it. lol He tries to help, but he just gets nowhere. Poor guy.
So, your cousins kids, have they ever gone to Public School or were they always homeschooled?

Re: Randomness

The oldest went to public school at first, but they've started him at home in his 3rd year, I think.  The other two have always been homeschooled.  My cousin's in law enforcement and he works tasks forces and even goes undercover some, so he's home in the daytime a lot.

Re: Randomness

Wow, what a pain in the butt!  Reminds me of the time a gas station attendent who was winderizing my car didn't screw the radiator cap back on right and all my antifreeze leaked out and my car shut down on the expressway.  In a horrible storm.  I could've been killed.

Re: Randomness

I just came home from getting my books for college.  There's four and put together they're heavier than the nine I had last year in high school.  How come no one told me they're so darn heavy?

I hope everything will pass by you without too much more damage, Illinois.

Re: Randomness

Hope you get through the storm unscathed, Illinois.  And Laura, hope you never have to carry all those books at once!  Though I guess these days, you'd just get a bag on wheels or something.  Why didn't they have those in my day?

Re: Randomness

No, I don't have to carry them all at once.  My classes are pretty well spread out, I only have two days a week with two classes.  So I only need to carry the two biggest ones together roll, but I'll most likely keep the one I don't need in my car during my other class then go get it during the break.   But since the break between the classes is like two hours, I could probably go back home and exchange them.

I actually had a wheely bag once and I hated it, I can probably just get away with using my messenger bag most of the time.  For my English class I can just stuff the book in my purse... I was mad when I got it, the class I care most about has the smallest book.

Re: Randomness

We had a storm yesterday, even the TV channels went out of work, so I couldn't catch yesterday's Numb3rs Episode, that sucked! But well, I knew it already.

I like Numb3rs? Of course I like Numb3rs! David Krumholtz is, like, my backup guy. LOL I like the show so much, I even watch it in English, even though I don't really understand the math stuff Charlie talks about. But since I don't get it in German either, it's not that bad. LOL

The internet is annoying and depressing me lately- too many heartless people or too many problems. I think I need to get away from it for a few days.
