Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

Alright, so here's another reason I joined here: to get my new fic known. Yeah, more than a little selfish.:embarrassed: Still, I wanted to get it into a community where there would be more fans of what I'm writing for, and I was hesitant to put it on the Joanofarcadia dot com forums because they have a strict PG tag on anything put up. I'm pretty sure this passes into the PG-13 rang, at least in the first chapter.

I know TJ's read the first chapter (thanks for recommending I come here!), but I didn't know if other fans would see it because fanfiction dot net isn't as popular as it used to be. Sure, still popular, but not as much as it used to be. Plus, I don't know if there's some other place Joan of Arcadia fans go.

But I'm rambling now, and the author's notes in my story have enough ramblings in them. Basically, this is a Joan of Arcadia story that goes AU from the end of "Common Thread". The summary (as on fanfiction dot net) is as follows: Everyone has free will. What if Ryan Hunter had exhibited his and not gone hiking that fateful day? Alternate ending to Common Thread. Four part story, updated weekly. Details inside.

Obviously, it's a very heavy-Adam focused story. Why else would I be putting it up here? And now, here's the link, because I'm seriously talking too much. @.@

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

Hi Ashley,

So glad you joined us! I've already been talking about your story in the other thread, as you know by now. I like to come over here and post links to JoA fics that I think are worth linking. I'd like to add your story to the JoA fanfic section on the website, if I may. Please let me know if that's okay with you.

If you were looking for a place where people like to discuss the show, then I think you're in the right place. A lot of us are avid JoA fans. Me personally, I love the show to bits, even if it only got two seasons. You might know that Deb and I both write a lot for JoA, Anne has written some fics too. And Laura (magicalturkey here--American Idiot on FFN) is very active in the realm of JoA fan fiction as well. I think you're in good company. smile

I used to hang out on the joanofarcadia.net message board a lot, and they were a fantastic group. Unfortunately, the site closed a while ago, and fans have been scattered all over the place. I've never felt at home on joanofarcadia.com. There's still an active JoA board on fanforum.com, and I post there sometimes, but somehow recently they seem to be more interested in playing hangman or word association games than discuss anything that I'm interested in. It also seems like the majority of active fans of the show are Grace/Luke shippers. While I like both Luke and Grace, that pairing just never struck a chord for me. I know Deb feels the same way. That's why Grace and Luke aren't together in our story, Butterflies. (However, there is one very interesting meeting of the two of them in chapter "Bless This House".)

I just read chapter 2 of your story (sent you a FFN review too). Love it! Keep the great work up.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

Heh, yeah, I looked and saw that you put up a link just after I put this up. That was a totally amazing feeling. Yeah, I was needing a place to discuss Joan of Arcadia. I have my best friend and my brother to talk to, but my brother's off at college now, so now I only have one person (not that she's not a totally awesome person to talk to and all). It's great to see such a wide variety of theories and opinions.

I love the Luke and Grace relationship, but Adam and Joan's always caught my eye. I don't know why, either. I guess that means it's perfect for me here. =P

And I promptly responded to said review. Keep on sending them!

Mrs. Lischak! I miss her! She was such a crazy woman! LOL
I am going to read that later, when I have more time, I am working on something right now.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

... Argh, I knew I spelled Ms. Lischak's name wrong. I'll go back and correct it soon. I'll also check FFN for the comment and reply to you there, Deb.

EDIT: Ah, never mind- seems I have to respond to your comment here- no problem with that, though. I'm really glad you're enjoying it so far, especially since I hear you're a bit picky with portrayals of Adam (admittingly, I'm the same way in many other fandoms). I won't comment much more since you have to read the second chapter, but I say again: take your time. I'll have the third part up next Monday.

I really should be spending my entire night writing it, considering I have school tomorrow and will probably only have the weekend to finish the story, but ... well, Just Friends is coming on television later tonight and I seriously can't resist, especially considering I spent almost all my money on books today. big_smile Still, I can say with confidence that this is one deadline that I'm going to keep. ... For once.

OK, Ashley, when does chapter three go up.  I finished chapter two at lunch day and I'm itching for more!

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

Ahhh! I'm running late, I'm running late, I'm running late! *rushes off to post new chapter* It's coming! It should be up in about a half-hour maximum!

EDIT: *calm breath* Okay. It's up now, but it may take awhile to actually register on fanfiction. However, if you want to read/print it out, then go to the Just In section and then Joan of Arcadia. It shows up there, I checked.

Sorry for the delay *bows*.

I read it and I was gonna leave you a review, but I wasn't online when I read it. I'll post something on FFN for you later, okay. But I can tell you already that I loved it.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

TeeJay and I are sharing one Internet connection right now so I wasn't able to read it today.  I'm printing it out though so that if she's hogging my connection or something I'll be able to get to it.  LOL!  J/K, TeeJay.  I know I was using it the most with the MP3 thing.  Anyway, I was so anxious for the next one, but we were very busy today.  sad

I will read it as soon as I can.  Will let you know when I'm done.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

I said I will read it soon, but I just don't have the time yet. Reading English fanfiction is still difficult for me sometimes, since I still need a dictionary around. But I will read it and I will try to comment too.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

Ahhhh! WHY DO I KEEP DOING THIS?! *thunk* The next chapter is coming before the end of the day (at least where I live), and the only reason I'm stopping for the moment is to assure you guys of that. I'm finishing the last scene, and I feel horrible for putting it off (procrastinating all weekend...). @.@ It'll be here within the hour.

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

*lying on the ground* Anyone who wants it can read it. I would've put that up last night, but I just about fell over when it was finally uploaded. This is why I should never do deadlines- they always end up getting twisted and I kill myself trying to get them to work. On the bright side, I already have a review telling me I did very well (I loved the way the scenes came out, personally), so maybe it was worth the wait?

Re: Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic)

*HATES double posting, but...* Reversing the Stitches is complete with its epilogue up. I never told anyone I was making one, so I thought I'd just drop that in. I also have a nice little, uh, challenge, I could say? It's at the very end, basically asking for the anime movie I referenced in an extra sub-name for this mini-act. I plan to stick to my promise that anyone who gets it right will receive a drabble. @.@ I've probably dug myself in deep here.

Oh, and I'll just say here to Deb (since I can't respond any other way) that I'm glad and surprised that you thought my story was unpredictable. Unless those drabbles count, I'm not sure you'll be seeing anything continuously for awhile *glances at several projects*, but I hope to write another story in the future. Right now I just need to get down from my high of finally completing something.
