Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Shame on me, I didn't read it yet. I planned to read it during the weekend, but yesterday my parents took me to visit some relatives in Heidelberg and today was another big family/friends event, so I didn't have a minute to get into reading. sad I'll try to read it tomorrow after work, I promise! (And I'll also try to finally finish my GND synopsis.)

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Just had a wild hair idea for the wedding chapter:  What if Grace asked Joan for a dance at the reception and they had really serious talk during which Grace admonished Joan to take good care of her best friend, and maybe admits to a tiny crush on Joan for like five seconds when they very first met.  What do you guys think?

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Hah!  I love it!   And, obviously Grace had a crush on Joan.

Wait a minute... slow dance or "act like you're on fire" dance?

Slow dance.  Glad it's not too wild an idea.

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Well, a dance with the best man is customary... it's also customary for the best man to kiss the bride, but I'm guessing that won't happen. wink

Not sure if I would like that. Nothing against the idea, but since I've seen the show I just don't see how that could have happened.
I can imagine Joan dancing with the best man though. Who is going to be Adam's best man? Brody (or what was his name, I don't remember right now)? How about Adam dancing with Grace? big_smile

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Grace is Adam's best man (right?).   I'm sure she can dance with Brody or Henry though... but Henry might be a bit grabby with her...

Am I the only one here who saw a thing between Grace and Joan early on?  I guess so...

Oh, I didn't think of that. But it's okay too, of course. smile
No, don't let her dance with Henry! I am already picturing her and Brody. I somehow have a very clear picture of him in my mind.

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Grace is Adam's Best Man.  Like Laura said, it's traditional for the Best Man to dance with the Bride.  Going back to the early eps of the show, when Grace was still ambiguous about her sexuality, I had the vibe of a crush right off the bat.  Since Butterflies has explored that part of Grace and she's with a woman now, I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with Grace dancing with Joan and admitting a wee crush, like I said, for "about five seconds, until I realized you were completely nuts."  I mean, I can hear Grace saying those words.

Make sense now?

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

I didn't say anything against your idea, I just said that I didn't see that happen in the show. But that's just me. You can write it if you want and I'll read it and who knows, maybe I'll like it afterwards. That happened with the Alpha Dog thing actually. You remember? I didn't like that either in the beginning, but now it makes me grin when I am reading it. That means you have done a good job with that. You can do that again!

I can too.  I actually think Grace was attracted to Joan, at least outwardly, even when she was dating Luke.  Maybe I just read too much into her character, but I think she was bi the entire time and CBS was just too scared to address it outside of the popular girls making fun of her early on.

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

I'm with you on that one Laura, but people tell me I'm crazy.  BTW, need to send you a new doc.  I added a bit to it and shuffled what we have around to get it in some kind of order.  I'll send it in a minute.

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

That would speak for the uniqueness of the show. I mean, I don't mind Grace being bi in Butterflies. I just thought in the show she wasn't, but most of the people thought she would be and she didn't bother to correct them. Which I found totally cool.

Ok, I'm home and read it... Joan's bridesmainds, you forgot to include Lily, so we only need one more.  Who's gonna be her maid of honor?

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

See, that's the thing.  Is she close enough to Lily to ask her to be in the wedding party?  I think either Lydia or Karen would have to be maid of honor.  I'm just stuck because we haven't given her many friends.

Our stupid work email is down again, so if you work on it, don't send it back here.  Send it to me at my public address: sisterdebmac@yahoo.com

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Yeah, I think Lily and Joan are close enough for her to be a bridesmaid.  Plus, I think her being Kevin's girlfriend gives a little leeway.  Adam doesn't have any female relatives, does he?   Cause she could be our missing girl.

Oh, and I think it would be cute if Karen was the maid of honor, because Grace is the best man... then they can walk each other down the aisle.

Re: Joan of Arcadia - Butterflies

Then, let's do it.  We could use Jamie's wife Susan as the missing chick.  Would that work?

Yeah, I think that would work.   It could be Grace and Karen, Brody and Lydia, Henry and Lily (heh), and Jamie and Susan.
