I think I just found the movie I will be obsessed with this year:
The Brave One
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0476964/
Why do I think this? Saw a trailer and some clips today and it looks really intense. I almost always love the movies Jodie Foster chooses to be in. Twice, I have become completely obsessed with one: The Silence Of The Lambs and Contact. If the material is equal to the work she always does, this one will likely be another great one. Plus, look at the rest of that cast:
Naveen Andrews of Lost
Mary Steenburgen of JoA (plus I just love her!)
Nicky Katt of Boston Public
& the magnificent Terrence Howard (so brilliant in Crash and Hustle & Flow)
And it's directed by the great Neil Jordan of Interview With The Vampire and The Crying Game.
Did I mention Jodie looks marvelous in the movie? She's sporting a super-cute shortish haircut.
I'm already geeked up. Can't wait!

Sounds like a great cast. I may watch the movie too when it (ever) comes to Germany.

German release date September 27, 2007. Just two weeks after the US release, how cool is that? Seems to be a trend to release movies fast over here now, but I'm not complaining. I don't miss the days where it took 6 to 12 months for movies to come here. And I'm sure it has to do with internet piracy and movies being available online as soon as or even before they're in the theaters.
Oh, and if this one is showing without dubbing (for which there is a good chance), you'll bet I'll watch it as soon as I can.

That's very cool! And a movie that combines 3 of my favorite TV shows can't be that bad.

Deb, if you want to comment on the movie after seeing it, can you put a spoiler warning with it if there's gonna be spoilers, please? Because I'm most definitely going to watch this one myself.

All I will say here is DON'T read ANYTHING about it. It's not really what you might think it is. It has a great surprise in it that made my audience cheer. Loud. And they applauded when the credits rolled. To say that it's a wildly satisfying twist would be an understatement. Do be prepared for the fact that it's very internal. Very intensely emotional. Definitely NOT an action movie.
I'd give it :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

I think I've seen enough action movies last year. Something internal would suit me just fine. Can't wait!

Let me see if I can catch it too. I was kinda happy since my mom wanted to see Knocked Up in the theaters but we never went there. And I miss going to the theaters.

Maybe Knocked Up is still on. You should check, it's a really cute movie. Well worth seeing, Seth and Katherine were both great in it.

I know. I just think I can't invest the money, since I have to pay for bus tickets one month more. I mean, okay, the agency is paying me back for that but I also had to buy my ticket to Dortmund in October, where we'll have another meeting of our Children Network Group (That thing that got me to Berlin in July) and I won't get the money back until after that. But I really want to see Knocked Up too, everybody who has seen it has told me that it's a wonderful movie and I don't want to miss Katherine Heigl in the theaters.

The Brave One might even be called McPunisher stuff. Especially the first two thirds.

TeeJay, I posted this very cool review I found online of The Brave One in my MySpace blog. It's totally non-spoilery. It just talks about the ideas and the quality. Nothing of the plot or actual events of the story is revealed and no mention is made of any twist. I think I'm gonna go see it again this weekend. I can't stop reading about it. Once you've seen it, I'm sure I'll be able to write about it.

I recently saw an add for that movie here, it looks really interesting, maybe if I have the chance to check it out I will.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
They're not showing it in English, neither in Düsseldorf nor in Cologne. This SUCKS ASS! I've been waiting for this movie like no other (non-Chris movie)! :crying:
It doesn't come out on DVD until next year, I guess. Great, my week was just ruined. My only chance might be to catch it in Basel (Switzerland), where I will be going the week after next. I know they always show movies subtitled there. I gotta check if it also starts in Switzerland this week and then pray that they still show it in two weeks' time.
Well, I guess there's always BitTorrent....... And I don't even feel guilty since I would have paid money to see it in the theater. But not if it's dubbed into German.

I have to see if I can spent some money my parents left me for the movie. There are so many movies I wanna see, I have to select.
And I will watch the German version. I can still rent the DVD for the English one.

I'm excited now. A very small theater in Bochum will show the movie for a week next week in OV! Not sure if I can really make it since they only show it at 9:30 PM and it's an hour's drive to Bochum and I've already got things planned that weekend, but I'll be damned if I don't at least try.

They're releasing it on DVD in Germany on Feb 1. But I'm not sure I wanna buy it right away. I rarely spend more than 15 EUR on a DVD, especially not when I haven't seen the movie yet and am not sure if I'm gonna like it enough to want to own the DVD. But I'd sure love to watch it some time. I might buy it when the prices go down.

This movie pissed me off so bad in the beginning I cried like a baby! This movie is so powerful and Jodie Fosters performance, no one could ever do this better than her, I loved her in this.

Yeah, me too. You mean the mugging pissed you off in it's senselessness and brutality, right? God, I totally know what you mean. It was just about unendurable, that scene.
