Stephanie Daley

...or the movie premiere Chris and Di went to instead of The Invisible.

What a depressing movie.  But Amber was just flat-out incredible.  I mean, we all know that she can do anything.  We've seen her do it.  Still, she knocked me sideways here.  You just have to see it for yourself.  Words fail me.  I'm gonna watch the special features now.  Maybe I'll be able to write about it later.

Man, I can't imagine that Chris didn't go give her a big hug and tell her how amazing she was that night.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Agreed, the movie was really depressing in a quiet way, not at all over the top like it could've been. And Amber was just astounding. I shouldn't have been surprised after watching her as Joan for two seasons, but man...

I also had my words failing me afterwards. And it seems they're still kind of failing me, lol.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Brenna, did you watch the deleted scenes?  The one called "I found Steph in the back yard" was soooooo creepy.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Of course you can get a copy. You just need to tell me how I can pay if I buy from that website. I have no clue about that, sorry.

Ooooh, I wish I could buy it right now! But I bought the first Season of Life On Mars last week, I just couldn't resist, it was only 21€ from a british seller on amazon.de. I just had to buy it. big_smile

Re: Stephanie Daley

I watched all the special features.  And then Amber invaded all my dreams last night in one way or another.  It was pretty entertaining.  I can't stop thinking about her.  I have to take the movie back tomorrow.  I definitely recommend that anyone who sees it watch everything.  The commentary was great!

Anybody ever read Amber's MySpace blog?  She's out there.  You gotta love her:

Re: Stephanie Daley

Heh... I'm skimming through all her blogs, there's a bunch of pictures.  One has a magazine clipping and it says at the top (to prepare for her role) "I killed a baby for Stephanie Daley.  But I don't know if you should put that on the record, because if they find the fetus it could be bad."   LOVE THAT!  I couldn't make it through the rest of the article because it's pretty long and tiny text... but I did read that Amber screamed at her father about grilled cheese and chicken at one point.  And that she has an alternative OCD that forces her to dispise Harry Potter.  And she says cool must be spelled "kewl".... ok, maybe I could read it.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Good old Kenneth Turan (LA Times):

That we eventually witness Stephanie's birth scene is something that needs to be revealed, because it is portrayed with such wrenching force that the director told the New York Times that four people have fainted at those moments at festival screenings. To see Tamblyn's work here, to see her character almost simultaneously embody pain, terror, anguish, embarrassment, regret and just about any emotion you can think of, is to watch the kind of acting the medium exists to provide.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Michael Wilmington (Chicago Tribune):

Amber Tamblyn--the daughter of "West Side Story's" Russ Tamblyn--gives an astonishing performance for a young actress, putting herself and us though emotions so severe, especially in that traumatizing childbirth scene, that it's hard to take. "Stephanie Daley" isn't an entirely successful film; Brougher still has her pretentious moments. But you can feel what these women are going through, even in the most extreme, anguishing moments.

Re: Stephanie Daley

I'm not too sure about seeing this movie anymore... I don't like seeing my favorite actors in some kind of anguish.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Well, you like it when Chris shreds you with his ability to act anguish, right?  Same thing here.  I cannot shake this movie.  I've tried.  I just can't.  Can't get Amber out of my head.  As much as I loved her before, I am absolutely blown away now.  When you watch it, just make sure you do the commentary track afterward.  It helps a lot.  I'm not sure where my head would be if I hadn't listened to them talk about all this stuff.

Re: Stephanie Daley

Hope it's OK to post this.  I asked Di about why no one got a pic of Chris and Amber at the Stephanie Daley premiere.  I was sure he talked to her.  Even more sure after I saw the movie that there was no way he didn't go congratulate her on that performance.

Di said:

As for Stephanie Daley, there weren't any photos taken, but we all did get to hang out. I really like her, she's very smart and cool and we were instant friends. Chris, obviously, only has the best things to say about her.
