In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Wow!  Dan Fogler's gonna play Alfred Hitchcock in a movie called Number 13.  It has an amazing cast.  Looks wicked awesome...

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Wow, that seems indeed interesting and he fact that Ben Kingsley is part of that too should be proof that it's going to be a great movie. Will put that on my list.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Ya'll HAVE to check out Reaper on the CW if you didn't last night.  It was hilarious.  Ray Wise, who plays Chris's dad in Infestation plays The Devil on this show and he cracks wise and just has a real twinkle about him.  You can tell he's having a blast.  And if you've seen any of Kyle Rankin's short films, Reaper has a very similar sensibility.  Wildly comical and over the top with the FX.  So if you like those shorts, you'll probably like this show.

It also features Tyler Labine, one of my favorite young character actors (he played Dave in Invasion).  He happens to be the brother of Kyle Labine, who co-starred with Chris in Freddy Vs Jason.

This looks like it could be a really fun show, if it manages to stick around.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I Tivo'd it because I figured it'd be a show I could get into. Plus, the first episode was directed by Kevin Smith, so that gave me enough of an incentive to try it out.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I also wanted to say that I saw Amber Tamblyn's movie Stephanie Daley the other day. It was really good, very well-acted, especially on Amber's part. The story moves pretty slowly, but it's definitely touching and devastating at the same time.

Well then I'm going to Blockbuster this weekend.  Damn shame it never made it to a theatre near me.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I wanna buy this DVD SO BAD, but it's 27€ on amazon.de and that's something like 30$ and I am not going to spend so much money on a DVD. Not even for Amber, sorry. Unless the company tells me next week that they're going to hire me. Then I'll make myself a "little" present. wink

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I just read that Michael Welch will be shooting a guest spot on CSI:Miami soon. That's cool. It's the only CSI: show I don't watch, but I'll make an exception. I've seen a handful of episodes when there were important guest stars (Amber T., for instance) and when they were doing crossovers with the other CSI: shows. It's not that I hate the show, it just didn't draw me in enough to stay with it.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

'Cavemen' Clubbed by Critics

Turning Geico's provocative cavemen commercials into a TV series has apparently proved to be almost as difficult as inventing the wheel. Despite massive hype, ABC's series premiere of Cavemen drew just 8.9 million viewers Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. By contrast, CBS's long-running NCIS was the top-ranked show in the hour with 16.3 million. The new show, which was not previewed for critics, also took a drubbing from them today (Thursday). Brian Steinberg in Advertising Age suggested that "the network should've just run Geico commercials." He called the initial episode "an ill-conceived, humorless mess." Mary McNamara in today's Los Angeles Times remarked, "If you're going to force us to look at guys made up to look like cavemen, then let them be cavemen, for goodness' sake." She added, "If they are, as the show's intro says, 'just like us, ' then what's the point? Don't bother me with cavemen; they're just big, hairy and boring. I'd rather see a show about insurance salesmen." Meanwhile, the critically well-received Pushing Daisies premiered Wednesday with a solid 8.3 rating and a 14 share for ABC, beating NBC's hit game show Deal or No Deal, which drew a 7.1/12.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Michael Welch's mom PM'ed me on IMDb today. I'm not kidding. Apparently they're trying to bring some of Michael's movies to the German film festivals. Wouldn't that be great?

So now we're not only talking to Chris's and Dan Fogler's mom, we're also talking to Michael's mom. Yay for parents who know how to go online! smile

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Well, she was talking about film festivals, the Berlin one specifically. So we'd have to go to Berlin. But, hey, why not? smile I've been once, and then I only had one afternoon. I wouldn't mind seeing some more of the city.

I'll say hello from you if she writes back.

Hey, the dude that played Price on JOA is in Pushing Daisies this week.  Is this a Sony show?  Does Barbara Hall have something to do with it?

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Veronica Mars used to be a JoA stomping ground.   The woman who played Rebecca was on a a while, then left for JoA.  Little Girl God was in an episode.  Price was a semi-regular in the third season.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Can't find any link to BH or anyone else in the production.  And despite Chi McBride's presence (also a Chris co-star from Boston Public), it's not a Sony show.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Is anyone else interested in the upcoming release of Southland Tales which stars Alpha Dog co-star Justin Timberlake?

It's directed by Richard Kelly who directed Donnie Darko. It also stars The Rock, Seann William Scott, Will Sasso, Kevin Smith and others.

I've seen the trailer and I like the sci-fi aspect of it, plus it looks like a strange film to say the least.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I've been waiting for Southland Tales forever.  I had no idea Justin Timberlake was going to be in it... now I don't want to see it anymore.   I haven't seen Alpha Dog (because of him) so I can't really judge his acting talent, but I just really hate him.

I'm no Timberlake fan, but you should really give him the benefit of the doubt as an actor. He was great in Alpha Dog, and I don't like the guy all that much either. Alpha Dog was a wonderful movie, in the sense that it really moves you and makes you think. If you're only not watching it for Justin, then you're really missing out on a good movie. I can honestly say that so far it is the best movie I've seen in 2007, and I haven't watched few.
