Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Still scanning the IMDb boards. And people don't seem to have a very high opinion of this one:

i was an extra in this movie and the movie was not very organized. i doubt it will even hit the festivals. maybe only dvd........

Or this:

It's hard for a movie to be organized when it's got a 23 year old film director who has no idea what she's doing and has rich friends to help finance the movie. it also doesn't help when said 23 year old director is spending all the film budget partying the nights away and getting wasted with one of the actors all the time too.

Or this:

me personally. if i was not an extra i wouldnt buy the movie because not a fan of highschool movies but being that i was im going to buy it just to see how organized they made it... every shot during the movie they were coming up with new things and the director was stone half the time

Or this:

the movie is about the last day of highschool . sex drugs parties....... thats all

Not sure if there's merit to any of these claims, so let's see what this movie will turn out to be like.

Someone else said this:

actually it's comin out September'07 but it's only gonna play at film festivals first.

EDIT: In February 2008 the movie was renamed from The Beautiful Ordinary to Remember The Daze. Just in case you're wondering...

Nope, doesn't sound too convincing. But these are IMDb people. I tend to be very careful about IMDb information on the boards, but it does look like this movie might not be quite the star on the horizon. Shame, I would have liked to see Chris and Sean and Michael together in something good instead of something sub-average. But who knows, maybe this one'll turn out better than expected.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

While we're on a role to contact directors of Chris's movies, why not try Jessica Manafort, writer and director of this one?

What can we write to her?

Just FYI: She's 24 years old. Not that it's important.

I have no idea.  Do you still have the first email we sent to Gary Lundgren?  We can use that as a guideline.  Wish we knew about the movie and this woman.  One thing we can do is ask for a press kit for the site whenever they become availabale.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

I think it's a great idea to contact the writer/director.  If she's a first-timer, I'm sure she'd love to know there's some fannish support out there.  Especially if it's counter-point to the trash the IMDB idiots are writing, she might really appreciate the fact that people want to give her, and the movie, a chance to prove what they can do, as opposed to the "Let's see how badly screwed up this is going to be" mentality.  Idiots.  In fact, she might be more willing than some established directors to give you info that can help promote the movie in a positive light.

I try not to pay attention to the people who start trashing movies before they're even out.  There are people out there who just love to stir up trouble, and will look for any negative rumor or passing comment and pounce on it.  They'll blow it all out of proportion, in an effort to get some attention.  Have you noticed how easy it is for an opinion to become a rumor?  "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if XYZ were going on," when it gets passed around, becomes, "I heard XYZ was going on," then becomes, "XYZ was going on," so it sounds like a fact.  It makes the person making the final assertion sound like an insider who really knows what's happening, when the reality is they're just inflating a rumor to make themselves sound important.  Can I say it again, please?  Idiots.  'Cause that's the nicest thing I can think of to call them.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Yep, that sounds like the IMDb boards, all right.  I know I should stay out of there.  It's just that some of it is so outrageous, it needs someone to speak for sanity and truth.

But frankly, I don't find any condemnation of movies as offensive as people saying they want to beat up Chris for no good reason.  Or a bunch of women saying they wanted to beat up Kristen Cavalleri because she supposedly made a crack about lesbians at ASC.  Or people calling Margo an ugly bitch.  That stuff is just sickening.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

We've written to Gary Lundgren and received nothing but nice words and support. We've spoken to Kyle, who loved the feedback and gave us an interview all too readily. I've e-mailed this cinematographer guy involved in Graduation, and even he wrote back although he didn't have any info. So why not have a go at this?

Deb, I'll e-mail you a proposal for a text in a minute, going from what we sent to Gary (if I can find it on Bosco). I'm quite sure that the worst that'll happen is that we won't get an answer, but that what Shrams said might just happen. Why should she not be happy about the fact that there's people out there who have a genuine interest and are willing to do some grassroots promotion?

Just this afternoon, Anne said to me: Do you remember when we first talked about contacting Chris's agency? And now look how far we've come. We have spoken to Chris, we have spoken to Kyle. We have been e-mailing with Gary Lundgren and we have been in contact with Nick Cassavetes. I think we're doing pretty well, in the grand scale of things.

I believe that with a little ambition and a lot of luck, you can accomplish a lot. We're certainly trying, and we've been succeeding on multiple levels. Let's keep that going.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

OK, I haven't been able to verify this, but there's a rumor on IMDb that the movie is going to be screened at Sundance, in the non-competitive section of the Festival.  Cool!  Now, if only they would post the complete film list somewhere...

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Yeah, I really hope it's true.  Maybe Chris will go and we'll get some new pics.  Although the end of the fest conflicts with the FX Show in Orlando.  Maybe TBO will be shown earlier in the week and he'll be able to do both things.  Wow, busy week for Chris, huh?  The Invisble also opens that week.

Three events in one week, that means it has to be the official "Chris Week 2007". LOL

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

So let it be written, so let it be done.  January 18-28 is now, officially, Chris Week 2007.  Of course we may have to add Chris Week 2007, Part II for the week of April 20 when Fanboys arrives in theatres and TeeJay arrives once again in America.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Actually, I don't think TBO is gonna be screening at Sundance 2007. I checked the website, they have a movie listing up now. TBO is not mentioned anywhere. Although the listing could only be for films that are competing and not those that will be screened. I couldn't find info on that. Their website sucks. It makes my Firefox crash every time, so I got sick of it and left before I could snoop around any longer.

If anyone hears anything different, please let us know.

Well, I would certainly agree with that.  Especially since I've learned to accept that he's probably gonna be fuzzy for a while.  Till he gets bored with it anyway.  LOL!
