I know the problem about missing DVDs too ... I am still missing my Elizabethtown DVD! I still think one of my brothers took it but they keep insisting that neither of them has it. That sucks. I want my DVD back. Although there is a small, small chance that it might be hidden somewhere in my stuff here ... If I only had the time to clean up my room soon. LOL
Well, I've taken some free days from work next week, so I am going to do that then.

I actually like Luke & Grace more than Adam & Joan. Don't kill me...lol. It's funny cos I started out liking Adam/Joan more in s1, but switched to liking G/L more in s2. I also liked Adam more in s1, but still love him in season 2.

hmm I always paid more attention to Joan and Adam

Yeah, I was always more into Adam/Joan... Grace and Luke never really clicked for me. I liked them as a couple, but I couldn't really see them going long term like I could with Adam and Joan.

ahh same here.

Yeah, it was like they're relationship was just all about making out. The only time they really talked was about Grace's mother, but when she didn't want to talk about her anymore what happened? They made out again.
I think I would have liked them better if I saw a connection between them other than a purely physical attraction. Don't get me wrong, they did have a connection, it just wasn't as strong as Adam and Joan's.

Joan and Adam were just meant to be. They seemed more serious than Grace and Luke, I think Grace and Luke just kind of had this high school romance thing going on. Still loved them though

I did love Grace and Luke, they were a fun couple... yeah, basically everything you just said

I thought it was cool though, because when I first watched the show I would have never though about Grace and Luke being together...

I didn't think the show would put Grace with a guy, I think they chickened out of the lesbian/bisexual story line and put her with Luke. It seems like a bunch of shows do the brother with his sister's best friend for some reason, I don't know why though it's so surreal, at least in my mind. I guess because Joan and Luke were so close in age and hung out with basically the same people it was bound to happen. But the whole best friend/brother thing is so overused and weird in TV shows.
I'm such a hypocrite, because I dated my best friend's brother for a very brief time in high school. But I'm living proof that it's mad awkward and doesn't work.

It's interesting how people can perceive the two relationships in completely opposite ways. But if I were to classify one relationship as deeply connected and one as high school romance, I would put Grace & Luke for the former and Adam/Joan for the latter.
Like I said before, s1 and s2 were very different for me, the couple priority switched. I always liked both but, from the scene at the end of silence is when Grace & Luke really clicked for me, whereas with Adam and Joan, although Do The Math had a very cool ending scene, I still got into the silence G/L scene more than A/J's one.
I think you guys are definitely in the majority with A/J though, which is cool. I feel like I got a lot out of JoA relationship wise, since I loved both the main couples.

You wanna know why so many shows put the brother if the main character with the girl's best friend? Very simple from the show-runner's standpoint. You have your core characters. Everyone loves them. When you bring other characters between them, fans balk. Iris for Adam, Glynnis for Luke. People loved Joan and Adam and Grace and Luke as characters. Michael and Becky had wonderful chemistry. What else could BH do?
It's a testament to the genius of this show that they dragged it out and made it weird and difficult. Luke and Grace were never boring. I enjoyed them together on the show. But fated? Nope. They were a construct. Adam loved Joan from the moment she first paid attention to him. You can make up your own mind as to when that was. It was so blatantly obvious from the get-go that they were meant to be.
Just my 2 cents. But then, you all knew where I was gonna come down. Especially Butterflies readers.

I liked the Grace luke relationship because it wasn't obvious. Forgetting what you said about the brother/best friend thing, which I never really noticed, Grace and Luke are completely different. The whole silence scene dialogue pretty much explains it, yet they work. Adam and Joan were an obvious match, dragged out, sure, because you knew they were going to get together eventually but there had to be some tension beforehand. But they follow the course of a standard couple that you can predict a couple of episodes in. Again, I really like Adam/Joan, but once they got together it was kind of like, "oh, cool." and my interest began to drop a little. The build up rocked and so did the do the math end scene.
Whereas Grace/Luke, the build up was nicely done and I enjoyed it, but when they got together I was just as, if not more, interested as them.
I think really it comes down to the fact that I, personally, connected with Grace and Luke as a couple more than Adam/Joan. They weren't your average tv teen couple, in fact they were really far from it, and I liked that about them, and that's part of what endeared me to them.

I just found this really sad and depressing Adam clip, one that's all about how lost he is. Of course I love Linkin Park, so I totally dug this one. Joan's not in it much, it's an Adam more than an Adam/Joan clip.

Somehow it's not working for me. But I think I know that song, even though it's on the LP CD I have.

Yeah, it was cool, except the AG & AD clips really took me out of the Adamy moment.

Wow, that's a really cool one. I like the song too. You did an excellent job synchronizing the video with the music. Particularly the dropping of the pom poms.

Thanks. I was a little worried when I watched through it after I saved it (which took over two hours) that the song and the clips wouldn't merge well. But I wasn't about to go back and redo it and be up all night with it. I just love the song for JoA. My favorite part that I did totally by accident, was during the Friedman with Hamlet moment the lyrics are "shut me up, I guess".

Oooh, I'll have to watch it again. I didn't catch that.

Heh, yeah I guess so. The pom pom dropping on the cymbal crash was totally coincidental, I love when things work out like that.

Hehe, ok. The only thing I porposefully (tried) to sync with the music was the very last shot, when Joan got all pixalized as the music chopped up. I just re-read the lyrics, and the line is "shook me up" not "shut me up", but in the context of Friedman "shut me up" is better... to me, it sounds more like "shut me up"
