Re: Misc Stuff

I finally caught the beginning of the Paul Mooney show and when he came out, he hugged, guess who, Lori Petty.  It was so sweet.  And who was Di sitting with?  David Allen Grier and Lori.  DAG was on In Living Color where Mooney was a writer and player.  What was the logo on the drawstring backpack Chris was carrying at FX?  In Living Color.  Knowing who this guy is, it fascinates the hell out of me that Di was at this show, right down front.  Like, I wish I could talk to her about it.

Re: Misc Stuff

This is pretty good news:

They're Back! (At the Negotiating Table)

Rumors spread throughout Hollywood Monday that the first day of renewed talks between the Writers Guild of America and the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers produced concrete results and were likely to lead to a quick settlement. Citing an unnamed insider, L.A. Weekly columnist Nikki Finke reported on her website Monday evening that the AMPTP negotiators arrived at the session with "a very comprehensive proposal." Each side has agreed not to discuss the negotiations with the press; even the site of the talks remains secret. Talks were reportedly set to resume today (Tuesday). Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported today (Tuesday) that NBC's Last Call With Carson Daly will become the first late-night talk show to return to the air since the strike began. Daly is expected to resume production in Burbank this week with new episodes set to air beginning Monday, the A.P. said, citing unnamed sources.

Re: Misc Stuff

The wga_supporters community on LJ doesn't seem too happy with Carson right now and F4W is basically ignoring it, it seems.

Re: Misc Stuff

Well, Carson is non-union so the WGA people can just get over themselves.  Hopefully, the rumors of progress are true and it'll all be over soon enough anyway.  Then Project P can get underway again.

Re: Misc Stuff

Just quickly wanted to say that "The Golden Compass" was excellent. I very much enjoyed it. And the animation was fantastic. I guess the guys would also say that Nicole Kidman was very Rrrrrrr. wink I might just go and see it a second time if the opportunity presents itself. And I'm already looking forward to part 2 and 3, whenever they hit the screens.

Re: Misc Stuff

Elaine and I saw Lars And The Real Girl today.  I thought it was AMAZING.  Ryan was as great as always and we laughed and cried.  I want the DVD of this one.  It's one of those movies that makes you love indies all over again.  It was just about perfect.  Way to go Sidney Kimmel Entertainment! You guys gave me two of my favorite movies of the year.

I liked the preview for that one too. Hope it shows over here in English, I'd go watch it right away. Word is, it's gonna come to Germany on Feb 21, 2008. That's a two and a half months wait! sad

Re: Misc Stuff

I think I have to wait at least one more month to be able to go to the theaters again. I am going to pay an amount of money for my apartment as soon as my wage is on my bank account (which is supposed to be tomorrow ....). That sucks. sad But well, after that I can rent an amount of DVDs and re-watch everything I missed on big screen. big_smile

Re: Misc Stuff

Just saw a new trailer for Cloverfield.  Yep, I guess they're sticking with that as the official title.  It reveals only a tiny bit more than the original teaser.  But it does have this big money shot of The Statue Of Liberty's head getting thrown into the street in New York City.  Looks like the teaser's telling the truth.  It's a street-level, very human take on the giant-monster-destroys-big-city movie.

Re: Misc Stuff

Deb, didn't you say you liked Peter Dinklage? He's gonna be in the second Chronicles Of Narnia movie. I just went looking whether there was a trailer out yet (there was) and when it would start in Germany (Jul 31, 2008). And there I read that Peter is gonna be in it. You didn't see part 1 though, did you? I myself can't wait. I liked part 1 a lot.

Yes, I love that guy.  And no, I didn't see the first one yet.  It's on cable right now though.  Maybe I can catch it soon.  Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: Misc Stuff

Just one reason I could never be Chinese...

China Warns Directors of Films With Erotic Scenes

China's state-run Administration of Radio, Film and Television has warned Chinese film directors and studios that they will be subject to the "heaviest punishment" if they include erotic scenes in their features. "Violating studios might face the harshest punishment of revoking permits for shooting films," it added. Moreover, the censorship body warned, any film director submitting movies with erotic content to overseas film festivals could be subjected to a five-year ban from the movie industry, according to Beijing News. The newspaper listed the following banned content: rape, whoring, obscene sex exposing human genitals, or sex freaks, vulgar conversations, nasty songs and sound effects with sexual connotation. The director Ang Lee recently recut his film Lust, Caution for Chinese consumption to conform to state rules regarding erotic subject matter.

Damn.

Brad Renfro died.  He was only 25 years old.  I know he was very troubled, but I always liked him.  So sad.

Joan: "Wow. I always thought you'd hate me if I was a cheerleader."
Adam: "No way. Why?
Joan: "Because we're subdefectives and it'd be like deserting the army or something."
Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."
