Freedom Writers

Anyone seen this one? Heard about it? Is it any good?

They show it without dubbing this week in my fave theater, so I might just go. Patrick Dempsey. Yay! smile Deb, this one might give a little guidance for "Probation", don't you think?

Re: Freedom Writers

I'd love to see Patrick Dempsey on Big Screen here, but my purse currently says no to cinema visits, so I'm afraid, I can't. Have to wait for the DVD.

Re: Freedom Writers

Didn't hear much about it beyond the usual IMDb crap that it's just exactly like Dangerous Minds.  If I had a penny for everytime someone on IMDb said that I could build my own island off the coast of Dubai!

To tell the truth, the trailer didn't turn me on.  And since I'm not ga-ga for McDreamy, I just didn't see any reason to run out and see it.  Especially true since it was out here at the same times as AD, and that's absolutely all I cared about.

Re: Freedom Writers

I saw this movie and I actually enjoyed it.  I didn't go for McDreamy though.  Don't really think he's all that cute.

But the movie itself was great.  Although I find the book to be a little better.

Re: Freedom Writers

I've decided to watch it on Friday afternoon. I'll let you know what I thought about it afterwards. Haven't read the book. Didn't even know it was based on one. And just for the record: I like Patrick Dempsey, but I don't think he's a cutie. Not backup guy material. In fact, I don't think any of the Grey's Anatomy actors is--at least for me. Give me an Eddie Cahill any day. smile

Same here. Except that my backup guy would be David Krumholtz from Numb3rs. wink

Re: Freedom Writers

I should clarify.  I've always liked Patrick Dempsey as an actor.  Ever since he was a teenager.  And he's plenty cute enough.  He just wasn't motiovation enough for me to spend $9 on a movie.  But I'll probably watch in cable.

Re: Freedom Writers

I'm behind on this one, but I just saw it.   I love this movie.   It's not ground breaking, but as a true story it's seriously amazing.   I have to read the book now...

Re: Freedom Writers

I liked the movie.. but then I tend to like movies regarding teachers making a difference and enriching students' lives because I want to become a teacher some day.

"To Sir, With Love" was another great film on a similar genre/subject matter. "Dangerous Minds" was cool too, hahahaha.

Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."

Re: Freedom Writers

I've seen "Stand and Deliver," but not "The Great Debaters." I think I shall check that out. Thanks for mentioning the film, Melody.

Re: Freedom Writers

No problem. Its really cool but kinda long. I didn't even notice it was a little over 2 hours until after the movie was over. It went by pretty fast for me.
