Yes, it'll be way better than your Siemens phone. That one doesn't even have a color display, does it?

No, it doesn't. Like I said, this is the stone age of mobile phones. LOL

Yay! I've ordered my new "dream PC" yesterday. Most of you here probably aren't computer geeks, and might not understand why I'm getting all excited, but still I wanna share.
This is what I'll be getting:
Intel Core2 Quad 6600 processor (2.4 GHz)
2 GB DDR2 PC800 RAM (I wanted 4 GB, but apparently Windows XP can only handle a maximum of 3 GB)
Gainward 8600GT HDMI 512 MB graphics card
18x LG multiformat DVD writer
500 GB SATA Samsung hard drive
and a snazzy looking black and silver casing to come with it
And I went ahead and ordered a Logitech cordless desktop along with it as well.
I can go get it on Thursday. So I guess my weekend will be spent with installing software and lots of drooling. It would be perfect if I also got my internet back on Saturday and could go online with the new machine as well.
Of course the new arrival will also need a name. And because we already have so many things called Adam, and Cooper is already taken, I have decided to name him Rove. Any objections?

Great computer, TJ!! I'm jealous.

Thanks for the drool help, guys.
Very cool Tina! So where do you put the fuel? or does it use batteries?
Believe it or not, apparently it runs on normal electricity. Who would have thought?

What's your favorite Chris character (aside from Adam, maybe)? Or maybe another favorite TV show/movie character? Or just a name you like for some reason. Is your computer male or female?
Last night I tried to remember the names of all my previous computers and I think I've got it down.
My first one was Maxwell (233 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 4 GB hard drive), my second (used) one was Brainchild (188 MHz, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB hard drive), my third one was Lenny (433 MHz, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB hard drive), my current one is Neo (1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM after upgrade, 240 GB hard drive in total) and my laptop is Bosco (2.2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB hard drive). So my biggest upgrade was between Lenny and Neo, actually. But I already know I'll love Rove. I already made him a funky wallpaper. (Oh, and my parents' computer first computer was called Kyle and their current one... Hm, I don't think I actually named him. Or else I forgot, I don't use it much anymore.)
There's a bit of a story behind my names. Maxwell was named after my favorite Roswell character, Max. Brainchild was named after an ancient computer mentioned on The Pretender once (I was downgrading to a slower machine because I was moving out of my parents' house and they wanted to keep Maxwell), Kyle was named after another Roswell character and Lenny was named after Leonard from the movie Memento. And only because the computer was called Kenny before (it kept dying = making blue screens on my friend who previously owned him). But since it changed owners, I was compelled to change the name, but I wanted to keep it similar. So it changed from Kenny to Lenny. Neo is named after Neo from The Matrix, Bosco is named after Maurice Boscorelli from Third Watch. And Rove is pretty much obvious, I should think.
And, yes, I am slightly crazy. :silly:
Oh, and you know what's funny? I just realized the pic of the keyboard is an English keyboard. Of course I'll be getting a German one. With all the fiddly bits like Ö, Ä, Ü and ß.

Hmpf, the shop called and said they're missing a part and it'll only be ready for pick-up tomorrow instead of today. Oh well... As long as it's gonna be before the weekend, I'm happy.

Yay! I got Rove from the store tonight and--belive it or not--I am indeed back online at home! YAY!!! :dancing: And the speed is WAY fast. I mean, the surfing speed. I will install Rove tomorrow, so I'm still online on Neo right now. Whahooooo! I'm back online! Yay! (Sorry for the excess cheering....)

Not excessive at all! Congratulations. About your dream computer and the renewed internet access. Yea!

Thanks. Man, it's so good to be back online at home. I'm currently installing Windows on Rove, I just couldn't wait after getting back from Trek-Dinner. Too much of a computer nerd.
I'll give you a cheer when I've got Rove set up so I can go online with him. But geez, it's amazing how quiet he is. All you hear of the fan is a very low humming. Very cool! I'm already in love, and I haven't even seen what he can do.

Well, at least we know he has plenty of memory. But does he have any attachments?

LOL. Kinky? Nah... Rove doesn't know how to be kinky. He's only just been "born", he's still learning.
Attachments? Like what? Do we need to move to the Randomness 2.0 thread? Right now the only attachments he has is my 17" flatscreen monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse.
<three hours later>
I'm online with Rove now, after installing a firewall and anti-virus software. And everything's working great. Yay!! :dancing:

Oh, he's GREAT! Verrrrry fast. Rrrrrrrrr.
I'm trying to figure out how to make him recognize Neo's old IDE hard drive, but I don't feel like messing with jumper and BIOS settings anymore tonight. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Haha, major d'oh moment about the hard drive Rove wouldn't recognize. I connected it with the power cable for the fan instead of the one for the hard drive. Of course that didn't have enough power, so no wonder that the hard drive wasn't recognized.
I only have good things to report, though. Pretty much everything installed just fine, besides a few minor problems that were quickly fixed. I can't believe everything went so smoothly. But I'm not complaining. I might post a pic of Rove in his new home later. And I'll stop bragging after that.
