I expected a romantic baseball comedy.

Now that's something I'd like to see.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

When we talked to Chris on Tuesday, he indeed confirmed that Calvin hasn't been shot yet and that it probably will be early next year, like Gary said. And he's still interested in playing Calvin, if he doesn't have other projects lined up during that time. We really hope it'll happen.

And just for the record, Chris also said he likes baseball but sucks at it. He's more of a soccer guy.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

And he started to tell us that he's been working on back-to-back-to-back stuff (wchich we already knew) and has only just finally had a month off.  So it sounds like he needs a break and might get to take one when Nerds is over.  So maybe he won't be tied up with something else when Calvin comes around.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

Yeah, he should take a break and finally have time to sit down and thoroughly check out our website. smile Oh, and btw... was it just me, or did he look like he was quite well tanned? Not the skinny and pale Adam look... He looked very yummy, not only because of the tan. Can't wait to see him all buffed up, when he finally finishes Nerds and hopefully goes back to the gym to go all baseball-booty on us, like he said he was planning to. (Yes, I'm feeling naughty tonight.) tongue

He did indeed look tan and healthy and happy.  And yes, very yummy.  Man, I can't get the image of him dancing around between takes out of my head.  Or playing with the corndog.  Now who's naughty?

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

I might even be persuaded to say that he looked hot, even though I never say that. But the physical thing with him was the least on my mind when we actually talked to him. Guess it's a long-distance thing. Man, I'm being weird. Can you tell I'm just about to go OTR? wink And I hope he doesn't read this. If he does: Chris, really, this is just dirty, frustrated woman talk, just ignore us. This is what we have the drool towels for, in real life we're harmless. Promise. Although you look mighty fine.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

More e-mail from Gary Lundgren:

Hi Tina,

Glad to hear you met and talked with Chris.  Not only is he very
talented, but he's a sweet person -- no ego, all about doing good work.

Having to leave new mexico last year after our prep was difficult,
but false starts are common in this business.  And, we have a great
team assembled so we're all very optimistic about shooting in 2007.

Thanks for the offer of doing promotion.  Once we get rolling I'll
make sure you get some press materials for the website.

take care,

Gary

Did you read that? We might get press material for Calvin! Whoohoo! Wouldn't that be cool? Well, first they have to shoot and produce the movie, but I just can't wait now! Thank you, Gary!!

And I somehow hope Gary didn't read all of the above baseball booty droolings. I just wanna hide in a mouse hole right now. Forgive us, we get a little silly sometimes. Which doesn't mean we still don't appreciate Chris's work, because we're all about that. Oh, and maybe his baseball booty. Deep down inside.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

More e-mail from Gary Lundgren:

hi Tina,  The page on calvin looks great.

One thing that needs correcting is that Calvin's not the worst player in history. He dominates beer league softball in the script and was probably a decent high school player. He's simply not good enough to play at the college level.

Also, the story is a bit quirkier than the synopsis lets on.  Closer to something like Rushmore or Say Anything rather than your typical sports movie.  hope this helps.  -Gary

I'll let Deb explain all the pertinent facts, since I myself don't have the slightest clue what beer league softball is. Yeah, ignorant Germans, the whole lot of them! tongue

Quirky. Cool. I suspect I'll like quirky more than a typical sports movie (me not being into sports an' all).

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

Whoa Dudes, Calvin has moved to the top slot on IMDb as of today!  It says status updated 11/21.  By whom?

1. Calvin Marshall (2007) (in production) .... Calvin Marshall

Wasn't it listed as pre-production before?  Should we email Gary and see if things are suddenly gearing up?

Wouldn't it be cool if ROTN falling apart might've made it possible for Calvin to get going again?  A little earlier even than they thought?  Still hope Chris has at least a month off to recharge (and get back in the gym) before they start shooting.

Yeah, I really hope they can get this project on the road again. The sooner, the better. Would be cool if we knew where they're shooting (or more precisely, if it's gonna be Albuquerque). We should really write to Gary again. Any help, Deb?

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

Guys, you have NO IDEA how badly I want this movie to get made with Chris in the role.  But he said the financing has fallen through again and it is STILL totally up in the air.  But he also said he is still committed as long he's available to do it when it happens.  I actually told him how much I wanna see him in a baseball uni.

Re: Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED

I found something on a message board about a girl/woman who is or was in the process of being cast as Calvin's volleyball-playing girlfriend:
http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/aspplay/m_104070/tm.htm

Something about a Sami. I can't really figure out who she is, but it sounds like someone from Broken Sky Productions found her more or less by accident, her working as a waitress in a place where the Broken Sky people ate. It mentioned something about her studying theatre in Chicago, if I understood it right. They were looking for actresses who played volleyball well enough to be received as a professional volleyball player on screen. They also mentioned something about having interviewed a girl from The O.C., but she had to cancel because of doing another movie. Wonder who. Mischa Barton? Rachel Bilson? I think I'd puke if Chris had to play opposite Mischa Barton. Would be funny if it was Shannon Lucio. smile She was in a couple of O.C. episodes. Or how about Nikki Reed?

So here are a few snippets about Calvin's girlfriend that I could gather from the message board post:
Her name is Tori Jensen and she is a gifted athlete and beautiful.
While the girl is kicking butt in Volleyball,  her mom is dying and there are some tender scenes. There is a batting cage scene where she kinda shows up her boyfriend.

Sounds so cool. The last info on that page is from June 2006. Wish we could e-mail this person who posted it and ask for an update. I'll try to find an e-mail address or maybe post something on that message board if I can.

EDIT: I just e-mailed the poster. Hope we get a reply.

I never watched The OC, but I think I'd also puke if Mischa Barton played the girlfriend. That's definitely a No.
Shannon Lucio, that's the girl from Graduation, right? Don't know her that much, so I don't know ...
I think my vote goes to Nikki Reed. I think she sounds a lot like that girl. At least I think so, although I can't really say why. LOL But at least I've already seen her playing opposite Chris and I liked that a lot.

Let's hope we'll get a reply soon! smile
