Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

I love all the guys.  I think you'll find that it's not the actor (Emile Hirsch) who has a stick up his ass.  It's the character.  That's the point.  He's an uptight guy who can't just relax and have fun, go with the flow.  In the course of the movie, he loosens up.  That's his journey.  Through his love for Danielle, he learns to be spontaneous and seize the moment.  I think it's wonderfully done and one of the things that makes the movie a cut above most teen comedies.

And as Adam would say, "It's funny as hell."

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

I agree with you, Kerrie. Chris's character Eli pretty much stole all the funny parts right out from under everyone. I have yet to see Emile Hirsch in a funny role, but I believe he could pull it off too. He's a good actor, even though I'm not crazy about him.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

*Random* So i just found out that Chris's character Eli Brooks, was inspired by one of my favorite director's Eli Roth. I guess he was friends with one of TGND writers. Yeah I can see where they could get that.lol

Eli Roth is disturbing. So is the scene in Freddy Vs. Jason where Chris's character is murdered. sad

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

Found this one ontd.

Did you know that one of the actors has a band?

Paul Dano has a band!

am2.jpg

page1_6.jpg

they're called Mook. here they are on ~myspace~

i found this out last week. i'm always skeptical of actor's bands because generally they really suck(y helo thar, 30 Seconds to Mars). but Paul Dano's band is so cute and fun and not half bad and i just love them. i mean, they've got a cow on stage.

they've also got like 5 or so songs on iTunes.

could he be more awesome/precious? i just wanna pinch his widdwe cheeks.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

I knew that he had a band but I never listened to them. Hahaha, that cow costume is so funny. Maybe I should listen to them?

I personally think 30 Seconds To Mars don't suck, by the way. But it's okay for me if you don't like their music.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

Anne, it's the person from Oh No They Didn't who doesn't like 30 Seconds to Mars, not Illinois.   If you don't like 30 Seconds to Mars, chances are you just don't like that kinda music.

I love the cow, but it's a little over the top for me.  If you're gonna like a band because they have a cow dancing on the stage with them, then what's the point?  I might check them out later, sans cow.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

I figured Paul Dano to be in a band; he has that look. Wow, that was kind of bad. Anyway, an acquaintance of mines got to meet both Dano and Hirsch (and other celebs) a few weeks ago at an awards thingy and I joked around asking if Chris was there and she replied saying "ew!"

Wtf, "ew"? Either way, I'm glad she didn't get to meet him if he had attended. I dislike it when folks meet people I want to meet and they don't even care for them as much.

Joan: "Wow. I always thought you'd hate me if I was a cheerleader."
Adam: "No way. Why?
Joan: "Because we're subdefectives and it'd be like deserting the army or something."
Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

That was the SAG Awards, probably.  Chris was not there.  Both Emile and Paul were in movies that were being honored.  Chris has nothing.  And quite frankly, as much as I love those guys, I'm sick of seeing them at awards shows and seeing Chris nowhere.

Paul played guitar and sang in this weird-ass movie I saw not too long ago.  The title escapes me right now, but I'm not surprised he has a band either.

Hah. Paul Dano has a band? that's cool, might have to check it out, I mean if they're cool enough to have a cow onstage, they might be okay.

The King. Very fitting description of the movie, by the way. It was bizarre. But I love Dano's voice. I bought Mook's EP on iTunes at least a year ago. Love them.

What I posted is from ONTD and is their opinion.

Personally I never heard any song from either of these groups.

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up. You should listen to 30 STM, Illinoisguy. THe Kill, A Beautiful Lie, and Capricorn, are really good songs of theirs.

I agree that A Beautiful Lie is a great song, but if you don't like that kind of music then you aren't gonna like 30 Second to Mars.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

30 STM are right up my alley too, so I bought both their albums. But it's not something I can listen to every day, I have to be in the mood. For one thing, the extended version of the video for "From Yesterday" is majorly cool. I just love the imagery and colors they used.

Re: The Girl Next Door (ADULT LANGUAGE!!!)

ok, so you can kill me now, but it took me this long to see this movie.

but damm it's funny!!!!
i actually really enjoyed it. i only watched it because of chris and emile but i ended up really liking the movie.
chris is so funny i could die laughing. i am defenitly going to remember for some decades to come : please, fuck her for me!!! for me man!!!! lol:lol::lol: i am still laughing now as i think about it. i feel i could go on forever about how much fun chris is. i mean i was used to him being sensitive and deep like in joa or tic code. or  crazy like in huff . or weird like in alpha dog. but this is something else. can i say funny like 100 more times???? sorry if i seem redundant but i enjoyed this a lot.
emile is very good and even if the movie is made out just to be a comedy i liked how he acted the role. and the relationship he has with D comes of as really touching and the chemistry between the actors is so right. well, also emile is a hottie and i enjoyed watching him for this too.
i could bring out the flaws in this and the slight resemblances with risky bussiness but maybe i am crazy but i think chris and emile in a movie are 100 times better then tom cruise. well, at least for me.
now i am going to sleep and i might just be laughing in my dreams.
