Laura, where's that picture of Fat Bastard that you made. We need to start this thread off with it so people can know the enemy.
I've moved the stuff from the regular thread to here so no one will get suckered into learning what has been done to our movie in the name of greed...
Anybody wanna know the new fucktard ending of Fanboys? Somebody posted it on IMDB and I bet it gets deleted really quick....
Scroll down only if you really wanna know. Sean, you can attest to the fact that the REAL ending is totally different...
I'M SERIOUS....
DON'T READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANNA KNOW WHY TEEJAY AND I WERE TOLD THAT THE NEW ENDING WAS GONNA TOTALLY PISS EVERYONE OFF....
MASSIVE SPOILER!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Last night, when the group finally gets to skywalker ranch, they are aprehended. And then released after a series of SW and sex trivia. Soon after in the car ride, one of the friends pulls out the movie they saw "the crawl" *which I and many other fans call the opening*. It is in fact Episode 1. However when they put it in a portable dvd player, the movie is not even done being made. The special effects are missing and it just ruins it. After 5minutes they decide to turn it off and wait it out for the real movie to come out. Now explain to me, if one of the friends was dying. How may that all tie in together? It was good the way it was. Don't mess with it anymore, and for those advocating a cancer based storyline I'm sorry this wasn't what you were asking for, but trust me on this. If they did include cancer, most of this movie would not make sense.

You know what? The movieraider person is a complete and utter idiot. He doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just totally clueless and doesn't even want to hear about the other version, so he knows what he's missing. I could go out on a big rant on him... I really want to, but I won't. I've had enough rants this week

MORE PLANT-LIKE YAMMER FROM THE POSTER WHO SPOILED THE NEW ENDING...
I love how she admits that the girl sitting next to her thought it was crap and just Superbad with nerdier characters. But she of course thinks it's genius. Remember, 17 YO girl. (Or plant)...
The cancer plot idea is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard of. A dying friend wants to go steal something and watch it before everyone else? That is retarded. This movie was amazing the way they did it. Half the stuff they put into it a cancer ridden patient would never have been able to do. *I would know this because my father died of cancer* And you do have to be a SW fan to like it, I sat next to someone who had never seen starwars and was appalled about how ridiculous it was. I asked her why and she said "it was just another Superbad with more nerdy people." I incredibly hope they stick with the idea I saw last night. And on the questionarre they handed out from the movie last night, one of the questions was "If you had to pick one of these options to include in the plot what would it be?" One of them was indeed adding that one of the characters was dying with cancer. I asked people around me, and they all marked "More inclusion of the Star Wars cast." Anyway, I say forget the cancer plot and stick with this one. Pure gold.
My genteel replies...
Movieraider, you haven't read it. You never saw the original version. You had no idea it even existed before last night. You CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW that the emotional, sweet, heartfelt and still funny as hell original story was stupid or didn't work. You just can't. And you will not understand why those of us who had an early preview --- like the standing ovation crowd at Celebration Europe --- LOVED it the way it was. It was special. Now, it sounds like absolute horseshat.
PS: That's very sneaky and dishonest of them to ask on the questionnaire, should they ADD the cancer plot. It WAS the story. The story was inspired by Ernie Cline's original idea of what he would do if he found out he wouldn't live to see Ep I back in the day. It was the IMPETUS of the story. They weren't toying with the idea of ADDING it. Fat Bastard and the Cynical Suits at TWC are merely trying to draw in more of the 12-17 demographic who made Superbad a hit. The girl sitting next to you was right, they have completely ruined this movie. If these money-grubbing crap-spewing moguls want another damn Superbad, let 'em make a sequel.
And I've got news for you, most of the SW fans who participated in the making of the film have read the whole script and they prefer the REAL story.
Most of the fanatical fans at CE who gave it three standing ovations do too.
Leave our movie alone!

This was my amazingly levelheaded response to MoronRaider.
unless you want to really hate me don't read this
Too late, sweetie.
Do some research on the original storyline before you bash it. You obviously know nothing about what the movie was and could have been.
No, really. At the moment, that's very calm for me.

She didn't even know there was another version until today! She thinks they want to ADD the cancer plot. But I stand corrected on her age (if she's not plant-life). She was 17 the last time she posted on IMDb with that alias, all the way back in 2003. I didn't notice the date on her post in which she says so.

I don't believe for a minute that she's 22 and that clueless and immature.

Hey, if she's real, she's entitled to love the movie. I just think she needs to stop bashing the REAL story, like you said. She doesn't know anything about it.
If Fat Bastard wasn't a coward he would test the two versions AGAINST each other, head to head, with a reasonably MIXED audience of people who actually freakin' WANT to see it. Then we'd have an honest answer.

Here's a beautiful scene that will not exist in the no-plot fucktard version:
At Grand Canyon, Linus decides to accept his fate and throw away his pills...

So what actually happened in the real story? All I know is that Linus has cancer and presumably by the signs of your signature pic, Deb, dies.
But since I'm probably never actually going to see the original movie, could you tell me the original version? I'm past worrying about spoiling it at this point.
Offline
I haven't read all of the original ending, so the very last bit is speculation based on the 4000 plus photos we have, and reading up to and a bit into that end scene...
You know the basic story by now, Linus's friends take him on a quest to steal a print of SW Ep I so he can see it before he dies. They do reach Skywalker Ranch and they're apprehended by Lucas Security breaking in. Hilarity ensues. Eventually, Linus dies, having been allowed to see the movie on his own, but he has to sign a confidentiality agreement that he won't reveal a thing.
Later, he tells his best friend Eric, from whom he has been estranged for nearly 6 years, that it was never really about the movie; it was about them, this group of friends, particularly Linus and Eric reuniting one last time before it was too late. The still pic TeeJay used for the banner is Linus's last moment onscreen. From there it fades to a massively long camp-out line at a theater where the surviving friends wait to finally see the movie and talk about Linus. Opening Ep I music. Big smiles. The end.
Sean, you can correct me if I'm wrong. But this is what I speculated before and Ken asked me to delete it because it was more or less what actually happens.

That girl who likes the non-cancer plotline is crazy! She needs to see both versions before she says anything. And if she doesn't have anything good to say she needs to shutup.

This just cracked me up:
If they did include cancer, most of this movie would not make sense.
Honey, the cancer storyline is the movie. It's what drives it! It's what drives all the characters. This is just ass-backward. And if all the discussion on IMDb is now about how great the non-cancer version of the story is, then I don't see any hope in ever seeing the real version in theaters. TPTB will take all the enthusiasm of the 17-year-old girls to totally turn it around on us and say: Look, we only gave you the cancer-free version because the audience wanted it. This just all sucks to no end. And it's breaking my heart that Chris is saying these changes won't affect his role. Oh well, at least then he won't be totally disappointed by the end product, like we will.

Of course you're not alone, Dee. If I had a Weinstein voodoo doll, it would have more holes than doll by now. But what I hate most is that we have no power at all over what's happening. TPTB are only gonna listen to their 16-year-old target audience. And we've heard what they think... It's all so sad and tragic. This is not what I signed up for when I started to throw myself into following everything this movie and its journey had to offer for two freakin' years!

I honestly didnt thing the target age group was so young. I figured it would be for more people in there late twenties maybe thirties who went thru that whole thing when the new star wars came out.. or even the people who lived through star wars the first time around u know! most teenagers... "star wars... was that a tv show in the sixties" and im serious thats how it is here.. at least.

Yeah, well, the Fat Bastard has it all backwards. Seriously, did you think that any decision he was making about Fanboys would be making any sense? I hear ya, Doree. Unfortunately, the people that matter don't.

Here's one suggestion I posted on IMDb last night, but we all know that the Cowardly Suits don't have the eggs to take me up on it...
Hey, TWC, if you really want to be honest, test the movie for an audience of SW fans who are just a wee bit OLDER than tweenyboppers.
Test it for fans of Chris Marquette and Kristen Bell and Sam Huntington and Dan Fogler and Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen.
Test it for people who participated in the making of it --- Go 501st (and all the others I don't know)!
Test it for people outside your weird little Hollywood bubble.
Test your despicable rape of the plot against the story the creative team signed on to make.
Head to head.
Balls to the wall.
Have some guts.
