So Brill is assuming they didn't show the whole movie at Celebration Europe? I think he's wrong. Can anyone support this? They showed 45 minutes of clips at C IV, I think, but the whole thing at C Europe.
-TeeJay
I know for a fact that the '45 minutes of clips' was shown at C4 which I attended, but my understanding is that the actual 'rough cut' of the film(Cancer Version) was shown at Celebration Europe.
I'll do some more digging.

It was, Sean. No need to dig. I'm talking to a guy on IMDb who was there. You've seen his posts. Calls himself MindVault. I sent Brill's comments to Kyle. He said it was incredible that Brill would say such a thing. They showed the whole movie to 1800 people in London.

Right on,
I was trying to find someone who watched it over on the Star Wars Forums, but I had forgotten about Mindvault.
In case anyone's curious, here's the thread over on the Fan Force pages about the boycott:

Cool! I'll check it out. Thanks for the link.

Just in case it gets deleted from IMDb...
No good movie ever came from meddling by studio executives after market research. This is the reason movies suck so much today. Nothing hits the big screen anymore before market research. The trouble is that most market research it's inherently dishonest. It puts the cart before the horse and wags the dog. In other words, these market research firms are paid to re-enforce what their clients want to hear, not to tell them the truth.
Hence, you learn that there were plants in the audience during recent test screenings of Fanboys, trying to skew people's opinions about the movie toward what TWC wanted. It's also despicable that they restricted the test audiences of the two competing versions to kids, while jacking up the profanity for a slightly older audience in a "polish" that was "tighter and dirtier". And still both of the plot-free versions tested only two points higher than the real movie.
And under pressure, Mr. Brill has become Mr. Shrill.
For once, why can't a studio trust the audience? Give us a polished version of the real story and we're there. Why are they fighting their built-in audience to go after children with a movie that kids couldn't care less about? TWC has to know that they're never going to have a $20 million opening weekend on the backs of 12-17 year-olds. But they could have opened to $10 million on the backs of Star Wars fans alone. More if they'd leave in the sweet plot where the cute guy's dying, for the girls.
This just makes no sense. Money's money. If they want ours, they know what to do. We want a great cult movie that we can watch over and over --- meaning one that we'll see in the theater and then buy on DVD. We don't want some run-of-the-mill T&A dorkfest that no one of voting age can relate to.
If TWC really believes in the Brill version, and Kyle really believes in his (he does), why can't we try the ultimate marketing test? Release both versions, in equally polished form. Split the 1000 theaters you wanted to open in right down the middle --- making sure that both versions are accessible in all major cities --- just for the first week. See which version most people go for and decide what to do with it that second week based on the first week's tally.
What more can they lose at this point? Bad word of mouth is spreading so fast that they might lose the entire audience if they let this go on much longer. I dare say Brill has done tremendous harm to the movie's rep in the last week with his angry, insulting, vulgar diatribes.
TWC should apologize on his behalf, convince him to honor his confidentiality contract. And give us our movie.

Posted something on theforce.net. Hope it's appropriate, Sean. I read the whole thread and surprisingly, those people don't know half as much as we do about this thing. I just wanted to set the record straight.

Great post on IMDB, Deb!!

Got it from a reliable source that there will be another screening next week (no idea which version) and at that point a decision will be made about distribution. So maybe this long nightmare is almost over and we'll know something soon.

Maybe the nightmare will be over, but I'm pretty sure, we'll still be angry and disappointed. It seems to me that if they actually wanted to test the different versions to find out which one garnered a better response they would have screened them against each other to the same audience. If, on the other hand, what they wanted was results to back up their already made decision, they would screen them separately and put some plants in the one they intend on releasing, for good measure. And what does it looks like they've done?
They don't have the balls to have a fair test between the versions, they just want data to back up their decision.
But yes, at least we'll know what's happening, soon.

I have no idea what's going to happen. Of course I'm hoping for them to go with the cancer version of the movie, but somehow I believe them to be too currupted and stubborn to actually have the guts for that. Even after all that's happened, I'd be surprised if they buckled and released the version that we want. If we don't get to see the cancer version of the movie, I hope someone will somehow find a way to leak it and we'll find it popping up online somewhere.
One thing's for sure, Harvey will love us all for having delivered to him a huge publicity boost of Fanboys totally free of charge. Because, let's be honest, we brought this movie back into the limelight when it had almost been forgotten except maybe among the few Star Wars and Marquette fans who were still following it.
Also, please go here and cast your vote, starwars.com has a poll about Fanboys up (lower left hand corner): http://www.starwars.com/whatsnew

We've already started to see results. The "worried" votes are up from 34% just yesterday to 51% today. That's amazing. Keep voting, people.

Actually, I think you need to have an account on starwars.com to vote. I signed up with one, so I didn't notice, but apparently if you're not logged in, when you try to vote, you get an error that you need to sign in.

Yea, I'm not a member and I voted.
ETA: At least I think I voted, lol. I clicked on the yes...concerned option and it directed my to the results page, but I just noted when I went to vote again, that is does say "Note: You must be registered in order to vote. Click here to register" on the results page. So, I don't know if it counted my vote or not. honestly, can't tell.

I think, like someone said on theforce.net, you can vote once without registering and you can vote once a day after you register.
