Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Apparently Mike said somewhere that he was trying to pack everything for the trip to the movie's location but couldn't find any socks. That's what it says in the article that I linked to.

Now on to something fun, frivolous, and…well…just plain goofy. In our recent interview with Mike Welch, the actor who will be playing Mike Newton in Twilight, he mentions packing and not being able to find any socks. Now, for those of you who read the interview, pretty much one of the first things you notice is the off-beat sense of humor Mike has. So, we had an idea. Why not have the fans send him socks so he's never without?

So, if you would like to participate, drop Mike a note and pair of socks. You can order socks through our Amazon shop.  Here, here, and here are just a few samples.(OK, things I never anticipated, I've been asked his sock size. YIKES! I have no idea. He's 5′10" so I'm thinking he probably doesn't have small feet.)

Yelchin is Reese in New Terminator
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
March 19, 2008

Anton Yelchin (upcoming Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett) is in negotiations to star as post-apocalyptic warrior Kyle Reese in director McG's new Terminator movie, says The Hollywood Reporter.

With production scheduled to start in early May, Paul Haggis also has been in talks about coming on board to work on the script.

Yelchin will play a teen version of Reese, the man who fathered world savior John Connor in the original "Terminator" film.

Christian Bale will play John Connor in the film, produced by the Halcyon Co. and set for a Warner Bros. release on May 22, 2009.

Reese, one of the children who survived a machine-driven nuclear holocaust, befriends Marcus (Sam Worthington), an early edition of the Terminator cyborg played in previous films by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In McG's film, the character is a young version of the one played by Michael Biehn, who traveled back in time in the original to impregnate Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and father the world's future savior.

The film picks up with their son (Bale), now in his 30s, fighting desperately to save a decimated civilization against machines that have taken control.

Halcyon's Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson are producing with Moritz Borman. David Campbell Wilson, John Brancato and Michael Ferris wrote the screenplay. Principal photography is set to begin in early May.

Here's a picture of Michael Welch (I think) on the set of Twilight, in the brown/tan jacket

And he's totally dissing that girl with the triple high five.  Not cool, Mike!

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Unless they changed the scene from a leaked clip I saw a few weeks ago, this might be what they're saying

"Awesome, man, we jumped over a truck!  High five!"
"Hey, I jumped over the truck too!"
"No, you jumped over the tire" tongue

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

NEW YORK -- Lyle Lovett and Harry Dean Stanton are traveling with Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges on "The Open Road."

Stanton will play the grandfather of Timberlake's character, a young man trying to reconcile with his father (Bridges) as he heads home to his ill mother's bedside. Lovett will play a Memphis bartender who lends a helpful ear to Timberlake.

Writer-director Michael Meredith ("Three Days of Rain") is shooting the project in Louisiana and other Southern locales. Kate Mara and Mary Steenburgen also star.

Perfect Weekend's Justin Moore-Lewy and Charlie Mason are producing with Meredith, Jordan Foley, Laurie Foxx and David Schiff.

Odd Lot principals Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker are executive producing with Heidi Levitt, Scott MacFarland, Jason Hewitt and director Wim Wenders.

Lovett ("Walk Hard") is repped by Paradigm and Ken Levitan of Vector Management. Stanton ("Alpha Dog") is repped by Bresler, Kelly & Associates.

LOL!  OMG!  Eli just called his boss a fanboy!  He was so stuffily, hilariously appalled.  Hearing him repeat it was priceless.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I saw Amber's movie The Russel Girl yesterday. It was great! Very sad, but very good performances, especially by Amber and that woman who played the blond woman (can't remember her name right now).

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I liked The Russell Girl too. Not the best movie ever (very predictable), but Amber's performance was wonderful. For that alone it's worth watching. (Thanks again, Carol!)

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Anyone gonna watch Speed Racer? I just looked at two HD trailers on apple.com. Looks like a fun ride (literally). And it's got this very shiny, comicy look that I don't think I've seen before anywhere else. I might just go and see it, even though I'm not overly fond of Emile. But Matthew Fox is in it too, so... wink

The one that also looked interesting is "The Life Before Her Eyes". But that's a whole other genre. Heavy drama stuff. And Ellen Page's new movie, "The Tracey Fragments" looks weird but interesting.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Dave and I will see Speed Racer, I'm sure.

Here's some interesting Chris Connections...

I just saw Stop Loss.  Good movie, not spectacular, but thought-provoking and well done.  Made me cry once.  Anyway...

Channing Tatum is in it.  He and Chris were both cast in Oliver Stone's ill-fated Pinkville.
Alex Frost was in it.  He took over the lead role in Calvin Marshall when Chris dropped out.
And Ciaran Hinds is in it.  He and Chris will be working together soon in a project we hope to be able to tell you all about within the next few days.

The most striking thing about the movie are the battle scenes.  I've never heard more realistic gunfire and explosions in my entire movie-going life.  The sound design and sound editing are Oscar-worthy.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Stop Loss is already on my dvd wishlist. Looks like a real good movie.

What's really sad is that it looks like it'll bomb at the box office. Looks like 21 and Superhero movie will make much more.

Speed Racer looks pretty close to the 1967 cartoon. I am so glad that they didn't change the Mach 5. Looking forward to the dvd of that.

I have already bought 2 Speed Racer toys.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Yeah, I don't think it'll make much money either, Illinois.  Only about 10 people in the audience.  But there was nobody in SuperCrapFest Movie either.  I don't think SL will crack $5 Million, but I don't think SM will crack $10 million.  Maybe, maybe $14.  It just looks so tired.  I think people are sick of that junk.
