Well, looks like the local protests didn't do much:
Our NY/LA protests this past Friday didn't have a huge turnout, and the fans who did show up were run off by a mob of security guards who escorted anyone with a sign, costume, or camera off the premises. But we want to thank all of the fans who made an effort to be there!
More at http://www.seeya.at/stopdarthweinstein/
I take it there will be no press coverage of it either. Too bad.

Maybe they shot themselves in the foot by announcing the locations online. Probably TWC called those theaters and asked that anyone who showed up for the protest be removed. So much for freedom of speech, huh?

Yeah, I'm sure the security guard presence there was premeditated. To be quite honest, I didn't have high hopes for the local protests to do much in the first place. And it's great that Superhero Movie doesn't seem to do great at the box office, but can that really be attributed to Fanboys protesters not buying tickets? Let's hope so, but frankly? I don't think it'll have any effect on Harvey and his gang.
Let's see if Sid and his followers will be all over this on IMDb, screaming 'told you so'!!

Comcast news did a story on the protest. At one point it sounds like they're confused by it... but it's still media coverage.

Here is the key paragraph...
Organizers learned quickly that it's all about location, location, location. For Los Angeles, the group chose a mall in Century City rather than a public area. Malls are private property and AMC and Weinstein Co. personnel were able to shut down protesters, visibly identifiable in "Star Wars" costumes or geekwear such as a Green Lantern T-shirt, almost as soon as they stepped foot into the outdoor mall.
But, awwwww, this is why we fight for these guys...
"We've been working on this movie for many years and if someone is going to take time out of their personal life and support our film, whatever that support may be, at the very least what we can do is say thank you and buy them a couple of slices of pizza for caring about this project as much as we do," "Fanboys" producer Matthew Perniciaro said.

I thought we posted something last week with quotes from Matt & Kevin Mann. I think it was in the Reuters article. They are totally on our side. These are the guys who've been in the trenches with this thing the whole way.

A nice PS to this whole thing is that Kevin Spacey's "21" was #1 with $23.7 million. :applause:

Hollywoodreporter.com wrote an article about Friday's local protests:

Sounds almots identical to the Comcast article that Laura posted earlier, though. I think they were quoting the HR one, actually.

Variety is running a story too. It ends with:
The Los Angeles protest drew very few supporters. Those who did show were decked out in "Star Wars" regalia. The website noted gleefully that "Superhero," which debuted with $9.5 million, had underperformed expectations, but the Weinstein Co. said the protest had very little, if any, impact on the film's box office.

Uh huh... because 5 million dollars under what was expected is no big deal

Deb, weren't you ranting and raving about how Blockbuster treats their employees? Well, looks like here's another reason why to boycott them. Someone (who can't spell) posted this on IMDb:
If you are going to boycot the Weinstein company there are far better reasons.
Weinstein group have signed a contract giving Blockbuster exclusive rights to there films No one elese can sell them (unless they first buy them from BB) this is terrable for movie fans.
If you do not have a BB inyoure town you are screwed (the idea is that you will rent onlune from BB)
The hope is to make BB (who are consitently the worst video rental stores around) the main video rental store (both online and inshop).
These are cheap and weak tactics and should not be supported. Also consider that BB have there hands heavely into the editing and censorship of films.
Film is art as well as entertainment and should not be censored.
BB is also a heavely religeuse/unscrupulus orginization, just another money making machine.
