Anyone gonna watch Speed Racer? I just looked at two HD trailers on apple.com. Looks like a fun ride (literally). And it's got this very shiny, comicy look that I don't think I've seen before anywhere else. I might just go and see it, even though I'm not overly fond of Emile.
I'm definitely going to see Speed Racer in theatres opening weekend. Emile is really talented and amazing!! ( :

Can't believe that Stop Loss only made 4.5 million and Superhero Movie made 9.5 million.
Oh well. I guess people would rather go see a crap movie compared to a better one.
Speaking of IMDB, there are already idiots judging the movie solely on it's box office. And of course childish name calling on both sides. Of course we experienced the same thing on AD board.

I didn't know Timothy Olyphant was in it. I have to see that movie. He's awesome!!

What gets me is that Charlie only made $4,010,923 worldwide and gets all of these very good extras. 3 audio commentaries, deleted scenes & featurettes.
And yet Alpha Dog made $31,111,400 worldwide and we get an almost bare-bones dvd from Universal.
Could you imagine Alpha Dog with 3 audio commentaries, deleted scenes and featurettes, even perhaps that one that Heather (I Believe) made?
Offline
Don't get me started, Illinois.
Actually, what Heather made is a 90 minute documentary on the real case, and the evolution of the film. It's not just some little featurette.

If that Heather documentary ever gets put out on an Alpha Dog dvd they would likely break it up into segments.
Why, because as I understand it, if a making of segment runs a certain length than they have to pay the participants more. And being Universal is kind of cheap, they would likely break it up to reduce pay-outs.
Offline
Not always. There's a full length documentary on the Hedwig & The Angry Inch DVD. It's wonderful. I've watched it almost as many times as I've watched the actual movie. But I just don't think Universal will ever care enough about Alpha Dog to give us the extras.

Anton Yelchin & Shia LaBeouf to star in same movie.
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20190317,00.html
After months of rumors and speculation, the trades report a confirmed list of actors and directors on board for the Gotham-set anthology feature ''New York, I Love You''
Orlando Bloom, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon are reportedly among the group of actors and directors taking part in the anthology feature New York, I Love You. The project, a collection of 12 shorts shot in each of New York's five boroughs, is being compared to Paris, je t'aime, the French-language film that used a similar approach with Paris as the setting. Names have been swirling around the Internet for the past year, but on Wednesday (April 10), the trade papers reported a comprehensive listing of those involved, both in front of and behind the camera.
Hollywood Reporter reports that LaBeouf is starring with Christie in a segment, written by the late Anthony Minghella and directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth: The Golden Age), about a woman who checks into a hotel somehow caught between worlds. There, she meets a young man and the two discover a connection and begin to understand their situation. The short is being described as similar to Minghella's feature Truly Madly Deeply. Natalie Portman is making her directorial debut with a short (she also stars in one), as is Scarlett Johansson, who is directing a segment that follows the journey of a lonely man and his vision of the city. Photos of Johansson lining up shots made the rounds in the blogosphere last month.
Variety reports that directors Bret Ratner, Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding), and Alan Hughes are among those sharing helming duties. In addition to Bacon, Hawke, Bloom, Christie, and LaBeouf, the other actors reportedly confirmed for the movie include: Carlos Acosta, Justin Bartha, Rachel Bilson, James Caan, Bradley Cooper, Chris Cooper, Drea de Matteo, Irrfan Khan, Cloris Leachman, Blake Lively, Emilie Ohana, Maggie Q, Shu Qi, Olivia Thirlby, Eli Wallach, Saul Williams, Robin Wright-Penn, Anton Yelchin, and Ugur Yucel.
The movie is said to be about halfway through a 10-week shoot. Domestic rights are still under negotiation.
