It sounds like a lot of fun to me.
And I still think Sean Astin's a cutie too. I've always tried to see everything he's in. In fact, I'm a fan of that whole family. I miss Mack!

Walken is hosting this week's SNL. It's the first time he's hosted in quite a few years. It should be great. "We need more cowbell!"

Donna, Mack Astin is still acting, just not very often. It's been a couple of years since I saw him in anything. He popped up on Lost. Last time I saw him he was so handsome and manly my jaw dropped. He's not overly tall, but he's still so cute!

Hee. Chandra Wilson was around a long time before "Grey's Anatomy" came along. I saw a rerun of an old episode of "The Cosby Show" and she was on as one of Theo's girlfriends. I think it was from the 80s.

About Those Full-Season DVDs During A Shortened Season...
The Walt Disney Co. seems to have solved the problem of how to release full-season DVDs of its most popular shows when the season has been shortened by a strike. The company's home-entertainment unit said Friday that the DVDs for this season's Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Lost will include extended versions of the TV episodes and will include bonus features. Grey's Anatomy will carry the subtitle: "The Complete Fourth Season -- Expanded." It will hit the stores on Sept. 9. Private Practice will carry the subtitle: "The Complete First Season -- Extended" and will bow the following week. Lost, the show with the shortest unabbreviated title on TV, will be lengthily subtitled: "The Complete Fourth Season -- The Expanded Experience." It is due to be released on Dec. 9 and will include special segments that will unlock plot secrets, Disney said.

Here's some news on which shows might/might not be coming back in the fall, from The Hollywood Reporter...
Networks generous with renewals
Some shows will get second chances despite ratingsBy James Hibberd
May 4, 2008, 09:16 PM
For broadcast series still hoping for a renewal, last week was rough sledding.
CBS' "Shark" and ABC's "Women's Murder Club" returned to post about a 2.0 rating among adults 18 to 49, joining low-rated outings by fellow bubble shows "Moonlight" (CBS), "Boston Legal" (ABC) and "Reaper" (The CW).
But with most scripted series struggling from a writers strike ratings hangover, the networks seem inclined to give some of the lagging shows a second chance this fall.
Here's how things stand:
-- "Men in Trees": Producers of ABC's drama were recently told the show will not return for a third season. Last year, the show scored a surprising early renewal, but last month averaged only about a 1.6 demo rating.
-- "Boston Legal": A recent episode of "Legal" hit a series low but, then again, what show hasn't? Given a strong lead-in, "Legal" tends to hold a reliable number. It's also an Emmy darling. A likely pickup.
-- "Reaper": The word on CW's cult-favorite supernatural dramedy has turned unexpectedly positive. Though recent episodes have pulled about a 1.1 rating, the CW needs a suitable Thursday night partner for "Supernatural" as next season is expected to be the last for "Smallville." Plus, after adding DVR use, "Reaper" ratings often climb a higher percentage than any other series, and CW executives are fond of the show.
-- "Shark": Another network might be inclined to give this drama another chance, but CBS sets a high ratings bar for pickups and "Shark" has a tough time clearing it. Industry oddsmakers are pessimistic about a fall return.
-- "The New Adventures of Old Christine": With CBS' Monday night comedy block continuing to perform strong while other returning shows crash, the network is considering opening up another night of comedy. If so, the net is going to need "Christine." As for "How I Met Your Mother," a pickup is considered a given.
-- "Moonlight": Since returning post-strike, "Moonlight" remains the weakest link in CBS' Friday night lineup. Yet the vampire drama continues to win its time period. A pickup is all but certain.
-- "Eli Stone": and "Women's Murder Club" The bubbliest of the bubble shows, "Stone" has split industry opinions. The season finale scored only a 2.0 rating. Yet ABC likes the show and the network has a history of giving a second chance to modestly rated freshman series ("Trees," "What About Brian"). If ABC picks up "Stone," a renewal for similarly rated "Murder Club" becomes less likely.
-- "Cashmere Mafia" and "October Road": With uninspiring ratings and stars of both ABC shows posed to move to other projects, a return appears unlikely.

ABC nears 'Mars' pickup
David E. Kelley pilot was shot last summerBy Nellie Andreeva
May 6, 2008, 09:45 PM
ABC is close to picking up David E. Kelley's pilot "Life on Mars" to series.
"Mars," which had been dormant since the pilot was shot last summer, has been gaining momentum in the past week.
"October Road" creators Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg -- all repped by Endeavor -- are in talks to come on board as exec producers, and ABC Studios in talks with 20th TV to join as a co-producer.
However, sources indicated that no deals can be made without the blessing of Kelley, who created the U.S. version of the British series and owns the rights to it.
Meanwhile, Kelley is reevaluating his involvement in the project as it goes forward.
"Mars" stars Jason O'Mara as a 21st century detective who finds himself working as a cop in the 1970s.

Okay, so explain to me why they need to shoot the same series again when LOM episodes are already available and don't even have to be dubbed or subtitled? Is the series too British for Americans to understand or relate to? Why the need for a "remake"? Are there no original ideas anymore in Hollywood? (Okay, I guess I'm asking the wrong person here.)
But I see where they're coming from, the same thing is happening here too. We have our own, German (and Germanized) versions of ER and various other US shows. And the experience that I've made with pretty much all of them (not that I've ever really watched any) is that they generally suck ass and are just really really cheap remakes with ridiculous storylines and characters so fake that they almost make you laugh. But of course I can't speak for any US remake shows. Who knows, maybe it'll even turn out really cool. Not that I think I'm gonna watch it.

Since I've never seen the show, I wouldn't know why they want to remake it. Generally, when that happens, they just lift the concept and populate it with American characters and American settings. Are there any good ideas left in Hollywood? Not so much because it's too insular. They won't let new writers in very easily. So you get situations like this where someone like David E. Kelley --- who used to be pretty brilliant at creating his own ideas --- just mines other cultures for their stories because his well is apparently dried up. It's infuriating. And more or less why I kinda gave up trying to break into a business that wants nothing to do with original voices.

I have heard of that long ago. I won't watch it. I mean, no offense, I like a lot of American shows (you know which ones! ), but LOM is a classic that should not be remade.

Are we facing an actor's strike...?
AMPTP Breaks Off Talks With SAG
As expected, the Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers ended their first round of bargaining talks on Tuesday without an agreement. However, although reports had previously described the negotiations as cordial, the latest ones said that they had ended on a bitter note, fueling the belief that the industry would be staggering into another strike in July. Indeed, SAG President Alan Rosenberg told Daily Variety that the guild may ask its members to authorize a strike as early as next week. In a statement, the AMPTP said that SAG's insistence on "unreasonable demands" had been the reason for its decision to discontinue the talks. SAG, it said, had rejected the "fundamental business and labor principles" that the directors', writers' and producers' guilds had already accepted. For its part SAG maintained that it had "modified" its original demands while the AMPTP had refused to budge from its own position. "Our negotiating team is prepared to work around the clock for as long as it takes to get a fair deal. We want to keep the town working," Rosenberg said in a statement. Meanwhile, negotiators for the AMPTP are expected to open negotiations with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists today (Wednesday). SAG reportedly has 120,000 members; AFTRA, 70,000. About 44,000 belong to both unions.
Everyone keep all your fingers and toes crossed. If this happens, that very special as-yet-unnanounced project that Chris has lined up for the summer might go the way of Pinkville. And I don't think I could take another huge blow like that.
