I caught the end of the edited version once but I read a script of the original version Amber posted on her myspace a while back, not all of it though so I wouldn't ruin the movie for myself. Just from what I saw and read, the original is way better.

OK, well, there was nothing else on so I watched it and I thought she was INCREDIBLE. Maybe they edited it into something imperfect. But I understood Wendy completely because as always, it's all right there in Amber's face. I want to see the original now, uncut, of course. I can't say I loved the movie as a whole, but dayum. She is just amazing. :grovel:

Well, let's hope that a certain movie set to start production soon is one of the ones that made a deal...
SAG Signing Waivers With Indies
The Screen Actors Guild has signed some 300 deals with independent film producers that will allow actors tocontinueworking after June 30, the day the SAG's contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is set to expire, Daily Variety reported today (Wednesday). The trade publication observed that the number of waivers guarantees that at least a "modicum" of work will continue through the summer. Meanwhile, SAG resumed negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers that had been on a three-day hiatus since Friday.

SAG May Ask AFTRA Members To Reject Deal
In a move that will likely exacerbate tensions between the two primary actors' unions in Hollywood, leaders of the Screen Actors Guild plan to ask members who also belong to the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists to vote against the recent deal negotiated between AFTRA representatives and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. According to the Hollywood Reporter SAG President Alan Rosenberg and Executive Director Doug Allen told top executives of Sony Pictures Monday that the guild plans to derail the AFTRA deal. Neither SAG, AFTRA or the AMPTP has commented on the report.

SAG "Solidarity?" Not With AFTRA
The Screen Actors Guild has scheduled what it is calling a "solidarity" rally at its Wilshire Boulevard headquarters in Los Angeles on Monday, but trade reports indicated today (Friday) that the rally will demonstrate no solidarity whatsoever with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists -- and in fact will denounce AFTRA's recent agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Daily Variety reported that representatives of Membership First, the activist group that now controls the union plan to call on SAG members who hold dual membership in AFTRA to vote against the deal when ratification ballots are sent out next week. The trade publication quoted a message sent by Michael Heister saying that "being physically present at this rally makes it known to AFTRA leadership and the moguls that actors absolutely will stand up for their rights, that we will not let our images be maligned for pennies, and we will not let the relevance of our unions be eviscerated under the cover of new media." Variety reported that little progress between SAG and the AMPTP was made on Thursday and that the two sides had agreed to take three days off and meet again on Monday. Meanwhile, a report from the Milken Institute released on Thursday said that the recent strike by the Writers Guild of America cost the state's economy $2.1 billion, with 37,700 workers losing their jobs.
OK, they have 22 days to work this out. They need to get off their butts and get busy.

Okay, so I just watched Paranoid Park. I had high hopes for this one because the trailer looked really interesting and it seems to have been received well at film festivals. Well... I didn't really like it much. In fact, I found it kinda boring. The one very graphic scene with the security guard was shocking and scary, but I felt the rest of the movie to be either annoying (lots of handheld camera movement--which I didn't mind in Cloverfield) or long-winded.
From her IMDb signature I can tell that Abbie found the movie mesmerizing. Me, not so much. But, as we all know, tastes differ.

More crap news about the SAG negotiations. You know, I used to love Alan Rosenberg as an actor, but he's really pissing me off lately as president of SAG. If his underhanded bullshit causes yet another Chris movie to get derailed because of a strike, I'll never be able to look at the little putz again...
SAG: Deal Unlikely By Month's End
Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg has conceded that a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is unlikely to be concluded by June 30, when the current contract expires. In an interview with Daily Variety, Rosenberg blamed AFTRA for the slow-going negotiations. "Our progress has really slowed down ever since AFTRA made its deal," he said. He added that no decision has been made about taking a strike vote but that it will be made "fairly soon." In any case, he said, "We can certainly work past the expiration date while we're still negotiating." On Wednesday SAG held a Town Hall meeting in Hollywood where members received fact sheets blasting the AFTRA deal. AFTRA later said in effect that the fact sheets misrepresented what was achieved. It said that it would hold is own informational meetings for members about the contract today (Thursday) and Monday.
Come on Alan, stop acting like a spoiled brat and make something happen!

A de facto strike? Oh, this is not good...
SAG And AMPTP In Open Warfare
The Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers each issued blistering statements about the other's negotiating tactics Thursday that suggested that the "de facto strike" that currently has stalled motion picture production in Hollywood will not be brought to an end soon. SAG's statement said that the union's leaders believe that "it is possible to complete negotiations and secure a fair deal before the expiration of the current agreement" on June 30. The statement was issued shortly after union president Alan Rosenberg remarked that he was skeptical that an agreement could be reached before that date. (Daily Variety reported that SAG's strategy may be to drag its feet in negotiations until July 7, the day when results of AFTRA's membership vote on a new contract are announced. SAG has authorized the expenditure of a reported $150,000 to "educate" AFTRA members about the perceived shortcomings of its deal with the AMPTP.) In its own statement, the AMPTP said, "Any effort by SAG to drag out these negotiations past June 30 would be a disservice to the people in this industry whose livelihoods are being put on hold. SAG's inability to close this deal has already put the industry into another de facto strike."

Offline
No, I'm right there with ya. I know he's trying to do what's best for the actors, but this is his first really major conflict and he's handling it ALL WRONG. He's going to have to cave eventually. Just wish he'd do it sooner rather than later.

See, Alan? Even your own people disagree with the way you're handling things...
SAG Members Divided Over Strike Talks
Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg has expressed frustration over dissension within his union over bargaining strategy with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. In an interview with Broadcasting & Cable, Rosenberg said that he wished the members of his union stood behind their negotiators the way the members of the Writers Guild of America did theirs. The WGA, he said, "didn't get the kind of resistance from their members that we get from ours." The dissension, he indicated, is the reason that the union leadership has not called for a strike authorization vote -- despite the fact that the current contract with the AMPTP expires in two weeks. Asked when he might decided to ask SAG members to authorize a strike, Rosenberg replied, "I really don't know. ... It depends on our assessment of whether we can get it or not. I think we'd get it." In fact, the AMPTP noted Friday that if a contract is not locked in by June 30, the current "de facto strike" will simply be extended with TV and movie producers delaying production on new films and television shows until an agreement is reached.
