Welcome back from me too! All our lost sheep are returning to the flock, it seems.

Welcome back, Paige!
Here's something I've never seen... a dog nursing a baby deer: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseacti … d=35471963

I especially like it when the kid at the end says, "What is it doing, Momma?"

Yeah, she does. And the deer looks kind of like it's... I almost strayed into adult territory. :embarrassed:

I was going to go to a concert tonight --- my favorite musician in a very intimate venue. But after another day of sitting here in my house sweating and being miserable, fighting with my freakin' mouse and giving up, wanting to break large objects with my bare hands, and getting a really bad headache for my troubles, I no longer have the desire to hang out in a smoke-filled room full of strangers. I think I'll take the money I scraped together for this show and go buy a new damn mouse instead. Days like yesterday and today, I HATE MY LIFE! And it's not even a week day.

Yeah, I was gonna go to the computer store, but I didn't even have time to drive there before it closed at 6, once I decided to go. Guess I'll have to go tomorrow. So that's another night with this stupid thing. Took some Advil and a cool shower. Need a big glass of ice water now.

My roommate is still in the hospital from the stroke almost a month ago. As far as I know he still has major trouble. Can't speak and still paralyzed on the right side.
I did find out that his hospital bill is at least $120,000. That's only for 2 weeks in the hospital. I could easily see the hospital bill being over $200,00 total.
He has insurance, but I think he has a 10% co-pay. Of course he's not working now and has no assets of any real value, so I don't know where they think he can pay that if they bill him for it.
I know that this has taught me to enjoy & cherish each day as if it's your last because something could happen the very next minute.

Absolutely. Well said, Illinois.
The father of my colleague who almost died from a misdiagnosed abscess on his spine is doing much better. He was just transferred to a special rehab facility last week. They don't know if he will make a full recovery, it looks like something is wrong with one of his eyes and they don't know what and whether it's temporary. But he is coherent and in good spirits and now starting with physiotherapy. He was in ICU for almost three months. There was one point about two months ago where he had to be rescucitated.
Luckily, in Germany our healthcare system doesn't normally do co-pay, so it's all being covered by mandatory health insurance. It's basically unheard of in Germany that you end up with lifetime debts because of medical treatment, which I consider a good thing. Private insurance can have co-pay rates, but only up to a certain level. Like you might have to pay up to 3000 EUR a year, but anything beyond that will be covered by the insurance. While a lot of people complain about our German health system, compared to others it's really not so bad.

Woohoo, I am back online!
I had an extremely exhausting weekend due to Meeting of the German Sturge-Weber Foundation and when I came home on Sunday night, my internet connection was completely gone. Thank God it's working again tonight and I didn't even have to call the Vodaphone hotline.
I hugged the Seeker!

My friend just sent me a video of my godson walking. He's two years old and had a stroke when he was six months... he walked all the way across their living room today, just grabbing the couch a few times for support. This is the basically first time he's walked more than three steps without falling on his face, so we're ridiculously happy now.

I know. I accidentally kinda told his soon-to-be stepdad when he called me... "hey, what's up?" "Ohmigod, Shawn! I can't believe Liam walked!" "... Liam what?" When I see him on Friday, he's getting lots of cookies.
Offline
Awww! You'd better start baking now. What kind does he like? Toll House?
Offline
I actually always have cookies here for him if he's hungry and wants sweets. He's a two year old boy, if it fits in his mouth he'll eat it. Shawn, however, is slightly more picky
