Re: Chris Top 10

A question about your lists: are they the best things he has done, no matter the size or quality of his part, or are you only counting things he has good parts in.  just wondering because *61 is a wonderful movie, but he has no real part in it(and I figure that is why it isn't on any list).  I have been rewarded by trusting your tastes before (graduation), and I want to understand your lists before I track a few of these down (for example I was surprised at how high Miracles was on the lists). In the end I can't imagine JOA not being #1.

ps shouldn't I be Unchallenged by now?

Re: Chris Top 10

I think these lists are sorted by a healthy mixture of the overall quality of the movie/TV show and Chris's performance in them. Of course Chris's screentime varies in them, but he has more or less important roles in all of them, e.g. in Huff, Miracles and Touched By An Angel, he has one of the main guest roles in the episodes he was in. If we look at your example, *61, that would not be listed here because Chris's part in it was just too small for it to be a favorite Chris movie.

You specifically mentioned Miracles, wondering why it rated so highly with most of us. I personally liked the rest of the show a lot as well (I actually bought the DVD box), but the episode with Chris is very intense and Chris does an amazing job. Probably his most tortured role ever. I love it for its intensity, and I will actually place it at the top of my list above JoA (but not by much).

I changed you to "Unchallenged", thanks for spotting that. smile

I just realized that I've never posted my Top 10.

1) Miracles - The Bone Scatterer
2) Joan of Arcadia
3) Graduation
4) American Gun
5) Huff
6) Alpha Dog
7) The Tic Code
8) The Girl Next Door
9) Judging Amy - The Beginning, The End And The Murky Middle
10) Remember The Daze and Just Friends (because I can't decide which one I like more)

However, if you like I can elaborate on some of them because not all of the movies/shows are equally good. American Gun, for instance, overall wasn't such a great movie. But Chris is just brilliant in it, so that's why I rated it quite highly. Looking at overall quality of the movie, I would rate Alpha Dog much higher than American Gun, but looking at Chris's performance, I liked him better in American Gun than I liked him in Alpha Dog. I don't know if that makes much sense, I hope it does. If I had to rate my top 10 according to overall quality of the movie/show, it would look as follows:

1) Joan of Arcadia
2) Alpha Dog
3) The Tic Code
4) Graduation
5) Miracles
6) Huff
7) The Girl Next Door
8) Judging Amy (I only know one or two episodes, though)
9) American Gun
10) Remember The Daze
11) Just Friends

And of course this is all very subjective because tastes can differ a lot.

Re: Chris Top 10

Rick, if you can find Chris in 61*, you win a cookie.  Many have tried, all have failed.  Although I'm told you can spot Sean Marquette if you look closely because he actually has a line.  I love this movie.  I've seen it 3 times, but I can't find any Marquettes in it.

And my list, for the record, is based on Chris's work in the role first, and overall quality second.

Far be it from me to question anyone's choices but you really like RTD better than Graduation, Mel?

Yeah. It's really hard to decide though so it's more of a tie. Seeing Chris and Sean as brothers in RTD was really cool and it makes me like it just a little bit more.

Re: Chris Top 10

Yeah, that much I agree with.  They need to do more stuff together.  Thing is, I can't stop thinking about Graduation.  Not only is it a better movie in my opinion, I'm really stuck on Carl.  He's just so damn lovable.  Second only to Adam in lovability, I think.  Kinda looks like I'm the only one who's obsessing over the movie, and that's fine.  I just found it to be probably the most satisfying thing we've seen from Chris in a while.

Re: Chris Top 10

One of these days, Illinois, you gotta just bite the bullet and watch Joan Of Arcadia.  It's his best work so far.  And see if you can find a cheap copy of American Gun.  He's brilliant in it, so heartbreaking.

I can't believe you still havent, seen JOA, Illinois. It's on TV sometimes and there's some clips of Chris on it on the site. If you ever buy it first without seeing it I know you won't be disappointed.

Re: Chris Top 10

So many new credits I thought it was worth bringing this up again, and I have never posted a list so here is mine.  It is based on my opinion of the overall film (although no. 1 would qualify as both the best project and Chris's best work)

9. The Girl Next Door

8. Education of Charlie Banks

7. Race to Witch Mountain

6. Alpha Dog

5. Fanboys

4. Infestation

3. Graduation

2. The Tic Code

1. Joan of Arcadia

Re: Chris Top 10

1. Alpha Dog - The whole movie amazes me.
2. Remember The Daze - I think it's the closest you'll ever get to teenage life in a movie.
3. The Girl Next Door - ummm his character makes the movie what it is.
4. Fanboys - he was just too f*cking cute in that movie. big_smile
5. The Education of Charlie Banks - his acting in it... WOW.<3 plus, he had a New York accent.
6. Just Friends - one of the first movies I saw of his. he had me at "I slapped a ham to it, like, an hour ago." wink
7. Infestation - he spoke spanish. the end.
8. Graduation - i have a weakness for punk rock boys, and chris playing one...<3
9. Joan of Arcadia - okay, what's NOT to love about him on that show? He's the quiet little romantic art geek.<3
10. ER - his face was so freaking cute, i just wanted to chew on it! [samantha james, much?] LOL and he pushed shia laBeouf down the stairs. thumbs up for that one! tongue

Now, how could I forget that?!?  You go, Chris!

Infestation - he spoke spanish. the end.

Yeah, I'm still plotzing over the Spanish.  I've wanted to hear that for years.

I prolly don't even need to say a word about how I feel about Adam by now.

Yes! He needs to do a movie where he beats him up or pushes him down another flight of stairs. Just for old times sake. I think it's funny how it's like Chris is out to get Shia in so many ways. I mean, he pretty much tortured him on Even Stevens, pushed him down the stairs on ER and then he snags himself Shia's tv girlfriend from Even Stevens way back then. Chris is amazing! LMAO!<333333

Oh, I know! I've been waiting for the whole spanish thing, too! I had to do like a double take when I heard him in Infestation! And lets not forget, Cooper made everyone rice and beans when they were at his dad's house. wink

Re: Chris Top 10

Not much. They show it on SyFy, but I'm sure you already knew that! LOL. I think they're still on the first season. The last episode I saw was urmm... I know Adam was still with Iris and whenever I saw them together, I cringed and wanted to throw up all over my shoes. Because its obvious that they look so insanely wrong together. UGH. So, about 11 or 12 episodes before that, I've seen too. Wow, that sounded confusing.
