From MTV.com
The last time Mike Myers starred in a comic film creation all his own, the entirely forgettable "Austin Powers in Goldmember," the flick opened to a stellar $73 million weekend at the box office. That was six years ago and as we just learned over the weekend, a lot can change in that kind of time.
"The Love Guru" opened on Friday to the kind of reviews usually reserved for movies starring Larry the Cable Guy, not to mention an embarrassing 4th-place finish. Perhaps no one sunk the knife deeper than A.O. Scott in "The New York Times" who called it, "an experience that makes you wonder if you will ever laugh again." Wonder if Myers turned and mugged for the camera after he read that one.
So this begs a few questions, the key one being…what the hell happened? Did Mike Myers suddenly become unfunny? Did our collective taste change? Is his new comic creation a little too familar (I'm going with this one)? Or is Justin Timberlake to blame?
Laugh all you want but the Timberlake curse seems to have some power to it? Eagerly awaited follow-up from the maker of "Donnie Darko"? That would be "Southland Tales," the film that spurred a Cannes audience to boo and boo and boo some more. The follow-up to the universally hailed "Hustle & Flow"? That'd be "Black Snake Moan," the project that tied Christina Ricci to a radiator. And now this!
I'm sorry, but this is the stupidest thing I've read in a while.
Justin was a co-star in all of these films. Besides The Love Guru and Shrek the Third, none of the films he's starred in opened on many screens. Southland Tales only opened on around 63 screens and the others I believe opened on much fewer than 2,000 screens. Funny that they left off Shrek the Third which made over 300 million domestically.
You could also say the same thing about Emile Hirsch. Not one of the films he's starred in has made more then 50 million domestically. In fact, you could say that for most young up-and-coming actors. Most of their films simply won't do well at the box-office because of many reason, but certainly not because of just one actor starring in the film is the sole reason for it's success or failure.

Also, what does it have to do with Justin's ability to act? They make it sound like everything he's gonna be in will suck (excuse me for reverting to IMDb jargon) because he's such a horrible actor. I thought he did a great job in both Shrek The Third and Alpha Dog. I haven't seen him in anything else, but I refuse to believe that just because Justin is gonna be in a movie, it will tank at the box office. He's got a huge fanbase too.
They're just looking at the money, and not at the dynamics around theatrical releases. Sometimes people just see what they wanna see. (And I would include myself in that.)

Yeah, that's just some goombah thinking he's funny.
Perhaps the movie failed because it was just a long series of lame, tasteless jokes. I was very turned off by the TV commercials. Most especially the one that had absolutely nothing in it but midget jokes aimed at Vern Troyer. Yes, Mike, he's a tiny man. Get the frig over it!!! It wasn't all that funny when you milked it for three Austin Powers movies in a row. We've heard it all before. I think Mike has truly run out of ideas. Next up? Austin Powers 4 --- because they always go to the fallback crutch when "new" things are not working.

also, I didn't even know Justin Timberlake was in Black Snake moan, or Southland Tales until I saw the movies. Simply put, the reason I didn't go see The Love Guru was, the trailers weren't funny.

Oh, that makes no sense at all! I say that if it's anyone's fault, it's Mike Meyers. It is his brainchild, after all? (I'm assuming there. It just screams of something he would [& has!] come up with.) I guess no one told the author that correlation does not imply causation. I'm not even really a fan of Timberlake's, but I'm deeply annoyed for him.

I love Justin Timberlake! He's a great solo singer, great in NSYNC, and he was amazing in "Alpha Dog"!! Reading that makes me really annoyed. He's a truly great person especially because of this quote about him said by Chris.

I was just looking if anyone posted anything about JT or Love guru. Because I just yesterday saw the Love guru and wanted to tell you how much I liked it. I think Mike Meyers was really good. Better than in Austin Powers. Austin Powers kinda annoyed me. I only watched those movies for Seth Green. But in this one i liked Mike.
I also wanted to mention I got my best laughs from watching Justin Timberlake.
I never read what the professional critics have to say. They've all become so thick-skinned a-holes they wouldn't see a good movie or a talented actor if one poked them in the eye. I've now seen JT in almost all of his movies and I can honestly say, I think he's getting better and better. Alpha dog was obviously his best work. In the Love Guru he showed he can be funny too. And laugh at him self.
And this is comming from a girl who never went crazy over his music. There's a couple of songs I might have liked but I don't dig the techno beats and he has a lot of those...

I haven't seen Love Guru yet, but Best Buy has it on sale for $15 next week, so I may buy it then.
I will say he is very funny in his appearances on SNL (Saturday Night Live). He does seem to have a natural talent for comedy, so I would hope that he does do more comedic roles in the future.
Here's a few eye candy shots that I found that some may enjoy.

Here are two shots of him filming scenes for his already filmed movie The Open Road with Jeff Bridges & Mary Steenburgen.

He looks pretty good in a baseball uni. Still kills me that Chris had to drop out of Calvin Marshall, after cultivating a baseball booty and everything.

JT was actually really funny in the Love guru. I am not a fan of his in general but he not the worst actor I have ever seen. I would have LOVED to have seen Chris in Calvin Marshall. I love the baseball body, nice strong thighs, and wicked ass mmmmmmm! Too bad!

Did anyone catch the SNL episode from last night?
Here are some caps I found on another message board.
I don't think too many male stars would dress up like that.
