Euro 2008

It's down to the last three games in the tournament and I wondered if anyone else on here is watching.  If so, who are you cheering for?  Personally, I'm all about Spain.  The night before their last game, I subconsciously used red and yellow rubber bands when I put my hair in pigtails.  XD  It's an obsession.

Re: Euro 2008

I don't watch, but since football (or should I say soccer?) is our biggest and most popular sport in Germany, you can't escape it. I usually hear on the radio in the morning who lost and who won. Also, if Germany's playing, you usually hear who scores a goal from the cheering screams or the boos in the neighborhood.

And since I'm German, I'm inherently rooting for Germany. Can't say I care that much, though. All I know is that tonight (Germany vs. Turkey) is gonna be madness, whatever happens. We have a lot of Turkish immigrants in Germany, and the Germans will stir up trouble if Turkey wins and the Turkish will stir up trouble if Germany wins. So I'm gonna make it a point to stay home tonight.

Re: Euro 2008

They lost signal 3 times here. It was awful. And Turkey sure put up a fight didn't they?

I've been rooting for the Netherlands and Germany. But I guess now I'm only rooting for Germany.

Re: Euro 2008

The signal loss was worldwide. They had a short curcuit in Vienna or something. I was almost dying in front of the TV, I swear!

I wished for Germany vs Netherlands for the final, and I was sad when the Netherlands lost. But of course I am HAPPY that Germany has reached the final. I can't wait for Sunday! big_smile

Re: Euro 2008

I think everyone was dying. When they said Klose had scored I was so upset that I had missed it. But thankfully they have replays.

I'm so glad that Germany has made a comeback.

Re: Euro 2008

Sounds like it was a good game!  I missed it and will have to miss tomorrow's game, too. sad  I'm going to praypraypray that Villa can manage another hat trick because it would just be obscenely amazing.  Seriously, I would orgasm.  He is the love of my life.  *dork*

Re: Euro 2008

Is that the guy in your av, Hide?  I confess ignorance about soccer for the most part.  I was into it as a kid, but I don't follow it anymore.

Yep, that's him!  I figured it'd be more appropriate to use a photo of Chris, but I didn't have any.  Oh, well.  At least this makes me more recognizable.  ha.

Re: Euro 2008

We have tons of Chris avatars right here: http://www.chris-marquette.com/forum/vi … .php?id=80

But of course it's totally up to you whether to keep using Villa as your avatar or change it to Chris. Whatever you like looking at more when you come here. smile

Re: Euro 2008

Yeah, there's also a link in that thread to another site with a bunch more Chris avs, if you're so inclined.  But like TeeJay said, you can have anything you want.  Doesn't have to be Chris.

Re: Euro 2008

I LOVE Spanish football and Villa is such a joy to watch.  I get mesmerized.  *fangirl*  I'm especially happy about the win because maybe now, people will stop talking about the national team like they're losers/can't follow through.  I'm sad for Germany, but I couldn't handle those same comments again, if Spain had lost.

Thanks for the link, Teejay!  I looked for them once before, but clearly didn't look hard enough.  haha.

Re: Euro 2008

Pffft, Spain. They only hit the goal once against us. Haha. Look at Croatia, they at least scored two goals.

I was sad when we lost, but I accepted it. I don't know what was going on with our boys. They were so LAME!!! At the end, the only one I really felt sorry for was Jens Lehmann. He would have deserved it, because he said this was his last European Championship and it's not sure that he goes to South Africa. I will miss him.

Re: Euro 2008

lol.  That's because Villa Maravilla couldn't play!  Striker extraordinaire!

Actually, I'm such a bad fan that as the minutes winded down, I was kinda hoping that Germany would put one through.  /fickle?
