Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

I love his scream in "Just Friends". Chris's character Mike is the best part of the movie.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Chris had a huge jump on IMDb's STARMeter today --- 96 points, biggest I've ever seen.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Wonder what's going on behind the scenes. He wouldn't go up 96% for no obvious reason, would he? I thought maybe something happened, a new project, trailer for Infestation, a release date for Fanboys or Charlie Banks... I can't find anything online that would indicate anything along those lines, so I guess something is going on that we're not aware of. Guess we'll see.

So many Chris-adjacent people and no Chris.  He's more talented than this whole bunch mashed together.  Makes me sick...

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Have you guys seen the trailer for The Whackness?  I mention it because the role of the troubled teenage guy in the movie is something that Chris was in talks to play at one time.  So if you ever see it, you can imagine how much better he would've been in the role that some dude I never heard of eventually landed.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Yeah, when I saw Josh Peck in there it kinda confused me... he's a Nick kid, grew up doing sketch comedy with Amanda Bynes and eventually moved onto his own sitcom.  I like him but can't really see Josh in this role because it's obviously much more serious than anything he's ever done, but I'm not gonna count him out just yet wink.  I would have really loved to see Chris instead of Josh, I'm really interested in it so hopefully Josh can be a dramatic actor and can pull this off.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Hey, I never said he was bad.  I don't know the kid.  But as we all know here, nobody could've played that better than Chris.  wink

Which could be said of everything he has ever been in serious contention for.  At the time, we were a little wigged out that he might work with an Olsen twin, but I didn't know Ben Kingsley was in it and that fact alone makes it much more interesting to me.  Though I really don't wanna see Mary Kate lock lips with Sir Ben.  yikes

It does sound like a really cool movie, doesn't it?  And Mary Kate was actually very good on Weeds last season.  smile

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

I know you aren't saying he's bad, Deb, but there's a chance he might just not be able to pull this off and I really would much rather see Chris in this role.    I've just never seen Josh in a serious/dramatic role and he doesn't seem as versatile as Chris is, since he was nine he's always been type-cast as the dorky, goofy, chubby kid.  And when he lost the weight he became dorky, goofy, skinny kid.  It's sad because he really, truly is funny and a good actor but the scripts from his show are written for 13 year olds and they won't let him be anyone but a total goofball.

I'm glad he's trying to break out, but he probably shouldn't have taken such a big jump so quickly.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

To me it's sad that Chris didn't get it because working with Ben Kingsley would've been one of those dream things for him.  I doubt this kid even had a clue who he is before someone explained it to him.

Josh Peck is really dramatic in "Mean Creek". It's a great movie and he's a good actor but Chris is the best ever!!

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Whoa, wait.  Did he play George in Mean Creek?  I knew that kid was from a Nick show, but I never saw it.  The kid I saw in the clips for The Whackness is THAT guy?  He looks really different.  And you're right, he was terrific in Mean Creek.

I never saw Mean Creek, but I looked it up.  I'm still a little amazed at how much weight he's lost in the last couple years.  He looks great, doesn't he?

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

FYI the starmeter primarily based on hits on IMDB pages.  So, the rise could be based on a combination of a few things, (Just friends premeriering on that cable channel, they advertised it alot.  Maybe Disney channel had something about Witch Mountain) just a couple of things like that might have bumped up his rating.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

Yeah, Josh impressed the hell out of me in Mean Creek. Before I had only thought of him as the little chubby Nickelodeon boy whose voice was higher than mine. Olivia Thirlby is pretty freakin' talented too, so I'm wicked excited to see this one. Chris would have been amazing in it, obviously, but I think Josh will definitely pull it off.

Re: Miscellaneous Stuff

I got inspired today and put together something like a real demo reel of Chris's best work. Scenes from various recent projects that I think reflect his work and what he's capable of. You can now download it from our server right here, it's about 13 minutes long. Please note that it's not Chris's official demo reel. I'd love to know how that one actually compares to mine, to be honest. smile

::: large version (~50 MB)
::: small version (~25 MB)
