Re: Misc Stuff

It is a crazy idea, but I do love someone pointing out that the increasing salaries of the stars are being taken out of the pockets of other people working on the movies.  Believe me, it isn't just the character actors who are getting paid less to cover the higher salaries of the stars.

Re: Misc Stuff

Absolutely.  I just don't know that a form of communism is the way to solve the problem.  But bless his heart for suggesting it.  At least someone's trying to think of a way out of the current mess.  Another work stoppage benefits no one.

Just one of the many stupid things they've done roll.  They shouldn't be allowed to make movies.  It's a freaking music network.

It is?  Funny, I don't recall it being a music network for at least the last 15 years.  I thought it was a shit reality show network.

Re: Misc Stuff

Exactly.  Music has nothing to do with it anymore.  And the little music they do play is either idiotic rap or the Jonas brothers.   But then we are talking about the people who tried to make Britney Spears an actress and had originally written Twilight with Bella being a slutty track star who gets eaten at the end.  By Edward.   roll:doh:

They don't deserve the power they have.

Nope.  And anyone who wants to see a new version of Rocky Horror can go see a midnight show somewhere.  Nobody could ever fill Tim Curry's platform shoes.

Why is there too many remakes these days of the wrong things. I love Rocky Horror and it's terrible hearing about a remake of it.

Re: Misc Stuff

Some things cannot be remade.  Wonder how they'll cast this thing?  Mylie Cyrus as Janet.  Who's some boring generic guy who could play Brad?  Lindsay Lohan as Magenta.  Cillian Murphy as Frank-N-Furter.  Hell, I don't know.  It's going to be very, very weird.

Re: Misc Stuff

Totally depends on the casting.  If they put a bunch of these lame little teeny bopper stars in it, I will never see it.  Ever.  If the casting is at least remotely interesting, I'll give it a chance.  A very minimal chance.  If it even smells a tiny bit rank, bam!  It's history.

Her name is actually Miley. I think it's great you didn't spell her name right though, Deb. She's a nobody to me with no real talent. Lindsay is even worse I hate her more than any other celeb. They are both horrible romodels to kids nowadays.

Re: Misc Stuff

I'm such a cry-baby when it comes to movies. But when I watched Heath Ledger's movie Candy on July 22 (it seemed the right day to watch it because this day marks the 6 month anniversary of his death) I did not cry at all. I mean I didn't even cry when they lost their baby (sorry if I spoiled anyone here), which is a really sad moment of course, and I normally ALWAYS cry if something like that happens. That was very strange.

Re: Misc Stuff

Looky there, a couple of Chris co-stars in the group that's opposing SAG's current (nutbag) leadership...

Dissident Slate To Oppose SAG Leaders

Accusing the current leadership of the Screen Actors Guild of fumbling negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, a coalition of actors has been formed to offer a slate of candidates to challenge the leaders in elections set for September 18. The group, which calls itself Unite for Strength, is seeking to fill 11 seats on the national board of SAG and 22 alternate seats (those who sit in for board members when they are working). Among the candidates are Adam Arkin, Kate Walsh, Amy Brenneman, Marcia Wallace, Ned Vaughn and Doug Savant. Speaking for the challengers, Vaughn, a veteran character actor, said in a statement, "We think the current leadership has put SAG on a dangerous path. ... We can no longer afford leaders who sow division." Arkin added, "I'm concerned for future negotiations if we don't change the leadership that has brought us to this point." Nevertheless, the group has thus far not attracted the support of a single major star. As one person commented on Nikki Finke's Dateline Hollywood Daily blog, "When the actors who appear on the covers of national magazines speak up, then I think SAG members will listen."

Re: Misc Stuff

Sally Field stands on the table with a sign...

Sally Field Endorses SAG Dissidents

Sally Field, who won an Oscar for portraying a textile union activist in the movie Norma Rae, has become the first major star to endorse the dissident slate challenging the current leadership of the Screen Actors Guild. In a statement on Thursday, Field urged guild members to vote for the Unite for Strength slate in September's board elections to "end the senseless war with AFTRA and start building a united front of actors." The union's national board is set to meet on Saturday. Although some reports had suggested that the board might agree to submit the studios' "final offer" to the membership for a vote, Daily Variety said today that such action was "unlikely."

Re: Misc Stuff

Another vote-down.  Crap.  The battle rages on.  Indefinitely.

SAG Board Votes To Reject AMPTP's Final Offer

The current standoff between the Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers seemed certain to continue indefinitely as the union's board on Saturday unanimously voted to reject the AMPTP's "final offer." The AMPTP responded that it has no intention of altering the offer and pointed out that SAG members are the only ones in the industry who are not receiving the additional pay raises and benefits that it agreed to pay other union members. The AMPTP has placed a counter on its website displaying the amount of lost wages and residuals to SAG members sine the stalemate began. SAG disputes the figures.

Re: Misc Stuff

Great, now even the dissidents are balking at the AMPTP deal.  We may never get this resolved.

SAG Dissidents Make Show Of Unity

The group of Screen Actors Guild dissidents who announced that they will challenge the current leadership of the union said Tuesday that it does not approve the take-it-or-leave-it offer submitted by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. In a statement, the Unite for Strength leaders said, "We believe SAG needs new leadership, but we also agree with SAG's negotiators that actors need real gains from a new contract." In particular, the group condemned the AMPTP's proposal to allow productions costing less than $15,000 a minute to use non-union talent so long as no covered union members are involved. It also announced its support of other benefits being sought by SAG negotiators.
