A Brief History Of The Dorquettes

Deb said we need to have a thread for this, to explain to all the newbies what the Dorquettes are and why it is desirable to become one. So, Deb, go ahead and explain away. smile

Re: A Brief History Of The Dorquettes

Well, gee, that's not difficult to do or anything...

Hmmm, let's see.  First, a definition is in order:

Dorquette - noun - (origin - Versatile Website) - 1) one who greatly admires the talents of actor Christopher Marquette, or 2) one who obsesses over said actor, or 3) us.

Earning the title Dorquette is very easy.  All you have to do express a serious interest in CM.

Also, we have merchandise.  Mainly the infamous Dorquette Drool Towel, to be used when watching any of Chris's fine work, especially things in which he is particularly adorable.  Example: the first ep of Huff that he appeared in, Sweet Release.

TeeJay, I'll let you explain more about the merchandise and maybe post an image.

So here's some of our merchandise.

The Dorquette Drool Towel:

The Dorquette t-shirt:

(And that's actually the URL of Melissa's old site, I made the t-shirt before we opened our own site.)

And then we have the "Lion Shirt" that Adam wore in a couple of JoA eps in the first season, which we recreated:

Did I forget anything?

Oh, and just for reference, here's the t-shirt that Adam wore:

And here's Adam Rove in Anonymous:

Re: A Brief History Of The Dorquettes

Oh, and maybe we should add that you can also become something of an Ultimate Dorquette. As Ultimate Dorquette, you would do such completely crazy things like sewing eyebrows onto your donkey beanie keychain that you've named Adam because he didn't have eyebrows when you got him. You would also pour time you don't really have into making a website about a certain Mr. Marquette to honor him and his work. You would have a Drool Collage wallpaper with pictures of him as your desktop background and something similar as your cell phone wallpaper. You would have a picture of him as Jedi Knight on the wall behind your office desk because he looks so contemplative on it. And you would feel somewhat weird about all of that because you're a little too old for that kind of thing.

And this is not to say that any of us is actually an Ultimate Dorquette. La la la... <whistles innocently> smile

You have still forgotten one thing. You are also an Ultimate Dorquette when you go to the H&M store and buy similar pajama pants like the one he wears in Just Friends. I know persons on this board who did it. wink

Or you're constantly on the lookout for hoodies in Adamy colors like brown, burgundy, forest green, black, etc.

Re: A Brief History Of The Dorquettes

Yes, sure, you gotta have some Adam-like hoodies. I have a brown and a black one, but I have yet to find a burgundy one.

Oh, here's something from another bout of craziness. First of all, I named my car Jane. Why? Because it's light blue metallic in color and it's almost the same color that Joan's raincoat in Common Thread has. Wait, I'll find you a picture. Hm, looks silver metallic in the pictures, but I swear she's light blue. (She's a Peugeot 206, born in 2002, by the way.)

TinaInJane1.jpg

Jane.jpg

And every Jane needs an Adam, so here's my Adam:

AdamKeychain_before.jpg

But something vital was missing for this donkey (I should mention that I have a thing for donkeys, we once owned a real live one) to deserve the name of Adam, so I fixed it. Can you notice?

AdamKeychain_after.jpg

And last but not least, here's Tina and Anne in their Mike-like pajama pants:

TinaAnnePants.jpg

Now, please go and call the men in the white coats to bring the jacket with the leather straps on the sleeves.

Of course it's obvious how you altered your Adam.  Do I even need to say it?  It rhymes with pie-cows.  Kind of.

Re: A Brief History Of The Dorquettes

Oh yeah, and there's the rings.  I've been looking for rings like Chris's forever. Before I started looking, they were everywhere. Now, I can't find what I want.  I do have one ring that's similar to his that I can wear on either forefinger or thumb.  But I still don't have the ones I want.  And now he doesn't seem to be wearing them anymore.  Oh well.  Somehow, that doesn't make me want them any less.

Ok, here is it.

My Chris Time Zone Clock with the "Adam guckt so" picture. It's currently showing L.A. time again, because I don't know for sure in which time zone he is at the moment.
Oh God, I'm insane, right? Where are the guys with the strait jacket? LOL
