Prison Break

I can't believe we don't have a thread yet for this. Anyone other than Deb and me watching it?

This thread will contain spoilers for anything up to the most current episode having aired in the US. If you are a spoiler-phobe, you better not read any further. smile

I had heard about the show before I actually started watching it. Heard only good things about it. At some point, I was so curious that I started watching. I think I watched season one pretty much all the way through in maybe two weeks. For some reason in the middle of season two I stopped for a while. I can't even really say what made me stop watching. Probably a combination of having tons of other shows to keep track of and the plot not really capturing my interest enough to keep watching at that moment.

I had the DVDs lying around for maybe a year now. And when Deb and I started talking about it again (mainly because season four just started airing), I thought I'd give it another try. That was maybe two weeks ago. Or less? I don't now. What I do know is that once I got back in the game, I couldn't stop watching. I'm all caught up now. I think I got through season three in only a few days.

And of course I'm curious how season four is gonna pan out. Can I make an educated guess? Brain tumor. Ugh. I hope not. They can't be that predictable, can they?

And.... who could Chris play if he were to get a guest spot on the show? Would we want him as a good guy or a bad guy? He could be one of the Company's evil jerks. Or someone the gang enlists for help. I'm not sure. I'd love to see him being really evil for a change, I think, even though I'd probably then hate his character with a passion.

Re: Prison Break

Cold-blooded and rather sadistic Company assassin.  A baby Paul Kellerman.  Which dovetails nicely into my assertion that Chris would rock (heh, no pun intended) as Cooper Freedman in Private Practice if he was 40ish right now.

Re: Prison Break

Here's a little bit of trivia that I think it is pretty cool. Spoilers for seasons 3 and 4 to follow!

Those people who have followed the show will know that the character of Sara "died" at the beginning of season 3. Or at least that's what we all thought, Michael and Lincoln included. The writers went that route because the actress, Sarah Wayne Callies was pregnant at the time. Originally, it seems like they planned to kill her off for good, but the fans hated Sara's leaving the show so much that campaigns sprang to life to save Sara Tancredi. And they were successful, because at the beginning of season 4 we find out that Sara wasn't killed but that she managed to flee and that the severed head that Lincoln saw in the dark parking garage was someone's else's head.

And thus the fans were happy, me included. Getting rid of her character would have been a great loss for the show. In an interview with Sarah Wayne Callies, she said that she's very grateful that the fans got her her job back and thanked them for it. I thought that was very sweet.

More power to the fans!

Some more trivia: Chris's co-star Shannon Lucio was in this week's episode. In a very "busty" role. A real headturner for the guys. smile

And here's my questions of the week:

1) Will my predictions for this season come true? I predict that Michael has a life-threatening brain tumor (hence the nosebleeds and headaches) and that he won't have time to go to hospital for a check-up. By the end of the season he'll be in mortal peril, but he'll be rushed to the hospital in the season finale and over the summer hiatus we won't know whether he'll live or die. The season 5 premiere will reveal they treated him with some kind of super-new miracle drug and he'll be right as rain again.

2) When will we see Michael's arms and chest exposed for the first time, only to find out they're spotless and free of any sign of tattoos and scars?

3) Will we ever see an episode that isn't filled with FBI or government conspiracy clichés? But, hey, I guess that's part of the fun of this show, isn't it?

Re: Prison Break

i did watch season 1 and 2 . i loved season 1 and watched season 2 just because i loved the first one. and by the 4th episode of season 3 i gave up. it was getting too pointless. even if i like wentwoth miller, ever since i saw him in a series i am ashamed to admit i watch only because of  him and the other male co-star ( it was something with talking dinosaurs  :embarrassed: yes, i know i am lame  ) i could not watch prison break anymore. it just looked too much like something that had an idea at the beginning and then continued with something else only because it was successful and made money.

but i do hope to see wentworth in something more worthy tongue !!!

Re: Prison Break

It's funny, Irina, because a lot of people felt the same way and hated seaosn 3. Deb didn't like it much and my friend Steff also gave up on the show in season 3. It's strange, because I didn't really think season 3 was so bad. Sure, Sona (the Panamanian prison) was filthy and cruel, but somehow I didn't mind so much. It only had 13 episodes anyway.

You know, if you decide to go back and make it throught season 3, I think you'll find you'll like season 4 much better. The guys are "free" (or as free as they'll get) and everyone's back together (who's still alive, that is). They're fighting towards a common goal and the Michael/Sara shippers are also getting their share of fluff. I think I'm going to like season 4 a lot.

But I can also see your point. What they're doing now still ties in with what went on in season 1, but it's really a different show now. It's not about breaking out of prison anymore.

What other male co-star do you mean? Dominic Purcell (Lincoln)?

Re: Prison Break

LOL! It's really funny you would say that because I watched this interview clip with Wentworth and Sarah the other day where Wentworth was telling us how on the set they tried to come up with all these ridiculous names what they might call the show. Like, Prison Break: Atlantis or Prison Break: Red Planet. smile

Re: Prison Break

I was trying to figure out what he was using.  Mine new one is similar too.  I like my buttons better.  They're separate and easy to find in the dark.  I also love that mine has a rubberized feel around the rim so that when you close it, it doesn't feel like you're slamming it shut.  Kinda makes it feel heavy duty somehow.

Of course I can't say for sure, but the phone he was using in episode 4x04 looked exactly like mine. You know, the scene at the end where he calls Sara.

Re: Prison Break

tee jay, i was talking about the male co-star from the dinosaur series. i looked it up on imdb because i did not remembered the name well. it was a series called " dinotopia " co-staring wentworth miller and a guy called Tyron Leitso ( the other good looking guy in my opinion ).  the series is like for little children but the guys were so hot i had to watch it. :embarrassed:

as far as dominic purcell , i really don't like him. i think his acting skills are as good as a the ones of an elephant. plus it is so funny that his name translated in romanian means piglet ( purcel = piglet ).

Re: Prison Break

LOL. I don't think Dominic's so bad. I don't know, maybe it's just the role that doesn't leave much room for awesome acting. I like all the actors on this show. Robert Knepper is so wonderfully despicable as T-Bag. I've heard people say that Michael and Sara (Wentworth and Sarah) have no chemistry whatsover. I wholeheartedly disagree. But, well, I'm not gonna convince anyone to like this show or its actors. Either you do or you don't. smile

Re: Prison Break

I think everyone's great on the show too.  I love Rob Knepper.  Been a fan since the 80's.  And I love William Fitchner too, ever since Contact in 1997.  Amuary Nolasco has really won me over too.  Plus I think he's hot.

Re: Prison Break

i love Rob Knepper too. i have not seen him in anything else but he is awesome in prison break. i think he was the best part of the show. the acting and also the way the character is scripted are great.

i don't think that sara and michael have no chemistry , i think the way the relationship was scripted was bad. it's not the actors it's the script. plus killing her and saying she wasn't really killed reminded me too much about dallas tongue  ( i hope you know what i mean. it's this very old show ). and unfortunately i dislike in series when the life of the actors interferes with the life of the show. i mean i understood that sara had to go because she was pregnant.

anyway i can rewatch season 1 anytime

Yes, I know Dallas. Was a huge hit when I was a kid. Can't say I ever watched it, but I know what you're talking about. The dream thing, right? It's infamous.

Re: Prison Break

I did a little "research", Michael Scofield is indeed using the same phone model I have. In the US the model number is 6263, here in Germany it's 6267. Don't ask me why they have different numbers, but it's the same phone. Take a look:

PB_NokiaCell_01.jpg

PB_NokiaCell_02.jpg

PB_NokiaCell_03.jpg

PB_NokiaCell_04.jpg

PB_NokiaCell_05.jpg

I still think this is totally cool since it's not one of those models that everyone has. Or at least I think so. I don't know anyone else who has the same phone. But then again, these days there's so many different ones out there. And more and more people use a Blackberry or Treo-like phone these days.
