Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

As posted earlier, I was present at Opening Night, Thursday, September 18, for the West Coast Premiere of Stephen Karam's controversial play Speech & Debate, starring three of America's finest young indie film actors together onstage -- Michael Welch, Mae Whitman, and Aaron Himelstein.

I also returned the following evening for an encore. Under the direction of Daniel Henning, performances are Thursdays through Sundays at The Blank Theatre in West Hollywood.

I highly recommend taking advantage of this rare opportunity while you can. Fortunately, for those unable to make the trip (or for those who have and enjoyed it as much as I did), all of America will have the chance to see this play soon, albeit in a slightly different form.
I was told after the Opening Night show that Overture Films has picked up the rights to turn Speech & Debate into a movie.

As promised, here are some pictures I shot at the Opening Night afterparty:

P.S. Look for another friend in here.

Sweet! Thanks, Larry. The blond girl is Ryanne, right? I think I have to get used to the idea of Michael having dark hair.

While we're talking about Chris's co-starts, Kevin Rahm (Dana Tuchman on JoA) was on this week's new Without a Trace.

ROFLMAO That made my day. lol

They actually had to dye his hair over and over again to get it the right color. He finally gave up and Marissa did it. The reason it looks that way is a combination of 2 things:

1) It gets washed out under the stage lights and is MUCH lighter -- it actually looks more brown from the audience.

2) He is supposed to have previously bleached his hair blonde and it's supposed to be brown with some remnants of his former bleach job. His online nickname is "blonde boi" (not a spoiler -- you find that out literally in the first 5 seconds of the play).

So it has to look like someone with brown hair who had previously colored it blonde and is now letting it go back to its original color.

The end result is a very odd looking black dye job. Very peculiar-looking up close.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

ITEM 1:

Two weeks ago, we posted a video featuring Michael on ways to save the environment. He has been involved with the charitable organization Kids With A Cause since 1999 and created a public service announcement to help show kids how they can help better their world. That video became an overnight sensation so he has sent us a followup.

Each year Kids With A Cause determines recipient youth organizations that will benefit from their programs and tries, when possible, to extend their support beyond the Los Angeles area. "We are always willing and ready to lend a hand to children in need anywhere, if travel arrangements can be sponsored," founder Linda Finnegan told us. "Kids With A Cause creates the program, brings the necessary supplies and materials and delivers positive and influential messages from our celebrity youth Members & Ambassadors."

So here is another exclusive video of actor Michael Welch showing kids some ways they can play a part in helping to save the world around them.

http://www.pronetworks.org/forum/story103861.html

==================

ITEM 2

Michael will be appearing live at Borders in Westwood for a Twilight podcast the night before the premiere.

He will be part of a Q&A session on the show and will sign autographs afterwards.

Twilight Lexicon has all the details:

Great. I love Michael J.Fox and I think it's great how he deals with the sickness and how he recruits other people. big_smile

I could totally hear Ryan's voice saying those things while I was reading. lol Weird. I quess it's because I've seen so many of his movies the past year and in some of them he's doing a lot of talking and narrating too. I loved the Definately, maybe-movie. big_smile

I can totally remember every damn scene. I've watched it too many times. lol
My brother has the DVDbox with all three movies. I borrowed it from him and didn't give it back for a year... We live so far apart and didn't want to send it by mail.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

These boards went suddenly very quiet...

I just saw the trailer for Dandelion. It's been a while since I last checked Vincent Kartheiser's Imdb page. Last I saw it there still wasn't much info about the Dandelion and seemed like he didn't have much going on. Now there was lots of new stuff. I didn't even know that he was in a new series.

Anyone seen Dandelion or the Mad men? Are they any good? The trailer for the movie looked good.:D

I can only speak for myself, but I think we were all pretty busy this weekend. And I'm back to work now, so I'm even more busy now. I'm trying very hard to get everything ready for the website, like the audio interviews, our trip report, the JoA article we wanna write, the questions we wanna send Mike, Aaron and Amber, the Fanboys review I wanna write, etc. Such a lot still to do and so little time. neutral

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I've seen a couple of eps of Mad Men, Maria.  It's decent and I love VK, but it's kinda hard to stay interested since I haven't seen it from the beginning and don't know the characters very well.  Everyone who does watch it says it's great though.  Don't know anything about Dandelion, will have to look into it.
