Re: Randomness

umm.. random, huh?  um.... WARNING: a moodflow. This might ramble...

How's your weather? big_smile I really want to know.. who to be jelous of! lol
Here's a link: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin … ery=Tornio
Here in northern Finland it's darn cold. We are nearing the negatives numbers on the Celciusgrid. Today it's about 3degrees celsius. I quess that's about 38F? It looks very depressing outside right now. All cloudy and and grey when I look up. Very colourful when I look down: all the trees have stripped down! lol I love the autumn colours. Especially the huge leafs my Maple tree drops.
I'll bet this weekend my JTT is saying that we HAVE TO take all that colourful stuff off the ground. Then it'll look even more depressing outside. The snow won't come 'till november anyway...

I so don't want to go out to the cold but I have to go run some erronds.  Shopping groceries. A present for a christening. I'm a Godmother again. big_smile My third Godson. Loving it. Not that me or any of my friends are really commited to religion. Majority of Fins are ev.lut. Most of us only go to church like in weddings and funerals. But I do believe in God in my own silent way. I just don't want to create any pressure about it to my self or anyone else... My oldest friend is a Jehova's Withness. That can be quite pressuring at times. But in time we've created this silent agreement that non of us is telling the other in what to believe. big_smile

Oops. I told you I'd ramble. Sorry. :embarrassed:

Re: Randomness

In LA right now, it's H.O.T.  Hello, it's frigging October.  It shouldn't be over 90 degrees here.  I've been here around this time of the year twice and it was not this hot.  It's not even like this in Hotlanta!  It was like 54 when I left home yesterday, and 95 when I got to LA.

That is hot. And it's not getting any easier for you if this is correct. hmm

I think I'd love it if I could live somewhere where it's about 70F around the year... :silly:

Re: Randomness

But is it humid?

I hate humidity. It just makes it feel hotter and icky.

I also hate sunny days. When I'm out in the sun in the summer it makes it feel like it's about 10 to 15 degrees hotter and then plus the humidity. I just loathe summer.

Today's high here will be 61 degrees. Which I just really like. It's not too hot and it's not so cold that I need a coat.

Thanks for the weather update, Maria!  TeeJay wanted me to check on it last night, but I was tired I forgot.  We're off to San Francisco today.  Looks like rain up there.  Oh well.  It'll still be fun.  smile

Re: Randomness

Yeah!!

Got my car fixed today.

$65 for the tow and $290 for the repair.

Plus before this was $17 for the starter relay and $85 for a new battery.

So for a grand total of $457.00 over the past 8 days.

But I'm so happy that the car is running again.

Oh... CARS! Pain in the butt but nice to have.. I just got my licence on october 18th last year.

Lately I've been driving my JTT nuts over telling him things that don't feel right to me in the car. He's so macho about this stuff he doesn't wan't to listen. So last week I took the car to a gas station and asked the guy there to help me check out the air pressure on the tires (because I 'd told JTT for a month that they weren't right). The guy said one of the tires were dangerously empty. He put some air in there. JTT just had to complaine ofcourse. "he put too much in that one, too little on the other one". MEN! lol But then he too had to admit the tires didn't look right. The one that was almost empty, is very worn out. So we really need some new summer tires and it will cost us like 500 euros, JTT says.We don't have that money right now. I'm so freaked out to go driving with the kids. Now I'm thinking JTT doesn't want to buy those new tires this fall since soon it will be the time when we an change the winter tires... I swear, sometimes JTT is so darn macho with the car stuff I just want to slap him! I know the car stuff is his specialty (he works fixing cranes, he's an engineer) but he never has the energy to look at out own car. And he never wants to tell me stuff about the car. He doesn't even like it when I get gas. He thinks I'm gonna mess it up. I did it once on my road trip to my home town and I did nothing wrong. I so hate be the Jane (to my Tarzan) in this relationship... Freaking caveman!

Re: Randomness

Around here you need a car. Everything is miles away.

You brought up tires. It's very important to keep your tires properly inflated. If it goes completely flat you could really damage the rims and perhaps get into an accident.

Does the tires lose air slowly or quickly?

It could be the seal, the valve stem or perhaps something is in the tire like a nail. They do sell the fix a flat stuff that you could put into the tire. I did that on my back tire which was losing air slowly and it fixed the problem.

I had to buy 2 tires for my car about a month ago. A brand new one would have cost $87 installed. I found a place that would install 2 used tires for $85 total. Did that.

I don't know the weather conditions in Finland, but I would assume that they have all weather tires available. Couldn't you buy those?

My roommate is a guy and I swear I have never seen him even open the hood to check the fluids at all. He always takes his car in for everything.

I watched them put the starter in. It took them about 10 minutes to do and charged me $100 for labor. I could have done it myself, but don't have the place to do it. Couldn't do it while the car is parked on the street.

Re: Randomness

-sounds like the place where I grew up. Small town middle of Lapland...

Does the tires lose air slowly or quickly?

- Two of them are in good shape. The left one on the back looses air pretty slowly. The right one in the front has started to loose more quickly. I tried asking JTT why can't we just buy one new tire and maybe fix the other one, but he said we should buy all new. I kinda get the idea. I think we've had the same tires for five years.

There's a law in Finland when it's legal to use winter tires because of the tacks can damage the road. I know there's these other tires that could be used around the year but.. you quessed it?... JTT has something against them. He says the current ones are better. I have a hunch that he just thinks they're good enough. He's a little cheap about some purchases. But I really don't like it when he does it with the car. Feels like he's gambling with our lives. neutral He keeps telling me that if we had a warm garrage he would do lots of things to the car. I'm not buying that one. He's always so stressful and tired.  know that's the real reason.

Re: Randomness

He's not being charged in the way that he'll go to trial and possibly get sent to jail.  He needs to pay a butt load of fines, which he will go to jail for if he doesn't pay.  The fines are for causing an accidental death and reckless endangerment to a minor.
