Re: Randomness

That's horrible enough piled on top of losing the one you love.  It's just so tragic all the way around.

Yeah, I know.  I was scared he wouldn't make it through the night when he got the citations.  He's trying to get a good lawyer, because he's insisting he never saw the truck that hit them and it must have been speeding but the police wouldn't listen to him.  He's gonna fight it until it's over... whenever that is.

Re: Randomness

Hey, I've got free piece of parenting advice to you all... Just incase some of you get a serious case of momentary insanity and deside to have kids... big_smile Don't get me wrong. Ofcourse they are adorable and loveable and parenting is very rewarding and so on. But there's always moments when I feel like I want to bang my head against a wall.. Like today. We just got back home from downtown. There was a trade fair at the marketplace...

Don't EVER EVER EVER leave the house with kids when you're hungry and tired. Especially to a place like that. And with kids like mine. Three little wild childs..They are exactly like the Scavo kids in Desperate housewifes. It really was the hunger that got me on the extremely annoyed state of mind. And the serious lack of parking space in this town that forces people to park and drive like idiots. I was planning to go to bookstore too (buy Twilight and some paper) and get me some chinese food but I couldn't find a parking space anywhere. And the kids started playing with their balloons. Like it wasn't hard enough to drive already... So I just gave up and drove back home. Yay, all the lights were green! big_smile Thank God, I was starting to think someone put a curse on me...

Well, something good came of it anyway. I didn't crash on anyone even tough it seemed like some people were aiming at me! lol Really boosted my confidence on my driving skills. big_smile One more week and I can say that I've had my licence for a year and have never crashed the car. big_smile Yup,Good reflexes are nice to have.

Re: Randomness

BCMF, wow cool big_smile

My weekend plans... Right now it's friday evening 9.30 pm here. I'm gonna retreat to the tv and cuddle with JTT. We're watching Stealth from TV... I'm not in the mood for it but it's been so long since we last watched anything together... So I'll just enjoy the closeness. big_smile
Tomorrow we're going for one little girl's birthday. The tough part is, at the same time my friend would like to bring my Godson for me to take care of. I promised her a week ago. She's going to party with her hubby. And she wants to go at the same time as the birtday begins.. So just might be that I won't be going to the birthday. I'll be at home, in silence, listening music, a little me-time. Since my Godson is the most quiet, calmest baby I've ever seen. He just smells good and looks cute and sleeps a lot. big_smile Gotta love the babies that small. He's only about 10 weeks old. smile

Re: Randomness

... And they change again. So I do have to go to the brithday party because JTT wants me to drive. I was a bit torn about the situation but my friend suprised me by saying she found another babysitter. So that's it. Bdparty at 5pm and back home by 7 or 8.

I keep thinking now is sunday. It's saturday. So what nice things I could do this evening... hmm

Hey, do you mind telling me how much it costs to get a plane ticket to LA?
I have never been in an airplane. I'm sure I'd freak out for every little thing... :embarrassed:

Re: Randomness

I think the prize depends on the time you book and the season. You should ask Tina, she's our world traveler and knows better about those things. It was my first flight after a loooong time of flight abstinence and Tina booked everything. I have no clue about that. :clueless:

But hey, I'm only home for now. That doesn't mean I can't go back. And I definitely will. wink

Take me to L.A. too!  = )
I've been on a plane at least 5 times before. I don't like flying, especially when I flew from Hawaii to Georgia. It's not that bad though.

Re: Randomness

I don't have a clue how much a plane tickets costs from Finland to LA. Why don't you go and check some airline websites, just plan your trip as if you wanted to book it. They'll show you the price before you actually book anything.

We payed just under 700 EUR for the flight from Frankfurt to LAX. I believe that's cheap-ish. I'd be surprised if you could get a direct flight below, say, 650 EUR. And I guess it also depends on whether you fly off-season or during the main vacation times. When I flew to Atlanta on my own money, I payed around 700 EUR too. If you get really lucky and book very early and catch a special offer, I believe you can fly from Germany to the US for as little as 300 to 400 EUR, but only under special conditions. We booked kinda short notice and had a stopover in Denver on the way to LA.

Not sure if that's any help. (And I've been on planes way too often recently.)

Re: Randomness

I loathe traveling.  Loathe flying.  I like being other places, I just hate the process of getting there.  Unless it's a road trip.  Driving I don't mind at all --- especially when I know where I'm going.  I do usually get homesick though.  The only time I felt absolutely no homesickness at all was when I visited my friend Elaine in Michigan and we drove up into Canada.  That was a beautiful trip.  Every time I leave Atlanta, I miss grass and trees and big yards and roads that make sense.

For seven years I had a habbit of travelling 800 km (about 500miles) across Finland by train to meet my sisters and go to a small festifal. This year I passed. It was just so freakish thought to go again alone with three kids. I like travelling in the train but a year ago it was so horrible. I had my hands full with the kids and all that I had to carry. Maybe again next summer when we don't need the freaking troller with us anymore...

So what I think of travelling... The trip is half the experiment. But I hate luggage!

Re: Randomness

Oh yeah, luggage can be very annoying! wink
But apart from that, I love traveling and I still have a few places I'd like to see. And I loved LA. I couldn't live there forever, but I will definitely go there again.
I only get homesick in places I don't like. And it's hard to find places I don't like. I used to get homesick on school trips if they sucked.
