I love the second Sisterhood! The first one is better in my opinion but I still think it's really good.
I haven't seen Stephanie Daley either but I'm getting it on DVD for Christmas. : )

Mel, be warned, don't watch Stephanie Daley when you're feeling sad, or any kind of fragile. It's very intense. But also, even though you'll want to, do not look away from Amber during the climactic scene in the ladies room. She's stunning. It's painful, but it's perfection. And after you listen to the commentary, you will appreciate Amber as an actress and as a really smart, unique young woman more than ever before.

Thanks for the tips.
I already know how amazing Amber is. She's my favorite actress! : D

If you feel that way now, just wait. I'm serious. I was a fan before, but after, I was just, well, I can't even describe it. The commentary is essential, and don't worry, very energetic and way fun. She's just too incredibly cool.

It sucks that the American DVD doesn't work on Cooper, i would love to hear Amber's commentary.
Wait, I got the new program now, maybe it'll work. I'll check out later.

It's a really sad story... Amber plays a 16 year old who got pregnant. She denied her pregnancy the whole time, mostly to herself because no one else knew, then killed her baby after giving birth in a bathroom.
Wow. Very sad. I definitely want to see it and listen to the commentary that Deb was talking about. I'm excited to see Amber's preformance too.

I think we have a thread for it here on the Square Eyes board. You gotta tell us what you think once you've seen it.
Here's what I wrote in my Blog On MySpace after I watched it...

Amber Tamblyn Won't Leave Me Alone
Not that I really want her to, mind you. You see, I watched Stephanie Daley on Saturday night and I have yet to get over it. That's the only way to put it. A movie hasn't knocked my brain this sideways in a while. I can't stop seeing it in my mind's eye. And hearing that damn rattling toilet!
The movie is beautifully constructed. But Amber's what you cannot shake. Maybe it's especially affecting if you are a Joan Of Arcadia obsessive who already loved her. I've seen the first Sisterhood movie a couple of times too, but it's not like I read the books or anything. And I couldn't care less about the Japanese horror adaptations. Suffice to say that I already knew Amber could do anything. And it's not like I'm surprised by her work in SD. But I am still amazed.
There's no way to describe what she does onscreen. You just have to see it. And after you watch the film, I HIGHLY recommend that you listen to the commentary by Amber, Hilary Brougher and the DP. You'll learn instantly how different Amber is from this character she LIVED inside and exactly how brilliant she is in terms of what acting is about and how never to get caught at it.
Do not turn away from the climactic scene, no matter how much you want to. You have to ride it out with her. For all she gives, you owe her that. Watch her analyze that scene later and you'll really understand its power.
It's not a "fun" movie, unless you love great acting. If you're like me and that's your thing, you'll be haunted for days.

I'm currently reading Ann Brashares' novel "The Last Summer (Of You And Me)". It got to a really slow start, but now, about halfway through, it's getting more interesting. I was a little disappointed at first, but now I'm enjoying it. She also has a new book out, called "3 Willows". Sounds like that's one's gonna be more like the Sisterhood books, it's about these three girls who all have different lives and goals. This is the tagline: "It is a new summer. And a new sisterhood. Come grow with them." Right now they only have it in hardcover, but I might give it a try when it's available in paperback.
