You know, I don't really like doing "self-promotion", but I entered our site on a Top Male Celebrities ranking site. I have no illusions that we'll be somewhere at the top, but what the heck... So by clicking this link below, you can rank us:

I really do think it is. : D
Chris is the coolest celeb to me. Most of the other fan websites of guy celebs have rude and obnoxious girls on them. Fangirls who just like the actor or singer just because they think their "hot". It's soo different on this board though. Everyone is really nice and intelligent.

I went to one of the big German electronics stores on Friday (Media Markt), and they had three of Chris's movies on sale for less than 10 EUR: Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog and Freddy vs. Jason. Next to The Tic Code and The Invisible, I think that's actually the only Chris movies you can buy on DVD in Germany.

I completely agree. I've encountered far many stupid fangirls who get angry when the star that they like dates some one, for instance. Do they expect the person to not live their life to make a few random preteens happy? And on IMDB people try to stur up trouble just for their own entertainment, but it's not that on this board. Thank goodness. It's nice to have a place to escape from the trolls.

Thanks, you guys. You help make it that kind of place, you know? We want this place to be an oasis for people who love Chris. He's a sweet guy and we want to honor him by being a place where it's comfortable and informative and fun. And we can drool over pics and play games and chat about randomness and other movies and stuff.

I was just wondering something.
How did you guys first get to know Chris personally?
Was it because of this site or some inside connections?
Offline
You might say it was sheer luck. And, mostly, it was because of this site, although the first step might have happened without it. We decided to go ahead with the site in summer 2006. It went officially online on Oct 3, 2006. I was visiting Deb in Atlanta in October 2006 and it was pure chance that we found out Chris was shooting Revenge of the Nerds (has been cancelled since) in Atlanta at exactly that time. This, we only found out after I was already there, so it wasn't timed or anything. Like I said, pure luck.
We did a little digging and found out where they were going to shoot. We went out on a limb and drove there. The first day they were just setting up props and locations, but the second day the actors were there, including Chris. We managed to get a message to him and he sought us out after receiving it. We were allowed to spend the whole day on the set and Chris gave us a 40-minute interview. He found us on the sidelines a few times in between shots too. He was just really cool about the whole thing. And, I'm sure, immensely flattered that we had come out there especially for him.
Deb met him again at the FX Show convention in January 2007, where he was promoting Fanboys. He gave her another 30-minute interview then. And a phone number that was supposed to be his manager's, but turned out to be his own. (Which he didn't do on purpose.) Deb left a voicemail on his cell because what we actually wanted was the contact details for his manager to get some publicity shots for the website, but he then e-mailed us via the site and said we could contact him directly. That's pretty much the story in a nutshell.
If you want to read up on our day at the set in more detail, you can do so here: http://www.chris-marquette.com/content/ … ssible.htm

In '06, when TeeJay came to visit me in Atlanta so we could launch the site, we learned that by total coincidence, Chris was shooting a movie in Atlanta --- the aborted remake of Revenge Of The Nerds, which was being directed by Kyle Newman, director of Fanboys. We searched until we found out where they were shooting --- Agnes Scott College. We took a chance and went out there. I wore a Fanboys t-shirt that TeeJay made and she made up a postcard with the front page of the site on it. We hand wrote a message, just asking if we could meet Chris for five minutes, not expecting much more than that. TeeJay passed it to someone on the set and they got it to Chris. After the lunch break, he came looking for us with the card in his hand. He was so sweet, we asked if we could get a brief interview with him for the site and he agreed instantly. For the rest of the day, he had the head PA make sure that we were in a place where we could see all the action. We also met Kyle Newman that day. He LOVED the t-shirt. And we met other VIPs too. It was an amazing day. If you're ever bored, you can read the whole story here:

I'd like to add: Of course it would never have gone this far if we weren't running the site. If we weren't and we'd met him that day on the set, that's what it would have stayed--a one-time chance encounter.
