Do they have that cast to bring in younger viewers?

I don't know, but I sure hope so. I'm not young, but I like a bunch of people in that cast. I'm really looking forward to the movie.

I've never seen anything of Star trek. Am I weird?
They showed some tv series on finnish tv when I was a teenager but I never watched it. Other than that I've seen maybe some clips but don't really remember any of them. It feels like I'm missing out on some of the jokes on The big bang theory.
If I was to start watching Star trek now, with what sould I start with?

Since this is a reboot (or whatever) of the series and is based on the original series, I would start with the Original Series with Shatner, Nimoy, McCoy and the rest.
After that I would watch the first 6 Star Trek movies. Especially Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home and The Undiscovered Country.
For the other tv series, I would start with The Next Generation, then Deep Space Nine, Voyager and then Enterprise.

Illinois' recommendation is a good one, but I myself am not a big fan of the Original Series (with Kirk and Spock). I think of all the newer Trek shows, The Next Generation is a good one to start with. DS9 is more soap opera-like than the other Trek shows, it has more interpersonal relationship stuff than the "starship" shows (Next Gen, Voyager, Enterprise). But I personally loved DS9.

Illinois, don't forget The Search For Spock. That's actually my favorite of the films. And you can't just jump from Wrath Of Khan to The Voyage Home. I had watched TOS as a kid, but was never into it. When I stumbled into TSFS in '83, I got hooked. My personal favorite of all the ST shows was Next Gen. Aside from TOS, it's the only one of the series I was ever rabid for.

I've never seen a Star Trek film and hardly an episode, but i definatly want to see this film.
Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Eric Bana, Karl Urban and England's own Simon Pegg. What a great cast i can't wait to see together.

I had to look at the pic of the Enterprise again.
At first I thought that the thing with the red dot near the deflector dish was part of the ship. That is until I noticed another red dot below the ship towards the back. So I blew it up and noticed that they are likely shuttle crafts.
I think the best way I would describe it is the following. The Enterprise crossed with the look of the new version of Battlestar Galactica. A metal, more beffier look like the new Battlestar Galactica. But keeping the general look of the original Enterprise intact.

For someone who has never seen a Star Trek film before, that trailer looks amazing. Gets me more excited by the day, and it's nice to see Simon Pegg. The man is a comedic genius and a national treasure for us Brits.

I had to download it from the net because I can't play them due to my old computer.
Looks very good to me as well.
Don't know if the story is focusing on Kirk & Spock, but the trailer makes it look that way.
Terrific shots of the Enterprise in action.
The whiteness of the interiors is a little distracting, but it sure makes it pop off the screen.
This actually maybe the movie that makes me go and see it in the theater. Big maybe though since I just hate the experience.
In case anyone wants, I could upload it somewhere for those that want to download the trailer.

I also had to download it to my hard drive because it was loading too slow for me to stream the trailer.
I agree, I think it looks fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it, and I believe it's gonna be one of the movies that gets a simultaneous worldwide release. I'm surely gonna try watching it the first week it comes out.
I think the main concern of the hardcore Trek fans is that while it's gonna be a great action movie, it'll lack the Star Trek spirit. A friend told me the other day that some select people from the Trek fandom (people with big Star Trek websites or the guy who runs the biggest European Trek convention--FedCon in Germany) were shown a sneak preview of 20 minutes from the movie. Apparently the response was mainly very positive, and that gives me hope.
We have someone at our Trek Dinner who's a huge Vulcan fan and a huge Spock (Leonard Nimoy) fan. And she's in love with Zach Quinto playing Young Spock. That's a good sign that he's being accepted even by the hardcore people.
I sure hope it's gonna be a fun ride and that it's gonna be better than the most recent Trek movies. Bummer that we'll have to wait another 6 and a half months until we can see it for ourselves.

I've read a very detailed plot synopsis, so I know what the story is going to be about. Personally, as a Spock fan, I love it because it has a lot to do with Vulcan. Sarek & Amanda are featured in it as well, so we get to see some Spock family stuff. The coolest thing for me though is that the plot sets up far future Trek stuff --- like how Spock first comes in contact with Saavik. We don't see that in this movie, but let's just say that what the Romulans do in this one sets up Spock's lifelong crusade regarding them, which is what leads him to find her one day.
