I think I've had a few days off school in my time because of snow, but only because there was so much snow that we couldn't physically get to school. I grew up in an 8000 inhabitants town, but I lived outside of the actual town in a little "village" that had only 7 residential houses. A lot of the school kids would come from places like that, so if the snowplows didn't make it out there to these little villages in time for school to start, they would give us a day off. I don't recall how often that happened, but I don't think it was more often than two or three times.

The most snow days I ever got off from school was back in the blizzard of 1979.
I can't really recall how many days off we got, but I remember still being in school well into June, so must have been a week or two.
I don't know if these pics will work or not, but this gives you some idea of what it was like around here back then.

Now you'll notice that the snowfall itself wasn't that much, but it was the drifts. We had drifts of at least 3 feet in areas. Some roads were completely blocked. Cars in ditches. Even cars covered in a snow drift in the middle of the road. Then after that it got really cold, with wind chills I believe to be around 70 to 80 below zero.

Atlanta is paralyzed if we get two inches of snow. We're not used to it and it freaks everyone out. We maybe get a couple of inches 2-3 times a year. Once in a while we have a blizzard and get like 5-6 inches.
We do occasionally get ice storms though. And that really does shut everything down because of power lines breaking and tree branches fall on everything. And then the road gets so slick we all engage in giant game of bumper cars. Woohoo! What fun.

I can't even remember the last real ice storm around here. Perhaps back in the 70's.
But ice is the absolute worse thing. I wouldn't even try to go out in that. It's better to lose a days pay than get into an accident and have to pay to get the car fixed or even worse if you get injured in the accident and have medical bills and perhaps lose more days off from work.
At least with snow you get some traction, on ice there is nothing.

Speaking of accidents.
I sometime watch those video shows on tv where people do stupid things and get hurt.
The one that make me cringe is the ones where they either break a bone or hit there head really hard on the ground.
I don't feel sorry for them at all. They were stupid to to something so dumb and dangerous, so it's there own fault they got hurt.
But just seeing them break an arm, and it's in an abnormal angle. Or to hear there head hit the ground, -- just makes me cringe as if it's happened to me.

I thought that was kind of a funny story. And coincidentally Stuart, FL is where Chris was born.

Snow, snow, snow.. It's been falling off the sky all day. Really big fluffy pieces, really slow. Like in a christmas movie. So even if it snowed all day there's just about an inch of new snow on the ground. No need to go remove it from the driveway just yet.. Looks really nice but the kids are all wet when they come inside. So wet, wet, wet everywhere. Blah.. Well, it makes the kids so happy I can't really mope.
How ever, I'm gonna be feeling pretty crappy an hour from now if JTT don't finally come off work soon. That means I'll have to take all the kids with me to buy groceries and that's just purgatory for me. Pure pain for the nerves... Oh yay, he came just in. I'm off by my self. What a bliss.

I hate November. It's a too dark month for me. When I leave for work in the morning, it's still dark and when I leave work it's already getting dark again. How did I manage to survive this last year? Well, I guess last year I was too thrilled to develop depressions because I finally got a job. But this year - I don't know. It's like I only get up and go to work because the job pays the bills.
I want summer again.

Seems like Anne and I are in the same page when it comes to november. I've always hated it. Too dark. And in this town, not even the northern lights to bright my evenings... This year I seem to be raising our electricity bill. I have too much lights on in the mornings and evenings and listen to a lot of music to cheer my self up. I've always suffered from polar night blues. Month from now it's only couple of hours of sun in a day around here. Just few hundred kilometers north and there's no sun at all for days. But they have the northern lights anyway, lucky bastards.

So yeah, I'm back from the store. How exciting to drive on the icy roads in the dark. God, I hate the ruts on the road. One truck was trying to stay off them so hard he was hogging half of my side of the road when he came from the opposite direction. Once again I get to say: hurray for fast reflexses. Everyday you learn something new. Today it was: I can totally fit Nissan Primera Wagon in the most narrow space I've ever seen.
I bought a lot of groceries. For the weekend too. I'm going to visit a friend few houdred kilometers south from here with just my daughter. First time ever JTT has to cope with the boys alone for two and a half day. I was thinking I'll make home baked pizza for lounch friday so they can eat that for day or two and then some easy foods JTT can cook. He rolled his eyes for me and moped: "you most think I'm totally helpless in the kitchen. I can cook you know?!" Yeah I know he used to. Probably still can. He tought me a few things when we first started out. But I thought he might wanna be a bit lazy this weekend. Rough week at work for him. He's in the sauna now. I think I'm gonna rub his shoulders when he comes off. He looks so exhousted... Poor thing.. Lets see if I can keep my hands off his abs or am I gonna drive him nuts...

I have to work on Saturday. Well, it's only half a day, but still ... why do we have to start at 7.30? That's too early for a Saturday!

How come you have to work Saturday? I guess everyone wants their stuff printed before x-mas, huh? Hope they pay you extra for it!

Yeah, exactly. We have so much work this year. Last year it wasn't that bad and I wasn't the only one in the prepress office. It's the first time in one and a half year (Yeah, I am really there that long already!) that I have to work on Saturday. But this year the christmas business has been crazy. We have to do the christmas stuff AND a lot of other sh...uh, I mean stuff, too. And I am still alone. That's great. Not.
And no, I don't think they'll pay me extra for that - and I don't get christmas money either. I guess it'll just end in extra time I'll never get the chance to take. I already have almost one week of extra free time!
And the bad thing is, I think I lost my plastic key for the coffee/soda maschine. It fell off my key ring and I didn't notice it. That sucks pretty much.
EDIT: I just found the key! Woohoo! So I don't have to pay for a new one!

Well it still snowed today. And there was a really strong wind. So practically a snowstorm. I couldn't stay at home. I promised my friend Anne that I'll go out to lunch with her to our new shopping mall. So at first I drove the boys to JTT's mom and left the car there since Anne picked me up there. Then we were off. Maybe we should have taken our car. Her's was worse in the storm than mine. And she likes to smoke and talk in the phone while driving. So I was pretty terrified. But we made it anyways. The food was edable but I wouldn't say five stars. It was a fast food place anyway. All you can eat. So I had some lasagna, pizza and sallad. Their chicken wings were so bad I couldn't eat them. creasy on the surface, dry in the inside, not enough spices. I wanted to taste the soup too but No more room. Now I know what to eat there next time I'll go. Leave the creasy stuff off, just sallad and soup for me. Maybe some pizza but the rest was really bad..
Then we were off and admired the mall a bit. It looks really great. The bathrooms were the most beautiful public restrooms I've ever seen. Then I went and bought a birthday present for JTT's mom. She's been so wonderful lately. Lots of babysitting. I wanted to reward her. I love it how easy it is to buy presents for her. We have such similar taste. Next we had to go back to the storm and drive to the train station so I could buy some tickets for the weekend. I'm leaving to visit my other friend with my daughter. So you probably get a cappugirl-free weekend. Hurray for that, right? Aren't you just a little bit happy to get some freetime from all this mindless rambling?
One more sidenote. I dyed my hair this morning. Finally I got just the right kind of red hair I've always wanted. Nice, dark red. So when the wind blew really hard it was flying around my head. I had a funny thought maybe it looked like my head was on fire. My hair smells good too since it was my favorite dye Loreal casting. The conditioner is great in those..
Err... Can you tell I stoped writing my blog? I'm blabbering here about my days as if anyone really cares.. :embarrassed: Sorry...

That wasn't even all that happened to me today.. But I'll spare you from ALL of it. I just wanted to mention one more thing. JTT had to leave for a work-related trip for two and a half days. He just might get back home before we leave in the train friday. So no kisses and stuff for five days.. Miss him already. And the boys drive me nuts when JTT isn't at home at evenings. It's so weird so the boys get an extra energy burst. So even more reason for me to get just a tiny little brake from all they crazyness for the weekend... Hope you don't think any less of me :embarrassed:

Yay, I'm home from work now and don't have to go back till Monday. Eating some pizza right now from my favorite place. After that, I think I need a nap. Didn't sleep much last night so I've felt muddy-headed and droopy all day.
Our Bones ep airs tonight! Can't wait!

Writing a blog, that reminds me of something ... I didn't really update my LiveJournal since we came back from LA. But there was so much going on after that, I just didn't have the time to sit and write down everything. And now, I am on my Twilight journey, that means reading, reading, reading ...
