So it looks like there's come backlash against Kristen. Lots of people on the IMDb board for The Runaways have posted that they don't like her in the role of Joan Jett. Well that's just too damn bad, isn't it? She's cast and obviously has Joan's approval since she's exec producing.

Here's the cool video for the title song from the movie Light Of Day, which starred Joan Jett and Michael J. Fox as brother and sister, leaders of a bar band. The song was written for the movie by Bruce Springsteen. You might also recognize Michael McKean (aka David St. Hubbins of Spinal Tap) playing bass. And you might see Nick Cassavetes' mom, Gena Rowlands in there too. She played the mom. And that's Jason Miller playing the dad --- friend of John Cassavetes, Father Karras of The Excorcist, and Jason Patric's dad. It was directed by Paul Schrader, who wrote Taxi Driver.

Thank you, Deb. I wonder why I haven't seen that movie yet. I love Michael J Fox, especially 80-90-change of the decade stuff. Loved the long hair. And right away I went to IMDB to look for the movie. Once again I'm gonna start bombing our TV-channels' webpages with "please, would you put this movie on..." Why not? It has worked about 10 times before. Someone commented on that youtube video that there's no DVD for this movie and if that's true, I guess I can't see it if it isn't on TV.

Yeah, it sucks that there's no DVD. Maybe someday. I'd even like to see a director's cut because I know about a few things that got left out that I've always wanted to see. I've had it on VHS since it came out. Seen it a gabillion times. But not in a loooooong time, and I miss it. And I want a damn DVD.

Now, this is an almost perfect blending of the incomplete song as it runs in the movie with clips and the whole real song from the soundtrack. You won't notice the difference. I only do because I know the movie. It starts out with a rather long scene in which you get to see Mike and Joan and Gena Rowlands. Joan's a fantastic screen presence but rather stiff in her line delivery. It was her first crack at acting and it shows. She has some great moments in the movie, but this ain't one of them. After that scene, once the song starts, it's great. And you should know that the band in the movie, Joan, Mike J, Mike McKean and Paul J. Harkins were playing live on camera. Little Mikey once said of his guitar-playing, "I have a basic understanding of the five bar blues." He did very well playing a lot of guitar live onscreen. And Mike McKean is obviously a very talented musician because as we all know, the Spinal Tap guys all really play their instruments too.

Which leads me to also remind everyone that The Runaways really did play their instruments very well. They were a pretty damn good live band after they'd been at it for a while. And their records are bloody decent too.

And in a bit of useless trivia, cutie-pie drummer Paul J. Harkins, who played Billy in Light Of Day went on to be Joan's drummer in the Blackhearts for a while after they shot the movie.

OK, so that's who Kristen will be playing in this movie. Looks-wise, she'll be just about perfect with her hair dyed (please God, no wigs!), some black eyeliner and the right clothes. I just hope she pulls off the rest without making it a caricature. But she's a wonderful actress and I trust her. I'm officially obsessed with the idea of this movie. Hope more cast is announced soon.

Joan Jett has a song called "I wanna be your dog"? Wow. Is this coincidence or just me being too much addicted to the Twilight series? LOL

Oh, and I remembered something. I do know Joan Jett. Well, not her, but some of her music. I remembered we were talking about that song once, I love Rock'n'Roll. I do know that song. I just totally forgot about it because it's one of these songs you hear all the time but don't know the artist.
